00:00Hello, colder weather is on the way for the start of next week with the risk of snow in
00:05places. There's a detailed look at the potential for snow next week in a special video on our
00:10YouTube channel. But given that we have advanced sight of this cold weather now, it's worth
00:14preparing if you are, for example, travelling next week because snowy weather can cause
00:20delays and create dangerous driving conditions. So, the question is, are you weather ready?
00:25If not, you can get weather ready by heading to the Met Office website for plenty of tips.
00:29On how to prepare yourself for cold and snowy weather, one of the tips would be to prepare
00:34a car kit now in case you need it next week. And of course, if you are travelling next
00:39week, make sure you check for any delays. For the time being, no such trouble because
00:44it's relatively quiet out there on Friday night. A lot of cloud in the forecast for
00:49England, Wales, parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland. But there are some breaks as well
00:53and under any broken cloud, we'll see a touch of frost in places, especially west and southwest
00:59Scotland, northwest England. Where we keep the cloud, of course, temperatures will stay
01:03up at three to five Celsius. A few showers coming into the north of Scotland and through
01:08Saturday, those showers will increasingly start to arrive on a northerly wind into North
01:14Sea coasts. And so, for eastern England, eastern Scotland, we will see scattered and light
01:19showers appearing. But for many, it's another dry, albeit rather cloudy day on Saturday.
01:25The best of any brighter spells towards the west. Thicker cloud for southern, central
01:30and eastern areas. Temperatures, much as they have been through the week, seven to eight
01:34Celsius, perhaps nine degrees in one or two spots. One exception, Shetland. Already, the
01:39temperatures are starting to get lower here. The cold air is on its way. Northerly winds
01:44for Shetland and northerly winds for northern Scotland will push showers in more widely
01:51across northern Scotland as we go into Saturday night. The showers in the North Sea will
01:55drift into central parts of England and it's another cloudy night for most. And that means
01:59that it will be largely frost free. Although, if we get any cloud breaks, a touch of frost
02:04couldn't be ruled out. Three to five Celsius, so chill in the air as we start off Sunday
02:08but mostly frost free. Sunday looks like a more showery day compared with Saturday. Those
02:14showers at first affecting parts of Scotland, northern and western England, as well as Wales.
02:18But you can see how they develop fairly widely as we go through the day on Sunday and perhaps
02:23become more prolonged across northern Scotland. And as cold air tucks in here, the chance
02:28of some hill snow and some sleet at slightly lower elevations. It's going to start to feel
02:33colder as well on Sunday. Temperatures won't be that different but the wind will have a
02:38lower dew point. It's going to feel colder certainly in that wind as it comes in from
02:44the north. And that colder air is going to develop widely at the start of next week.
02:51Initially these weather fronts will bring a spell of rain, sleet and hill snow southwards
02:56as they move through. And they'll be followed by this arctic air across the whole of the
03:01country by Tuesday. Cold enough for any precipitation to be falling as snow. But the most frequent
03:07snow showers will be affecting northern and eastern Scotland as well as northeast England.
03:13That's where we have a yellow snow and ice warning in force for Monday. The extent of
03:17that warning grows a little on Tuesday as the colder air pushes further south. And then
03:23during the middle of the week, well we're starting to monitor areas of low pressure
03:27as they could move in and bring some rain with some snow on the leading edge. More detail
03:32on that as I said at the start of this forecast on our YouTube channel. So make sure you take
03:36a look at that if you're interested. And as I said earlier, make sure you are weather
03:41ready. Bye bye.
