00:00Hello, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:03Still a few thunderstorms rumbling on through Monday evening and a few showers likely again
00:09to develop during Tuesday.
00:11Met Office warning is quite a broad area but as always with summertime thunderstorms they're
00:16always going to be hit or miss.
00:17So not everywhere in the warning area catching one but they are causing some disruption,
00:21a lot of spray and surface water on the roads, particularly in parts of Wales, Northern England,
00:26the Midlands and North East Scotland.
00:28Clearing from here through the early hours, easing across England and Wales but still
00:32a few showers even into dawn.
00:35Quite a contrast in temperatures overnight, it is turning cooler, it is turning fresher
00:38but still quite a warm and humid night over eastern parts of England.
00:42But for Scotland and Northern Ireland, certainly in rural spots, temperatures will be down
00:46to single figures.
00:48So a fresh but bright start for much of Scotland, a much drier day over North East Scotland
00:53compared to Monday.
00:54Over the West we'll see a weather front moving in, bringing cloud and some outbreaks of rain.
00:59And for England and Wales there will be some showers around early on, then we'll see further
01:03heavy showers perhaps developing over parts of East Anglia and the South East, especially
01:07around the early afternoon.
01:09Possibility even here of the odd rumble of thunder during the afternoon as well.
01:13But for much of Wales, Northern England, South West England, things should brighten up and
01:18largely stay dry during the afternoon as well.
01:22Weather wise, well we're seeing the fresher air slowly edging in, so it will be a cooler
01:26day for many East Anglia and the South East, still perhaps a bit of a humid feel, 22, 23
01:32here if we see some sunny spells.
01:33But most places only in the mid to high teens and that fresher air will eventually push
01:38right the way into eastern parts of England by the time we get to the end of Tuesday,
01:44ushering away the heavy and thundery showers by early evening.
01:49We'll still see some further showers coming in to parts of Northern Ireland and Northern
01:53Scotland as we go through the night and into Wednesday and again that fresher feel as temperatures
01:58drop away.
01:59So it won't be as humid, it'll be a more comfortable night Tuesday night across the central and
02:04eastern parts.
02:05And then a pretty chilly start on Wednesday, particularly in parts of Scotland.
02:09Temperatures in some rural spots may not be far off freezing.
02:12We can get a day of sunshine and showers with again one or two heavy ones developing.
02:17The winds are quite light.
02:18So just like during Tuesday, the showers could be quite slow moving, but equally, they'll
02:24be pretty well scattered.
02:25So parts of southern Scotland, northern England, just staying dry and fine throughout with
02:29some decent spells of sunshine.
02:32Sunshine though only lifting those temperatures again into the mid to high teens.
02:35Again, we'll be losing that humidity.
02:37So a fresher feel with light winds in most places beyond Wednesday.
02:43The forecast does get pretty complicated with more uncertainty than usual.
