7 November - National weather forecast presented by Alex Burkill.
Transcript
00:00Hello, very good afternoon to you. Many of us will see a fair amount of sunshine as we
00:04go through the rest of today, but there will also be a scattering of showers around before
00:09wet and windy weather arrives overnight. That's in association with this frontal system waiting
00:14out in the Atlantic. At the moment, there's low pressure towards the northeast of the
00:18UK, and it's around this low that we're getting our west northwesterly winds. On those winds,
00:23we're seeing showers pushing their way in from the west through this afternoon, so heaviest
00:27towards western parts, and some of the showers could feed a little bit further eastwards,
00:31but eastern areas likely to stay that bit drier. Like I said, a fair amount of sunshine
00:36today, but temperatures are near average for the time of year, so a bit of a chilly feel
00:40to things. Highs of around 13, possibly 14 Celsius in the south, and a few degrees colder
00:45than this further north. As we go through this evening and overnight, we are going to
00:49see a brief ridge of high pressure, so that should ease the showers for a time. We'll
00:53see some clear skies, so a chilly start tonight, perhaps some patches of mist and fog before
00:58wind and rain then pushes its way in from the west, and some of that rain could be quite
01:02heavy at times. As well as that, with the cloud, the wet and windy weather, we're going
01:06to see our temperatures rising. After an initially chilly start to the night, it should be relatively
01:11mild by the time many of us wake up on Wednesday morning. It is also going to be a wet and
01:17windy start for many of us. That rain is still with some heavy outbreaks across western parts
01:21of Scotland, northwest England, then sweeping its way from west to east. Likely to take
01:26quite a while to clear eastern and southeastern parts as we go through the afternoon, but
01:31something drier and brighter following in behind for most, though some blustery showers
01:36which could be heavy across parts of western Scotland and perhaps Northern Ireland too.
01:41Temperatures in the north likely to be down a degree or two compared to today, but in
01:45the south it's probably going to be similar, so again, highs around 13 or 14 Celsius. More
01:51showery weather to come as we go through the rest of the week. The showers could be
01:54heavy for some of us, particularly in the west, and it will be breezy at times too,
01:59especially around coastal parts. But then, Saturday at the moment looks like it could
02:03be largely dry before more unsettled weather arrives on Sunday. We'll have more information
02:08on that as we get nearer the time. Remember, you can stay up to date by following us on
02:13YouTube. Bye bye.
