03 December National weather forecast presented by Honor Criswick
Transcript
00:00Hello there, good morning, and it certainly is a cold start to the day, particularly across
00:05northern areas where you'll likely be scraping your car if you're out and about this morning.
00:09We've got plenty of clear skies in northern areas overnight, that led to a sharp widespread
00:14frost for many of us, so a particularly cold start here with some frost and icy stretches.
00:18For many of us though, it is going to be a largely dry and bright day, plenty of sunny
00:22spells. Start to see a change from the west though, clouds spilling in here with some
00:27outbreaks of rain, this could be heavy at times, may even start to fall as snow across
00:31the high ground of western Scotland. Cloud also spilling into parts of Devon and Cornwall
00:36with some dribs and drabs moving into Cornwall by the time we reach the afternoon. As I say
00:41though, for many of us, plenty of dry weather, though it is going to be feeling rather chilly,
00:45highs of 8 to 10 Celsius in the south, but for eastern parts of Scotland, highs not really
00:50budging past 4 to 5 Celsius. Now through into the evening, this cloud will continue to move
00:56its way south and east with still falling as high ground across Scotland, we may even
00:59see some flurries of snow across the Pennines at times too. It generally clears its way
01:04south eastwards and fizzles out too, but it does bring around some patchy cloud overnight,
01:09that's going to stop temperatures dropping too low, but plenty of clear skies still in
01:13northern areas, so we could still see some frost in places, particularly for rural parts
01:18of Scotland and Northern Ireland. Through into Wednesday though, we've got a ridge of
01:23high pressure building, which means once again, plenty of dry, fine and settled weather,
01:27just a few showers skirting into western parts of Scotland at times, and then later on, once
01:32again, we'll continue to see that cloud spill in from the west, some outbreaks of rain just
01:36feeding into Northern Ireland and later into western parts of Scotland. We may even start
01:40to see some patchy rain just clip into western parts of Devon and Cornwall and western parts
01:46of Wales too. But on the whole, largely dry, perhaps a bit more cloud around in western
01:50areas and still a fairly chilly day on offer, highs around 6 to 7 Celsius, but down across
01:56the south, slightly milder, highs of between 10 to 12 Celsius. Now for the rest of the
02:02week, it's generally going to be unsettled, we are going to see some wet and windy weather
02:07at times, this could cause some disruption as we head into Friday and Saturday as low
02:11pressure takes hold. It is turning milder though, but then that leaves us into a cold
02:17weekend as well. But if you want some more details on this week's weather, you can catch
02:21Alex on YouTube with the week ahead weather, otherwise that is it from me, bye bye.
