00:00Good morning and welcome to May, which by my reckoning owes us quite a few flowers given
00:06all the April showers. Now, there will still be some showers around today, but there will
00:11also be some spring sunshine to be had. We're going to flip things around a little bit,
00:15though, because after a fine day yesterday across much of the east, it is a drabber day,
00:20a much duller day for northeast England and eastern Scotland. A little bit of patchy rain
00:24at times here, turning particularly damp across parts of Aberdeenshire through the late morning
00:29into the afternoon. A few showers dotted around elsewhere, but overall, a much drier and brighter
00:34day for Wales, southwest England and Northern Ireland. Some good spars of sunshine coming
00:38through here, brightening up at times across East Anglia and western Scotland, doing pretty
00:43well for sunshine and also temperatures 18, 19 degrees likely here and further south where
00:49we see some sunshine coming through again. Temperatures getting into the high teens.
00:53It's going to feel a lot cooler, though, across northeast England and eastern Scotland. Much
00:58more cloud here today and that breeze coming in from the North Sea. Let's take a look at
01:03what happens this evening because we do need to keep our eyes down to the south. Some heavy
01:07showers coming up here, likely to see some thunderstorms developing, particularly as
01:12we go through the early hours. Parts of Wales, southern England, maybe even getting up into
01:16the Midlands. You may well get woken up tonight by a rumble of thunder or some flashes of
01:21lightning across parts of the south. So something to be aware of. A lot of heavy rain falling
01:26in a short space of time as well could generate a lot of spray and surface water on the roads
01:31for tomorrow morning's commute. Elsewhere, generally staying dry and temperatures mostly
01:36holding up in double figures across England and Wales, eight or nine, the low in towns
01:40and cities further north. A cloudy start then to Thursday one way or another. Still some
01:46heavy bursts of rain early on across the southwest. That should tend to clear away, but always
01:52the likelihood of further showers across southern parts of England, mid and south Wales.
01:57That breeze strengthening coming in from the North Sea, that's going to bring some fret
02:01and har at times along these North Sea coasts. It's going to be patchy in nature, however,
02:06and a good part of northwest Scotland, northern Ireland, northwest England, much of the Midlands
02:11down towards East Anglia should have a fine and sunny day tomorrow. And with warmer air
02:16in places across the UK, it'll feel pretty pleasant as well. Temperatures 19, 20. One
02:22or two places, particularly western Scotland, could squeak a little higher than that, maybe
02:2521, 22 in a few locations. Much cooler with this breeze coming in from the North Sea and
02:31where it stays cloudy on those eastern coast temperatures struggling somewhat. And cooler
02:35across the southwest here as well, where we keep the thicker cloud, particularly if we
02:40keep some showers. Temperatures really struggle, just 13 or 14 Celsius. This map shows those
02:46temperatures when compared to the May average. So you can see that sunniest last temperatures
02:51well above average, particularly so in western Scotland, significantly above average here,
02:56whereas it will be that cooler feel on some of those North Sea coasts and with a cloudier
03:00weather down towards the southwest. Plenty going on. And if you want more, particularly
