00:00Hello, there. Welcome to the latest broadcast from the Met Office. Well, it continues to
00:04stay changeable through the weekend and into the beginning of next week too. Looking at
00:09the bigger picture, a change this weekend looking towards the Atlantic as weather systems
00:14move in, but also milder air across much of the UK for this weekend. However, into the
00:18beginning of next week, the northerlies start to return. So, we'll see colder weather sweeping
00:23back south through Monday and into Tuesday, increased risk of snow in places too. Though,
00:28we still have the risk of snow through the next 24 hours in places too. Band of rain
00:33across southern parts of England stretching into Wales. Northern Ireland could produce
00:37a little bit of snow over the higher ground. Here, temperatures 5 to 7 degrees. Brighter
00:41elsewhere, best of the sunshine holding on across eastern parts of England, northern
00:45and eastern Scotland. Still very cold across northeast Scotland, temperatures struggling
00:49to get much above freezing. Big contrast compared to the south-west of the UK, Devon and Cornwall
00:54reaching highs of 11 or 12 degrees. As we move through into the evening time, this band
01:00of rain bumps up against that colder air, turns to snow for a time over the higher ground
01:04of northern England. The Pennines could see a bit of freezing rain too. The snow piling
01:09up across parts of Scotland, we could see 5 to 10 centimetres over the mountains here.
01:13So, we do have a snow and ice warning in force until 6 o'clock in the morning on Sunday.
01:18But just notice though, behind the band of rain, we do start to import some milder air.
01:24So, temperatures rising through the night, 5, 6, 7 degrees to start Sunday morning across
01:28the south and the west. So, a damp start across the north and east of the UK, some icy stretches
01:33but these soon clearing away. And then the day ahead, well, it looks quite dry and bright
01:37across England and Wales, particularly in the east where we'll see some sunny spells.
01:41In the west though, the cloud thickens and the rain moves in. So, parts of Scotland,
01:45northern Ireland, western parts of England and Wales will see that rain turning heavy
01:49at times. But a breezy afternoon to come and a mild one as well with those winds coming
01:54in from the south-west for most. So, highs of 12 to 14 degrees. Just notice the far north
02:00of Scotland here, holding on to that colder air, never too far away. Into the evening
02:05time on Sunday, the cloud and rain continues to push its way north and eastwards. The rain
02:09turning heavy at times, the wind starting to pick up as we head into the early hours,
02:13particularly through the Irish Sea. But you can see the bright echoes starting there too.
02:18So, into next week, we will see it start to turn colder again from the north with the
02:23risk of snow showers in places. So, it is worth staying up to date with the latest weather
02:28on our social media platforms and on our app. I'll see you again soon.
