00:00Welcome to your National Weather Update, another day of downpour dodging.
00:05There'll be more showers to come on Wednesday as well.
00:07Low pressure is dominating the situation.
00:10This is the view from space. You can just about make out the swirl there.
00:13That's the low pressure and this trailing weather front that brought
00:17quite a lot of heavy rain during Monday evening.
00:19That has been fizzling out and pulling away,
00:22leaving behind its legacy of quite a lot of cloud and some showers here,
00:26but it's really close to the low where the showers will be especially heavy
00:30and quite slow moving this afternoon, potentially turning into thunderstorms.
00:33So, potential for some problems from those downpours across Scotland later.
00:37Scattered showers elsewhere and some sunny spells.
00:40Of course, south of Scotland, Northern Ireland, Northern England,
00:43there will be some brightness, a bit of blue sky between the showers.
00:47But when the showers come along, at least further south,
00:50they'll be tending to move through because of a fairly brisk breeze,
00:53but still likely to drop quite a bit of rain in a short space of time.
00:56And that brisk breeze will bring a cooler feel.
00:59Temperatures mostly still a touch below average.
01:02You might squeak up to 22 or 23 across the southeast
01:05if we see any decent spells of sunshine here.
01:08Now, we'll keep heavy showers going in many areas through this evening,
01:11particularly again across northern Scotland.
01:13But the showers set to return quite widely across Northern Ireland through the night.
01:16And we'll see some more wet weather working into northwest England by dawn.
01:20In most of England and Wales, it does turn largely dry through this evening.
01:23The showers fade and we'll keep some decent clear spells overnight.
01:26Temperatures mostly holding up in the teens.
01:29So, generally, we'll start the day on Wednesday at about 13 or 14.
01:32We should start, though, with a bit more sunshine across the Midlands
01:35and eastern and southern parts of England on Wednesday compared to Tuesday.
01:39More cloud moving in over northern England, though, further showery rain here.
01:43More showers to come across northern Scotland through Northern Ireland.
01:46And we'll see showers developing during the day further south.
01:49But not as many. There's a chance that some places in the south,
01:53particularly south Wales and southwest England, will have a dry afternoon.
01:57And elsewhere, perhaps a bit more in the way of sunshine.
01:59Not as many showers around on Wednesday afternoon compared to Tuesday,
02:03but still some fairly lively ones coming in at times across northern Scotland.
02:07Still a fair breeze blowing and still a relatively cool feel for most as well.
02:13The low pressure system continues to pull away up to the north,
02:16but some heavy showers likely over the northern isles continuing through Wednesday evening.
02:20Elsewhere, still a few showers around, but they'll fade away through the evening.
02:24Many places, again, becoming dry into Thursday.
02:27And as the low continues to pull away, Thursday will probably be the driest day of the week.
02:33But look at this. Further low pressure systems gathering and intensifying,
02:38heading towards us for Friday.
02:40So, plenty going on with the weather this week.
