00:00Hello there, welcome to your weather update from the Met Office. Now through
00:03Wednesday evening, overnight and into Thursday, a band of rain will sink its
00:07way southwards with blustery showers to follow. Let's pick up on the bigger
00:11picture. This low-pressure system here continues to bring some showery rain
00:15into the early hours of Thursday morning. It is clearing eastwards as this one pushes
00:19in from the west as it hits the cold air across Scotland. We could see snow above
00:23around 400 metres but it will swiftly move down towards the southeast with a
00:28bit of a squeeze on the isobars behind towards the northwest. Elsewhere, some
00:31brighter skies to follow but that cloud lingering on with some patchy rain
00:35across eastern counties. In fact, through Wednesday evening, we continue with a
00:40keen breeze here and some showery bursts. A frost first thing through the
00:45evening time across Scotland. It will lift as this rain across Northern Ireland
00:49and Western Scotland pushes ever eastwards. Dry slots in between, here we
00:53could see some patchy fog and then eventually there's a back edge to this
00:57rain. It could turn heavy for a time, a bit squally, before we see showers
01:00following. By this point, through the early hours, rain will have arrived
01:04across Wales, the West Country, northern counties of England as well as the West
01:08Midlands. A cold start to the day across eastern counties of England and here
01:12we'll see more in the way of cloud. However, across Scotland, it's a blustery
01:17breeze, frequent showers towards the northwest but eventually, once the sun
01:21rises, some brighter skies further east. Now, a similar situation for Northern
01:25Ireland. A few showers skirting the far north. Now, through the morning, more clouds
01:29across northern counties of England and that extends down across much of Wales,
01:33the West Country and the rest of England with some outbreaks of rain. But the rain
01:36mostly light and patchy and it is clearing with some swiftness from the
01:42west as we head through the morning. So, through the morning, we watch as these
01:46showers continue to pile in across the northwest. Again, strong winds here. The
01:51rain then clears the far north of England by around mid-morning. West
01:55Wales then seeing some of brighter weather but we hang on to that low cloud
01:59outbreaks of rain which will be mostly light and patchy through the afternoon
02:03anywhere from Fenlands down towards central southern England. But by this
02:07point, yes, some brighter weather for northern counties, mid Wales as well.
02:11Showers continue across the north as well as the west of Scotland but some
02:15brighter weather across eastern counties. Here, temperatures only around 7 degrees
02:19Celsius but we'll see 10 to 12 towards the southwest of England as well as
02:23Wales through the latter part of the day. Now, through Thursday evening and
02:28overnight, this rain clears towards the low countries and then some clearer skies
02:32yet again across England and Wales. Those showers continue across the north and
02:37west of Scotland, clipping Northern Ireland but more clouds to start the day
02:41as we head into Friday morning. Any sunshine as we enter Friday will be
02:46rather hazy with a veil of high clouds extending across the country and a
02:50chilly start across much of England and Wales and eastern Scotland here. Whereas
02:55further west, we'll see temperatures slightly higher and again more of a
02:58breeze. So here's a snapshot of your weather on Friday lunchtime. You can see
03:03more rain coming in courtesy of a warm front so that's pushing towards the
03:07northeast. Drier skies towards the northeast by around lunchtime but we'll
03:12see some rain later. Northern Ireland seeing some patchy rain to start the day,
03:15creeping in across the northwest of England as well as West Wales through
03:19lunchtime but brighter weather anywhere from northern and eastern counties of
03:23England down towards mid Wales, the West Country as well as the southeast. So not
03:27a bad day after some drizzly bits and pieces on Thursday. So here's your city's
03:32list through Friday afternoon. Temperatures 9, 10, 11 degrees Celsius.
03:36It's nudging up and what you'll notice the difference in temperatures by night
03:40through the weekend as this ridge extends from the south and then we're
03:44under some much milder air. Still very windy across the north there and also
03:49rain comes and goes but really temperatures will be exceptional by
03:53night. By day, yes it's going to feel a lot milder and remaining settled towards
03:57the south with some brighter skies from time to time. Now if you want more
04:01details of the weather beyond that, check out our 10-day trend this week with Annie.
04:06I'll see you later.
