00:00Good afternoon. Storm Jocelyn's now moving away but it's still staying windy
00:03across northern eastern areas of the country but elsewhere plenty of hazy
00:07sunshine and some dry weather at last across the UK. But this low area of low
00:12pressure you can see here this is the remnants of storm Jocelyn brought gusts
00:16of around 70 miles per hour inland last night but behind it we've still got
00:20quite tightly packed isobars bringing that's bringing that windier weather
00:24across the north and east. Further west though we've got pressure building a
00:28kink in the isobars showing higher pressure so we'll be turning more
00:32settled for a time across more western areas and we're also going to see this
00:36warm front push upwards overnight across the country so staying with the milder
00:41feel for many areas through the rest of the day and into Thursday as well.
00:46However we do then see these cold fronts sweep across the country through
00:50Thursday night and they could bring some pretty blustery rain particularly this
00:54second cold front here so that'll be one to watch. But then for Friday we've
00:58got colder air so a fresher feel but higher pressure again so a fairly fine
01:02day on the cards for Friday. So plenty of changes on the way a few fronts to come
01:06and go but for now we've got plenty of hazy sunshine across the country through
01:11the afternoon. Still a wind warning in force for northeastern areas throughout
01:14the afternoon we could particularly over the Pennines we could see gusts of around
01:1860 miles per hour. Elsewhere though it should be more settled and as I said
01:23plenty of hazy sunshine a risk of showers across northwestern areas of
01:26Scotland. Northern Ireland could see the odd shower as well a little bit windier
01:30across the north coast too. In the south and west though you'd notice the clouds
01:34starting to build through the afternoon could see some drizzly rain arriving
01:37into the Scilly Isles in the far west of Cornwall through the evening and that
01:41more drizzly cloudier weather will push up northwards through the night but that
01:45will also introduce milder temperatures and it'll be mild afternoons still highs
01:49of 11 or 12 degrees possibly 13 degrees across more central areas but still
01:54around 9 or 10 degrees across the north too. So a mild feel but the temperatures
01:58will drop off quite quickly through tonight through the first part of the
02:02evening at least particularly across the north and east where there's a risk of
02:05frost by tomorrow morning but it's in the south and west as that cloud builds
02:08that the temperatures actually increase through the second part of the night. So
02:11a chilly evening but by tomorrow morning it will feel quite different across many
02:16central and western areas of the UK. In the east though a different story
02:21potential for frost and also some low cloud perhaps a mist and fog so a bit of
02:26a murky feel here tomorrow morning and a chilly one but in the south and west
02:31look 10 or 11 degrees that's above the daytime maximum for this time of year so
02:35definitely another mild start in the south and west tomorrow but that gloomy
02:40feel will persist through much of the day so much cloudier day for the bulk of
02:43the country drizzly rain coming and going quite persistent rain in fact for
02:47Northern Ireland many areas of Scotland bringing some hill snow to the higher
02:51mountains but the drizzly rain will persist across much of Western Wales as
02:55well as the southwest of England too. In the south and east though it should stay dry
03:00but it will be fairly cloudy through much of the day southerly winds again
03:04continuing to bring in that mild air so it will be another mild day highs of 13
03:09possibly 14 degrees through Thursday afternoon and then notice through
03:15Thursday evening that's when we see that quite blustery band of rain starting to
03:19move in from the west it will stay to the west of much the UK through the
03:23evening but it's overnight and we'll likely see that blustery rain but ahead
03:26of it staying much in the same vein as the daytime through Thursday evening but
03:31with plenty of cloud and more persistent rain in the south and west so some
03:36blustery rain on the way for Friday if you'd like any more details on your
