00:00Hello. After all the stormy weather across the UK yesterday, thankfully today is looking
00:04a little bit calmer across the UK. But that being said, we still do have a fair few showers
00:09across the country, particularly focused across much of Scotland, North East England here,
00:12a lot of cloud around, some heavy frequent showers with the risk of hail and thunder
00:16as well. Elsewhere though, across England and Wales, generally a dry, brighter day compared
00:20to yesterday, more in the way of sunshine, still the risk of some showers, particularly
00:23towards that south east corner where they could be heavy with the risk of hail and thunder.
00:27Lighter winds for most of the country compared to yesterday, still some quite gusty winds
00:31across that central slice. Temperatures generally milder for most areas compared to yesterday,
00:3511 to 13 degrees in the south, but still quite cool underneath that cloud and rain further
00:40towards the north. As we head through the rest of the evening and overnight, we still
00:44hang on to a lot of cloud, shower outbreaks of rain towards the north east of the country.
00:47But elsewhere across much of England, Wales, Northern Ireland, turning drier, clear spells
00:50developing one or two mist and fog patches before more cloud and rain spreads in towards
00:54the south west as we head through the night with some strengthening winds here too. That
00:58cloud will keep the temperatures up towards the south west, so hot lows not falling below
01:016 or 7. But elsewhere across the country, quite a chilly night to come. Temperatures
01:05in rural spots falling close to freezing, so a touch of frost here. So we pick up on
01:10that cloud and rain towards the south west of England to start the day, just fringing
01:13into south Wales as well. So quite a wet picture here, still some strong gusty winds towards
01:17the south coast. But elsewhere across the country, after a fairly dry start for many
01:21of us, showers developing quite widely through the morning and by the afternoon. Heavy frequent
01:25showers particularly towards the east, something a little bit dry and brighter towards the
01:29north west, but I think anywhere prone to a shower. Again, as I said, those showers
01:33could be heavy, slow moving as well, thanks to lighter winds. So temperatures again relatively
01:37cool for the time of the year. We're looking at highs of 10 to 12 degrees. I think if you're
01:40under a heavy shower, feeling particularly chilly. As we head through the rest of Friday
01:45into the evening and overnight, then we hang on to a lot of shower outbreaks of rain across
01:48much of the country, some heavier, more persistent rain across many southeastern parts for a
01:52time, but turning a bit drier and clearer from the west as we head through the night
01:56and under those clear skies turning fairly chilly once again.
02:00So after a fairly unsettled week this week, it does start to calm down a little bit as
02:03we head through the weekend into next week. We lose the low pressure, still focus some
02:07weather fronts towards the far north west, but elsewhere high pressure builds towards
02:10the north and the east of the UK. That will turn it dry and brighter for many parts, more
02:14in the west sunshine and turning a little bit warmer as well, although we do pick up
02:17quite a strong easterly breeze.
