13 February National weather forecast presented by Honor Criswick
Transcript
00:00Hello there. A colder night ahead with some frost in places, also a chance of snow and
00:06also a chance of some freezing rain. That's as this area of cloud and rain slowly moves
00:10its way up from the south west and as it pushes into the cold air we could see some hill snow,
00:15particularly across parts of the south west later on into southern parts of Wales and
00:20also across any high ground in Northern Ireland. And a chance of freezing rain too and that
00:24could lead to some icy stretches by the morning so do take care if you're out and about. Away
00:28from this cloud and rain though it should be largely dry, a mix of cloud and some clearest
00:33spells and under the clearest skies that's where we're likely to see a patchy frost but
00:37for all it is going to be a colder night ahead with some towns and cities just dropping below
00:41freezing. So a relatively damp start across Northern Ireland, parts of the south west
00:47and this cloud and rain does slowly try to edge its way north eastwards but it's fairly
00:52slow moving, still a chance bringing some snow to higher ground and also some freezing
00:57rain still. Away from this though we do see cloud break up a little bit better than it
01:01has done of recent days so there should be some sunshine on the cards for some but it
01:05is still going to be a chilly day, temperatures widely just below average so feeling rather
01:10cold at times but under the cloud and rain slightly milder but some quite brisk winds
01:14at times here so it's still not going to be the most pleasant of days. Then as we head
01:19into the evening we continue to see this rain push its way north eastwards, still a chance
01:24it could bring some hill snow as it pushes up over high ground and we could also see
01:28some moderate to heavy bursts at times particularly across parts of the south west and southern
01:32parts of Wales as it moves through and still some fairly blustery winds underneath this
01:36cloud and rain. Elsewhere largely dry we could see some drizzling spots and also still a
01:41chance we could start to see some snow to higher ground as the rest of the cloud and
01:45rain pushes north eastwards so yet again another chilly night on offer with some places dropping
01:50below freezing and a chance of some frost by the morning. Then for the weekend itself
01:55I'm afraid there's still plenty of grey skies around, this area of cloud and rain lingers
02:00for much of the day across parts of the south west Wales and then later on into central
02:05and northern parts of England and even away from this area of rain there's still plenty
02:09of cloud around, could see some showers or some drizzly conditions start to move into
02:13the north east too where once again we could also see some snow and we do still have the
02:17risk of freezing rain whenever this area of rain bumps into that colder air too so
02:22once again keep an eye out for any icy stretches and temperatures still once again fairly similar
02:27just starting to turn slightly milder as we head towards the south west, highs of around
02:319 celsius here but for the large majority another cold start to the weekend. Now if
02:37you want more details on this weekend's weather we can catch Aidan here on YouTube otherwise
02:42that's it from me, bye bye.
