15 November - National weather forecast presented by Alex Burkill.

00:00Hello, very good morning to you. We have a bit of a north-south split in our weather
00:04at the moment. Cloudier, wetter weather across northern areas, drier and brighter further
00:09south. But our attention has already turned to this area of low pressure that's pushing
00:13its way up from the southwest and is going to bring some very wet and windy weather as
00:18we go through Thursday, particularly across southern parts of the UK. Back to the here
00:23and now though, and like I said, a north-south split. Cloudy skies across northern parts
00:28with outbreaks of rain, some of these heavy at times. Further south across central southern
00:32England, Wales and also Northern Ireland, a good deal of dry and sunny weather today,
00:37albeit with the chance of a few showers, particularly across parts of Wales and southwest England.
00:42Also largely sunny skies across parts of northern Scotland, with a few showers likely for the
00:46Northern Isles. Temperatures, well they are a little bit below average for the time of
00:50year, ranging from around 8 or 9 Celsius in the north to 12 to 13 Celsius further south.
00:56As we go through this evening and overnight, we're going to stick with the largely cloudy
01:00skies across many northern parts. The rain though will largely clear away, so turning
01:04drier here. And then there is some drier, clearer weather for a time before that wet
01:09and windy spell that I mentioned earlier pushes its way in across southwestern parts through
01:14the early hours of Thursday morning. This will then also lift temperatures, so a relatively
01:19mild start in the southwest. Chillier elsewhere, particularly towards the northeast of Scotland.
01:24I am expecting temperatures to dip below freezing here. As we go through Thursday, then a reversal
01:29in our fortunes compared to today. The driest, sunniest weather will be across northern areas
01:35where it will stay mostly fine. However, across Northern Ireland we'll have some wet weather
01:39and across many parts of central southern England and Wales it is looking very wet and
01:44very windy too. We could see 30 to 50 millimetres perhaps in some places and gusts in excess
01:49of 50 miles per hour are possible, so there could be some disruption, particularly on
01:54the roads. Temperatures, well, similar to today for many places, but under the wet and
02:00windy weather it is going to feel relatively unpleasant. As we look ahead towards the weekend,
02:05and Friday at the moment is looking largely dry. There will be a few showers around, but
02:09definitely a drier picture for many than on Thursday. However, the wet and windy weather
02:14will return as we go into the weekend. Some heavy rain and some very strong winds are
02:18quite likely, but we should also see our temperatures lifting as well. We'll have
02:23more information on that in our 10 day trend, which will be available on our YouTube channel
02:27later this afternoon. Otherwise, I'll see you later. Bye bye.
