18 January - National weather forecast presented by Annie Shuttleworth.

00:00Good evening, it's going to be another dry night across the UK and another cold one as
00:05well, though not quite as cold as last night. As we've got clear skies developing for many
00:10areas, any showers should tend to fade away apart from across the far northwest of Scotland.
00:16We could also see some mist and fog, some freezing fog in fact, across parts of Wales
00:20and central areas of England, as well as up across the Pennines into southern areas of
00:25Wales as well. So it could be a bit of a murkier start for these areas tomorrow morning, but
00:28generally it should be crisp and clear by sunrise. But a very cold start once again,
00:33as low as minus nine rurally across the south. But as I said, plenty of sunshine to come
00:38through the course of tomorrow, particularly across more central areas where the winds
00:43are turning quite light as well. In the far north, though, you notice we've still got
00:47some persistent showers moving in. These will fall as sleet and snow, mainly snow across
00:52the higher ground, but there is a further snow and ice warning in force. Across the
00:57south, though, it should stay dry through much of the day. And we've got a westerly
01:00wind developing through Friday. So that means the temperatures will be climbing a little
01:04bit across western areas. So six or seven degrees in the southwest. However, notice
01:09in the east, we've still got a frost lingering through much of the day. So it will stay with
01:13that chillier feel through much of the day on Friday. And then in the evening across
01:18the east, it stays clear and cold. However, further west, the cloud will thicken as this
01:23weather front starts to approach. So it will turn windier as well as well as milder. But
01:28we'll see some heavy rain across parts of Northern Ireland and northwest Scotland and
01:32some further hill snow too. That more unsettled theme will continue through much of the weekend.
01:37The temperatures, though, do start to rise. Notice the milder air moving in for the weekend.
01:42So you'll notice quite a considerable difference to the temperatures. However, it's on Sunday
01:46where the rainfall totals are expected to really build up. And that with some snow melt
01:50means that we could see some flooding issues as well as some disruption from the strong
01:54winds. So we do have weather warnings in force for both rain and wind. So make sure you take
01:59a closer look at the details on that. If you'd like a full weekend forecast, you can catch
02:03the full one with Alex Burkhill on YouTube. See you later.
