00:00Welcome to your latest update from the Met Office. It's been a damp start to the working
00:05week for most of us and there is more rain to come through the week ahead as well, courtesy
00:09of low-pressure systems. Here's the bigger picture from space across the Atlantic, large
00:14areas of cloud, lots of showers to the west of us. And this massive cloud is a low-pressure
00:20system that's been bringing the rain already and will continue to do so. The weather fronts
00:24have been slowly chugging their way northwards. Parts of East Anglia and the southeast haven't
00:29seen much rain, staying mostly dry here this afternoon, and the far north-west of Scotland
00:34as well. We've got cold air in place over northern Scotland, so as the rain is hitting
00:38that we are seeing some snow over the hills. Pretty grim conditions in eastern Scotland
00:44with a brisk and cold wind. Rain on and off through the rest of the day over northern
00:47England, northern Ireland, southern Scotland, showery rain too for the Midlands and Wales
00:52and some heavier rain coming into parts of Devon and Cornwall. That could be lasting
00:56for most of the afternoon into the evening. As I said, something a bit brighter at times
01:00across the southeast, which might just squeak the temperatures up to 12, but for most of
01:04us we are below average, many of us in single figures. And when you add on the wind, it
01:11feels even colder, particularly over eastern Scotland. It's a really cold rain here with
01:16snow on the hills. Temperatures are feeling closer to or even sub-freezing. And even elsewhere
01:22further south, temperatures feeling more like single digits because of the brisk breeze.
01:27It feels even colder where the rain is falling, and that will continue to fall with more hill
01:31snow over eastern Scotland. Could be some pretty tricky conditions on parts of the A9,
01:36for example, with that snow coming in here. Mostly at low levels, though, it will be rain
01:40and easing a touch over southern Scotland, parts of northern Ireland, and England and
01:44Wales turning a bit drier, at least as we go through the night, but staying predominantly
01:48cloudy. Temperatures overnight, mostly dipping down to single figures, may get close to freezing
01:53in northern Scotland. The colder air still in place here. So another chilly day on Tuesday.
01:59The wet weather will slowly start to ease, but still pretty cold and wet across the east
02:04coast of Scotland and the Moray Firth most of the day. After a drier start, we'll see
02:08more rain coming up into parts of England and Wales and across northern Ireland. So
02:12turning damp in this zone to the east, there's something a bit brighter. Parts of northeast
02:17England may well see some sunny spells, but a wetter day for the southeast tomorrow.
02:23South Wales, southwest England looking brighter tomorrow. We should see some sunny spells
02:27coming through. Generally, winds a little lighter tomorrow as well. So we're feeling,
02:33at least for most of us, a touch warmer, but we're still only in single figures across
02:36much of Scotland. Obviously, we'll feel very pleasant with the rain across Birmingham,
02:41London, up towards Liverpool and Rill as well. So, yes, still generally on the cool side,
02:47but the sun at this time of year does make such a big difference, so feeling quite pleasant
02:51in the southwest. That zone of rain will continue to spread northwards as we head through Tuesday
02:57evening. You can see here just by the way the rain bands are shaped where the low pressure
03:02system is just out to the west, and it doesn't really shift. It edges away a little bit,
03:07but it maintains this low pressure circulation like a washing machine, just throwing bands
03:14of showers and rain across the country throughout the week. And yes, that goes for Good Friday
03:18as well. And as we go through into the Easter weekend, we may start to see fewer showers,
03:25but generally the unsettled picture likely to continue. For a full week ahead forecast,
