11 September - National weather forecast presented by Alex Deakin.
Transcript
00:00Much cooler the weather this week and generally more mixed compared to last week as well.
00:04But the warmth is still hanging on as we start Tuesday across the southeast.
00:09Temperatures in the high teens still, whereas further north well down into single figures.
00:14The contrast is being created by a weather front, a line of cloud and outbreaks of rain that are
00:20slowly trickling southwards. One or two heavy showers ahead of that weather front as well.
00:25It'll tend to work its way across Wales into the Midlands bringing
00:28rain and drizzle here through the early hours of the morning.
00:31Further north that's where we've got the clear skies but it does mean we start with
00:34quite a bit of sunshine here. A few scattered showers over the far north.
00:38Still warm then across the southeast to begin with on Tuesday and still the humidity which may
00:44trigger again one or two heavy, perhaps even thundery showers through the afternoon.
00:48So that needs watching. A dull damp start across the Midlands and that rain will
00:53only slowly trickle across East Anglia but brightening up for Wales and southwest England
00:57with some sunny spells and much of the day for southern Scotland and Northern Ireland also
01:02set fair. Quite a bit of cloud over northern England with a breeze off the
01:06North Sea. It'll feel quite a bit cooler along some of those coasts.
01:10In the sunny spells across Wales we should still get into the high teens but that's quite a bit
01:15cooler than it was last week. Still quite humid I suspect across the southeast. As I said the
01:19potential for one or two thunderstorms here during the afternoon which may rumble on into
01:25the evening as well. So that's an area we need to keep an eye on. We'll keep the cloud and the
01:28outbreaks of rain trickling into parts of Lincolnshire and East Anglia into the evening but
01:33should die out overnight. Most places will be dry and clear through the night with light winds.
01:38It's going to be colder still. A greater chance of seeing those temperatures down to freezing across
01:44the shelter glens of Scotland as we start Wednesday. So a fresh start but generally
01:49it will be a bright start with quite a bit of sunshine on. Still reasonably mild across the
01:54southeast but these temperatures are finally now starting to drop away even here and it will
01:59generally be quite a cloudy start to Wednesday across the southeast and clouding over across
02:04Northern Ireland through the day with outbreaks of rain pushing in here late on and the same goes for
02:09western parts of Scotland. But for many Wednesday set fair dry and fine with sunny spells and light
02:14winds and temperatures much closer to average generally into the high teens. But this is a
02:20swirl of cloud and rain. It's an area of low pressure that will head its way across Scotland
02:25and Northern Ireland during Wednesday night and bring a wet and windy spell at least for a time.
