00:00Hello there, welcome to your Wednesday morning forecast from the Met Office.
00:04Wet for some today with some strong wind but also some brighter skies around.
00:09Let me take you through the bigger picture.
00:11A rain warning until 8am this morning across south-east Scotland, north-east England
00:16with a strong wind here.
00:17Frosty across western and northern Scotland, some clearer skies.
00:21A few showers running down the Irish Sea but the cloud is breaking across Northern Ireland,
00:25more cloud generally across England and Wales
00:27and this showery rain continues across much of England and mid Wales through this morning.
00:32This wind will be a feature of the weather along the eastern side as we head through the morning
00:36particularly across East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire with some pulses of rain continuing.
00:40However, improving picture for south-east Scotland, some brighter skies emerging
00:44and we lose the showers across the far north of Scotland away from Shetland.
00:47Brighter skies to end the day across Northern Ireland, Scotland, north-west England
00:51and some parts of Wales seeing that cloud break.
00:54Also down towards the west country, a few showers clipping the far south-west though
00:57and showery rain just keeps on continuing and persisting
01:00anywhere from the midlands eastwards through the afternoon.
01:03Here it's going to feel cold in that wind.
01:06Temperatures 7 or 8 degrees Celsius at the very best, 5 or 6 for Scotland
01:09at least though you'll see some brighter weather.
01:11Now an early frost through Wednesday evening across Scotland
01:14before this cloud and rain arrives from the west
01:17and this will bring with it strong winds and the rain will slowly move in through Wednesday evening.
01:22Elsewhere, drier skies through Wednesday evening and overnight
01:26before the rain arrives across northern England, Wales and the west country
01:29into the early hours of Thursday morning.
01:31Some heavy pulses on the back edge of this rain before it clears
01:35western Scotland with blustery showers to follow
01:37and the cloud thickens towards more eastern counties through the early hours of the morning.
01:41You could even see some snow over the highest ground of Scotland
01:44into Thursday morning associated with this rain band.
01:47However, through Thursday, brighter skies yet again for Northern Ireland, western Scotland
01:51as the rain clears the rest of Scotland.
01:53More clouds and outbreaks of rain through the morning, northern England, Wales, the west country
01:57and some spits and spots of rain ahead of it as well across central and eastern areas of England.
02:02Through the day, the rain just wanes, it fades away
02:05even so we hang on to a legacy of cloud across eastern counties.
02:08Brighter skies elsewhere, but these showers will be blustery
02:11and rattle across the north and the west of Scotland on a strong wind
02:15and the wind will be a feature of the weather into the weekend
02:18across northern and western parts of Scotland.
02:20Before that though, you take care and I'll see you soon.
