00:00Hello there, welcome to your weather update from the Met Office. Now over the next few days,
00:05always the chance of rain or showers, thundery showers at that, but mostly by night. By day,
00:10some quieter weather until Friday. For the time being, this band of rain is heavy,
00:15strong winds associated with it across Northern Ireland, Western Scotland,
00:18trailing down towards Northern England, Eastern Counties, where there could be
00:21the odd rumble of thunder associated with any sort of showery burst. But it's clearing very quickly
00:26up towards Shetland, where we will see winds pick up to near Galeforce,
00:30and the rain continues across the northwest of Scotland. Elsewhere, a quieter end to the night,
00:34but more showers will arrive across Northern Ireland through the early hours of the morning,
00:37again pushing very quickly northwards. So through the first part of Wednesday,
00:42the northwest of Scotland seeing those showers. Elsewhere, it's a fine start to the day away from
00:47Shetland. You can see some fine conditions, some sunshine, a stronger wind for Northern Ireland
00:51and Irish Seacoast. But even so, the sun will come out here and a bright day with some sunshine
00:56across much of England and Wales, with a lighter breeze towards the south as well as the east.
01:01Now, across the southeast, we saw the high temperature of the year so far on Tuesday,
01:05a notch down on Wednesday. Even so, it's a pleasant morning. It's a fine morning.
01:10And even across the northwest of Scotland, you should see an improving picture here.
01:14As those showers ease, you'll see more in the way of brighter weather as the cloud breaks up.
01:18However, cast your eyes towards the west. This is another band of rain. Again,
01:23some strong winds associated with it, pushing ever eastwards. So even though it's a narrow
01:29band of rain, there's some quite potent bursts mixed in there. And this will arrive across
01:33Northern Ireland through evening time. At the same time, showers will gather across the south coast
01:38of England and they'll migrate northwards through evening time. Temperatures then typically coming
01:43in around 20 for the Murray Firth, 24 for the London area, 18 for Northern Ireland.
01:50Now, here's your picture through Wednesday evening. More clouds across eastern Scotland,
01:55still a breeze here, but this is that narrow band of rain extending from western fringes
01:59across much of Northern Ireland down the Irish Sea, but clipping west Wales as well as the west
02:04country. Showers across the south coast will continue their migration northwards and more
02:10will gather across the Channel Islands as well as the Brest Peninsula. And these will have a
02:14thundery element to them. In fact, overnight through Wednesday into Thursday, they'll push
02:19their way northwards. So some thundery activity, some heavy bursts to come, even the risk of hail
02:24across central and eastern areas of England as they push up towards eastern England.
02:29The showery bursts of rain across Scotland again will clear through the early hours of the morning
02:33with further showers just clipping the northwest of the country as we head into Thursday. But
02:38Thursday is not looking too bad at all. Yes, we'll see more in the way of sunshine. Winds will
02:42ease a little bit as those showers clear, so a drier afternoon to come, although always the
02:48chance of more clouds and perhaps some showery bursts of rain towards the northwest where we'll
02:52see a fresh southwest wind. Temperatures typically coming in again around 20 to 22 degrees Celsius,
02:59so feeling warm in that sunshine. So here's your city's list through Thursday. 23 will be your
03:04high in the southeast, but generally speaking, yes, 17 to 20. All in all, not bad. As we head
03:10into Friday, though, the chance of some showery rain which could turn thundery towards the south
03:14as well as the east and more rain towards the northwest. I'll see you later.
