00:00Hello, welcome to the latest. It's going to stay very cold through the rest of Thursday
00:05and Friday, but changes are coming to the weather. We'll see a subtle change at first
00:10from Thursday into Friday as we start to see a northwesterly feed to our weather rather
00:15than the northerly feed we've seen over the past week or so. Now, taking a look at the
00:20latest satellite picture that we've seen so far on Thursday, we can see we're still with
00:24that northerly flow for now, with showers pushing in off the North Sea into northern
00:29Scotland, northeastern areas of England, as well as Northern Ireland. These are falling
00:33as sleet and snow. And there won't be that much change through the rest of Thursday,
00:39with an ice and snow warning in force through much of the day. We'll see those showers continuing
00:44across northern and eastern areas, but for many areas, it's going to be a sunny and dry
00:49day. However, the temperatures are still below par for the time of year, so still
00:54feeling quite chilly out there. And overnight, a lot of clear skies will mean that the temperatures
00:59will plummet once again. There'll be some mist and murk dragging into southeastern areas.
01:05And as we start to see that northwesterly feed, showers will ease away from northern
01:10eastern coasts, but an area of rain and snow will push into the northwest. And there is
01:16another warning in force through that for Friday. As I said, temperatures plummeting
01:21once again. It's likely to be the coldest night of the year so far, as low as minus
01:2610, possibly closer to minus 15 for snow-covered surfaces in northern Scotland and many rural
01:33areas coming down into minus double digits across England and Wales. So a very cold start
01:39to Friday, a bit of a murky start in the southeast. But there'll still be a good amount of winter
01:44sunshine across the UK through the day, especially for Wales, central and northern England, a
01:50brighter day for northeastern England without any of those showers. But still quite a snowy
01:56day for northern and central areas of Scotland. There's a snow and ice warning in force for
02:01snow and icy stretches. So take care if you're travelling in these areas. Further south and
02:08east, we'll see a good amount of winter sunshine continuing, though another chilly day for
02:13the time of year. And into Friday evening, clear skies across the southeast will make
02:18for a colder night across southeastern areas. But cloud across the north and west will keep
02:24temperatures up a little bit higher. And we'll start to see those temperatures climb a little
02:30bit more into the weekend as a more significant change to our weather arrives with this mild
02:35air from the southwest pulling in to the southwest through Sunday and more significantly into
02:41the start of next week. So by Sunday, temperatures in the southwest reaching double digits, perhaps
02:4613 or 15 degrees. But in the northeast, we're still going to be in low single figures for
02:53much of the weekend. Now, the mild air coming in to the southwest will come at the expense
03:00of some wind and rain. There's likely to be some warnings around that. So make sure you
03:04keep up to date with the latest forecast.
