6 March - National weather forecast presented by Greg Dewhurst
Transcript
00:00Hello there, I'm Greg Dewhurst and welcome to your latest Met Office broadcast. High
00:04pressure is well and truly in charge across the UK at the moment, especially across the
00:08north, giving plenty of sunshine and generally light winds. However, as we go through the
00:12next few days, low pressure will try and edge nearer, bringing some outbreaks of rain to
00:17northern and western parts of the UK in particular and some stronger winds. Looking at the rest
00:22of Sunday, we can see plenty of sunshine, blue skies across Scotland, Northern Ireland,
00:26parts of Northern England, cloudier skies for the rest of England and Wales, but even
00:30some breaks developing from time to time to allow some brighter intervals. Quite a chilly
00:35feeling day despite light winds, temperatures a little below average for early March, reaching
00:39around 8 to 10 Celsius at the very best. A little bit breezy along some southern coasts
00:44of England here, just taking the edge off the temperatures slightly too. As we head
00:49through Sunday evening, we'll see clearing skies across much of the UK, cloud across
00:54England and Wales will continue to break up and we'll see a frost forming quite widely
00:58across Scotland, Northern England, Northern Ireland, parts of Wales as well. A bit patchier
01:03for central and southern England. Temperatures through the night will fall to around freezing
01:08in the towns and cities, but falling below in the countryside. Last night we saw minus
01:137 degrees, tonight we could see lows of minus 4 to minus 6 Celsius across parts of Scotland,
01:19Northern Ireland. So a chilly start to Monday morning. So ice scrapers at the ready for
01:24most of us, but we will see plenty of blue skies through the day and light winds and
01:30dry weather continuing into the afternoon, perhaps unbroken sunshine for some. Cloud
01:35will bubble up from time to time, but everywhere should stay dry. Later on in the day, the
01:39breeze will start to pick up across the far west and again temperatures around, if not
01:44just slightly below average for the early part of March. Over the next few days, we'll
01:49continue to see some wetter weather trying to move in from the Atlantic across the north
01:54and the west of the UK. Further south and east you are, it will remain dry and sunny
01:59with chilly nights to come. For more information, follow us on social media.
