00:00After a stormy weekend the weather's a lot calmer for Monday but there is more
00:05rain to come on Tuesday that's in the form of another area of low pressure
00:10circulating out here in the Atlantic. This little swirl that was storm Fergus
00:15that moved across the country during Sunday night and Monday morning. Now
00:19clearing away taking some wet and windy weather across the low countries then
00:23we've got this little bump this little ridge of high pressure which will bring
00:26most places a fine day today. You can see on the radar though there have been a
00:30few showers just feeding into northwest England and a cloudier zone here
00:34extending down from Lancashire to Norfolk. A lot of cloud across eastern
00:39Scotland and a few showers continuing here fairly light showers but enough of
00:43a breeze to keep things feeling pretty chilly here. Elsewhere with a bit of
00:46sunshine much lighter winds compared to yesterday. Temperatures getting up in
00:51the south into double figures maybe 12 perhaps even 13 Celsius along the
00:55south coast but just single figure six or seven further north so still feeling
00:59pretty chilly here. Out west look at this arc of rain that's moving in that's the
01:04next area of low pressure it's going to bring some pretty wet conditions to
01:08Northern Ireland through this evening and that rain likely to be heavy and it
01:12could linger for a good part of the night so that could cause some problems.
01:15We do have a Met Office yellow warning in place across Northern Ireland. The
01:19rain will spread into southwest Scotland, northern England and across much of the
01:23Midlands turn towards southern England by morning followed by further heavy and
01:27blustery showers. With the winds picking up and a lot of cloud and outbreaks of
01:31rain to be a fairly mild night in the south we could at least for a time get
01:35down close to freezing across parts of Scotland where skies stay clear. But the
01:39cloud the rain will be moving into southern Scotland again could be quite
01:42heavy and could cause some problems just because it has been so very wet as that
01:47rain moves into northeast England and eastern Scotland in particular that rain
01:51building up through the day could cause some disruption so again have Met Office
01:55warning in place for here. Further south likely to see some heavy showers
01:59particularly in the morning across the south thunderstorms possible moving along on a
02:04fairly brisk wind so the heavy rain shouldn't last all that long but
02:08nevertheless could be some large hailstones mixed in with these
02:11thunderstorms across the south something to keep an eye on. There should be something of a
02:15drier zone across maybe parts of the Midlands, south Wales with a bit of
02:19brightness but for many it's a cloudy day with rain on and off and as I say those
02:23heavy showers across parts of the south. The breeze again bringing the cloud the
02:27rain in from the North Sea making it feel quite shitty in the south again
02:30likely to reach double digits bit of brightness could see temperatures into
02:34the teens. Low pressure continues to dominate you can see it all swirling
02:39around sitting over the UK so further heavy showers to come on Tuesday evening
02:42perhaps slow moving heavy downpours into parts of northern England and the
02:47Midlands could again cause some issues as we go through Tuesday evening but
02:51after that the low pressure that's sitting over us starts to pull away. Now
02:57there are weather fronts bumping in over the course of the middle part of the
03:01week but they're going to get kind of squeezed out by this an area of high
03:05pressure moving up from the south which should start to calm things down and dry
03:10things out for many of us through the second half of this week. For more on
