00:00Hello, there. Welcome to your latest broadcast from the Met Office. Well, it looks like we'll
00:04see an increasing risk of snow over the next few days, particularly across northern parts
00:08of the U.K., and that's courtesy of Arctic airs diving south across the U.K. as we move
00:14through the beginning of next week. However, just across southern areas, mild Atlantic
00:18air may start to move back in Tuesday and into Wednesday. This rain, if it bumps against
00:23the colder air, could turn to snow in places. But details at this stage are a little uncertain,
00:28so do stay tuned to the forecast over the coming days.
00:31Through the rest of Sunday, though, a lot of cloud across the U.K., the risk of a few
00:35light showers, perhaps wintry over the highest ground, but lots of places staying dry. The
00:40lucky few might just see a few glimmers of sunshine, say, across eastern parts of England,
00:45and the increasing chance of snow showers over the highest ground across Scotland. In
00:49terms of temperatures, generally around average, 7 to 9 Celsius across the board, but just
00:54feeling chilly with that thick cloud across the U.K.
00:58Into the evening time, we'll see an increasing chance of snow across parts of Scotland, Aberdeenshire
01:03in particular, up into Shetland with a strengthening wind here. Wintry showers then become more
01:08widespread into the early hours, some snow and ice forming as we move towards Monday
01:13morning, some treacherous conditions developing. A Met Office warning in force right through
01:17over the next few days across northern and eastern Scotland in particular, 2 to 5 centimetres
01:22by Monday morning is possible. Elsewhere, generally quite a cloudy night. Any clear
01:27spells, temperatures will dip away to near freezing, so one or two icy stretches developing.
01:32But overall, quite a cold start and a cloudy start to Monday morning. This weather system
01:38here giving some showery rain will push southwards, but the significant thing about this is it
01:44will introduce much colder air from the north as the day goes on. So, temperatures actually
01:48sliding away from the north as we move through into the afternoon. Frequent snow showers
01:54moving in across northern and eastern Scotland. Again, 2 to 5 centimetres to lower levels,
01:58up to 10 centimetres over the higher ground. So, some tricky driving conditions, travelling
02:03conditions out there, icy stretches for many. But sunny spells further south, cloudier conditions
02:09across parts of Wales into the Midlands, a few light showers for southern England too.
02:13And here, we're just holding on to the mild air, temperatures 9 or 10 Celsius, but turning
02:18colder further north, struggling to get much above freezing where it snows across parts
02:22of Scotland. Into the evening time, further snow showers across Scotland, further accumulations,
02:28ice continues to be a risk. Temperatures starting to fall quickly across parts of northern England,
02:33northern Ireland and Scotland, falling below freezing here. England and Wales holding on
02:37to the cloud into the evening, perhaps the risk of some rain and patchy snow as we move
02:42overnight into Tuesday morning. So, lots going on over the next few days with lots of details
02:48still to be ironed out. So, it is worth staying up to date with our forecast via our app and
02:52our social media channels. I'll see you again soon.
