00:00Welcome to your national weather from the Met Office. Clouds spilling in on
00:04Monday night will make for a fairly grey day for most of us on Tuesday with rain
00:08at times particularly across the northern half of the UK thanks to this
00:11area of low pressure. In the south this high is trying to hang on but this low
00:16is all the while squeezing things away. Ahead of that we've got a little ridge
00:20of high pressure which will bring most places a dry start to Tuesday. The heavy
00:25showers are seen on Monday evening clearing away and then most places will
00:29have a dry night until that weather system arrives bringing rain to Northern
00:32Ireland and Western Scotland by dawn. Light winds for most, a fair bit of
00:36clouds spilling in from the west but temperatures will drop away to maybe 11
00:42or 12 of course parts of the east further west holding up at 15 degrees
00:46Celsius. So a warmish night not as warm as it was at the weekend but a little
00:50bit warmer than it was through Sunday night and into Monday. On to the details
00:54for Tuesday and we are looking at a fairly damp morning for Northern Ireland
00:57south-west Scotland. That rain will spread across Scotland through the day.
01:00We'll see some of it trickling into Northern England, parts of North and West
01:05Wales. So rain on and off here. Eventually we may see a little bit
01:08getting into the east of the Pennines and finally into parts of Northeast
01:12Scotland towards the end of the day. All the while Western Scotland staying
01:15pretty soggy. Parts the east of Northern Ireland may dry up and certainly bar a
01:20little bit of rain across the Midlands much of the southern half of the UK will
01:24be dry. It looks fairly cloudy though compared to Monday across the south
01:28after perhaps a bit of a bright start. Temperatures will be similar to Monday's
01:32across the north but feeling probably a bit cooler with the outbreaks of rain
01:3518-19. So similar to average in the south getting into the low 20s but again
01:40just a degree or so down perhaps without as much sunshine. The breeze will be
01:44picking up turning things quite misty and murky in the west as well around
01:48coasts and hills and we'll see further outbreaks of rain crossing eastern
01:52England and Scotland during Tuesday evening before tending to ease off as we
01:57head into Wednesday morning. So most places will start Wednesday dry. As we go
02:02through the day however we are looking at another weather system moving in
02:06which will bring some further outbreaks of rain and it's going to be a warmer
02:10night as well a more humid night and that humidity may well spark some heavy
02:14outbreaks of rain later on Wednesday in particular. Now as I said most places
02:18start dry but there'll be some rain and drizzle over the hills of England and
02:21Wales and it won't take long before some rain moves across Northern Ireland
02:25through southern Scotland and then into parts of England and Wales with some
02:28heavier bursts mixed in with this. To the north of that the odd shower but a
02:32fresher feel. Further south staying largely dry over the Midlands and
02:36eastern and southern England's but it will be a cloudy day quite a humid day
02:4024-25 in the London area possibly even 26 degrees Celsius. So a bit more of a
02:45temperature contrast between northwest and southeast on Wednesday and that's
02:49because this line of rain is a weather front. Now that could get pretty lively
02:53could provide some heavy outbreaks of rain during Wednesday across parts of
02:57England and Wales moving eastwards as we go through the evening and overnight and
03:02it may even spark some thunderstorms before it slowly clears away. Some
03:06uncertainty about exactly when it will clear from the southeast on Thursday too
03:10and then we're looking at the weather chopping and changing as more weather
03:13fronts move in as we head towards the weekend. A more typical summer's week of
03:18weather with some rain at times but some sunny spells and temperatures generally
03:22close to the average for the time of year. For a full week ahead forecast
