00:00Good evening. Things will slowly start to improve for the next few days or so at least
00:04as Storm Gerrit moves away slowly but surely. But we've still got low pressure in charge
00:10so some further unsettled wet and windy weather to come. We'll see these occluded fronts move
00:14through on Friday bringing bands of showers before this ridge of higher pressure develops
00:19for a time on Saturday. So not a bad start to Saturday potentially before things deteriorate
00:24as this next air of low pressure moves in. This could be another stormy spell but the
00:29strongest winds are expected to affect the Republic of Ireland this time. However, there's
00:34probably be some wet and windy weather through much of Saturday afternoon. Through the rest
00:38of the evening though we'll see continued showers across many northern areas of the
00:42UK. We've got a northerly wind starting to develop across the far north of Scotland and
00:47as those showers bump into that cold air we'll continue to see some snow falling over the
00:51hills at first over eastern areas of Scotland but to lower levels by tomorrow morning. Further
00:56south we'll see clear spells but with the strength of the breeze that will mean there'll
01:00be another mild start to the day tomorrow. Potentially a sunnier start for Wales and
01:05many central and eastern areas of England but the sunshine will likely turn a little
01:10bit hazier by the afternoon and showers will quickly develop from the west once again.
01:15The winds won't be quite as strong so in any sunshine you do see particularly across eastern
01:19areas of the UK it won't feel too bad. However, we're starting to see this colder air push
01:24further south into more central and southern areas of Scotland, north-eastern England as
01:30well also seeing that colder air so there will be quite a chilly feel to things across
01:34these areas by tomorrow morning and persistent rain will continue to move in through much
01:39of the day and into the evening across parts of Northern Ireland, north-western England
01:43and parts of south-west Scotland too. Could see some snow over the Pennines as well for
01:48a time but for many of us it should dry out through the course of Friday night and that
01:53could lead to quite a frosty night particularly where we have any lying snow and lighter winds
01:58across parts of Scotland, north-eastern England too but many southern areas seeing quite a
02:02chilly start to the day on Saturday but again some sunshine to be had so not a bad day to
02:08get up early and enjoy some of the brighter weather. Because things will change through
02:13the course of the day as this next area of low pressure pushes in from the west it'll
02:17bring a narrow band of rain but quite a gusty band of rain and as that rain moves up into
02:22Scotland into that colder air we could see some further sleet and snow so there's potential
02:26for some further travel disruption through the course of Saturday so if you are travelling
02:31moving about on Saturday it's worth keeping up to date with the details on that one and
02:35checking before you travel. So some further disruptive weather potentially on Saturday,
02:40New Year's Eve looks like another blustery day but New Year's Day we could see some drier
02:45and colder weather. That's all for now and I'll see you later.
