00:00Hello. Warmer weather is on the way, but it's not going to be for everyone.
00:05There is also more rain to come, particularly in western areas, as this chart shows.
00:09It's the rainfall building up over the next couple of days.
00:13Notice the yellows, the heaviest rain over the hills across South Wales and southern
00:18Scotland.
00:19Another pulse of rain then coming into western areas during Tuesday, whereas all the while
00:24much of the east of England and northeast of Scotland stays dry.
00:28This is the reason why.
00:29This is the view from space on Monday morning.
00:31Lots of cloud, a little area of low pressure, and this weather front, an occlusion, is gradually
00:37working its way in.
00:39Ahead of that, we've seen some fine weather to start the working week over much of East
00:43Anglia and the southeast, along with northern Scotland.
00:46But the rain is creeping slowly northwards.
00:49The far north of Scotland staying largely dry, parts of the east of Northern Ireland
00:53cheering up a little this afternoon.
00:55But for much of the northwest of England, particularly on the coast, a good chunk of
00:58Wales and southwest England, there will be further outbreaks of rain.
01:02Whereas the Midlands, particularly the East Midlands, East Anglia and the southeast, hangs
01:06on to some hazy sunshine.
01:07The breeze is picking up, but bringing warmer air up from the south as well.
01:12So it feels much warmer in these eastern areas, certainly compared to Sunday, 14, 15, 16 degrees.
01:17But obviously, with the cloud and the outbreaks of rain and that strengthening wind still
01:22on the chilly side in these western parts at 12 or 13 Celsius, the rain will continue
01:27to work its way into northern Scotland this evening, fizzling out perhaps for a time in
01:31southern Scotland, northern Ireland, staying fairly soggy over the West Midlands, southern
01:36parts of Wales.
01:37And then that next pulse of rain starts to threaten up from the southwest.
01:42Some clearer skies persist over the East Midlands, East Anglia and the southeast, some breaks
01:46in the cloud across Scotland, particularly across the south and the far north, allowing
01:50temperatures to dip down into single figures.
01:52But for most, a fairly mild night, certainly compared to many nights that we had through
01:57last week.
01:58Let's look at Tuesday's weather, then.
02:00It's a similar story, with most of the rain out west, some heavy bursts of rain, those
02:03brighter colours there coming into northern Ireland, some lively pulses of rain too for
02:08Devon, Cornwall, parts of Pembrokeshire, and the rain becoming more widespread across Wales
02:12during the day.
02:13All the while, though, much of the Midlands, eastern England staying dry, could be a bit
02:17cloudy across East Anglia, but a much brighter day over northeast England and the eastern
02:22parts of Scotland, and a much warmer day here as well.
02:27Again, temperatures are going to be split east-west with the cloud and the outbreaks
02:30of rain in the west, 12 or 13.
02:33But with some sunshine across the central and eastern parts, temperatures really jumping
02:37up 17, 18, perhaps even 19 degrees in some spots.
02:41With the breeze off the sea, it will be a little cooler across Aberdeenshire, but certainly
02:46for many in this zone, other parts of northeast England, southeast Scotland, it will be a
02:51lot warmer compared to Monday.
02:54So those temperatures comparing 24 hours earlier, you can see it will be quite a bit warmer
02:59in that northeastern sector.
03:01Will that last?
03:02Well, it could get a little warmer through the rest of this week, but again, not for
03:05all parts of the UK.
