00:00Hello, welcome to your national weather update.
00:02A bit of a wet Monday for large chunks of the country.
00:06Low pressure will continue to dominate for most of this week,
00:08actually.
00:09Here's the view from space.
00:11There's a low pressure sitting here,
00:13but it's actually ahead of it.
00:14We've got these little weather features just
00:16pushing in quite a lot of cloud through the course of Monday.
00:19To start the day, we actually had quite a bit of brightness.
00:21And still, parts of East Anglia and the Southeast
00:23staying dry and fine through the rest of Monday.
00:25But elsewhere, we've seen the rain moving in,
00:28and it is now spreading steadily northwards across Wales,
00:31Northern England, and into much of Scotland.
00:33As the rain starts to clear this afternoon,
00:34some big thunderstorms are likely across Northern Ireland.
00:37So we have a Met Office warning in place
00:40for that lot of rain falling in a relatively
00:42short space of time.
00:43Now, a few showers will keep going
00:45in South Wales and southwest England,
00:46but generally here, just dry and cloudy.
00:49Some sunny spells across East Anglia and the Southeast,
00:52a bit of brightness across the far northeast of Scotland
00:55as well.
00:55But further west, we've got the cloud.
00:57Some gusty winds at times around these western coasts.
01:01So a pretty mixed picture through the day,
01:03where we've got the rain temperatures struggling,
01:0517, 18 at best, with some brightness
01:08across the east and southeast.
01:09We might get up to 23 or 24.
01:11But for most, we're generally in the low 20s.
01:14And feeling cooler with the rain,
01:15which will get heavier and more extensive across Scotland
01:18through this evening.
01:19So we have another Met Office warning for rain.
01:22That rain, again, likely to last for much of the night
01:25and so could cause some disruption.
01:27But equally, further south, a band of heavy rain
01:29moving into parts of the Midlands
01:31and then into East Anglia and across southern counties
01:33of England.
01:34Some welcome rain, admittedly, because it has been so dry.
01:37But a pretty soggy night for most areas,
01:40turning a little clearer over parts of northern England
01:42and maybe the Midlands later in the night.
01:45A pretty warm night, as you might imagine,
01:47with a lot of cloud around and a brisk breeze
01:49for many temperatures, mostly holding into the teens.
01:51And pretty warm and humid across East Anglia
01:53and the southeast 16 or 17 as a low here.
01:56So a humid and damp start to Tuesday.
01:59Further rain to come for East Anglia
02:01and much of southern England.
02:02It should peter out as we go through the morning.
02:06And then elsewhere, it's a mixture
02:07of sunshine and showers.
02:09The showers really getting going from late morning onwards.
02:12They'll be moving through on the breeze
02:14across England and Wales.
02:15But lighter winds across Scotland
02:17mean the showers could be very slow moving
02:19and may well develop into big thunderstorms
02:21come the afternoon.
02:22So again, the potential for some disruption
02:24from slow moving heavy downpours here
02:27during Tuesday afternoon and into the evening.
02:30There will, as I say, be some zones
02:31that don't see too many showers and see
02:33some decent spirals of sunshine.
02:36There'll be a breeze pushing the showers along.
02:38And that will make it feel cooler.
02:40Again, temperatures still around or a touch below average
02:43for most places, high teens, low 20s at best.
02:47During Tuesday evening, not a great deal of change.
02:49Still the showers.
02:50Of course, most parts of the country, still some heavy ones
02:53and still some slow moving downpours
02:55across parts of Scotland where the winds remain light.
02:59That's from an area of low pressure, which
03:01will dominate our weather.
03:03Slowly pulling away through the middle of the week.
03:05More showers on Wednesday.
03:06Thursday looks your best bet for a drier day
03:09with high pressure at least flirting
03:11with some parts of the country.
03:12But even Thursday won't be completely dry.
03:15And look at that, more weather systems moving in for Friday,
03:18likely to bring further spells of rain.
03:20If you've got plans this week, as I said,
03:22Thursday is your best bet for a dry day.
