00:00Hi there, further blustery showers are expected through the rest of Friday and the start of
00:06the weekend before it turns colder, however it will also turn brighter through Sunday
00:11and Monday. Now for the rest of Friday, showers just about anywhere, the showers will be lively
00:16with the risk of thunder and hail in places. They'll be most frequent across parts of Northern
00:22Ireland, Western Scotland as well as southwestern parts of the UK and it's here where the winds
00:28will be strongest with gusts approaching gale force around some exposed west and south hills
00:34and coasts. But the winds again coming from a mild direction so temperatures above average
00:39for the time of year, 14 or 15 Celsius in the south, a little bit lower than the last
00:44few days and feeling a bit colder in the north as well, 7 to 10 Celsius here with some more
00:49persistent rain into Orkney. Then through the evening and overnight, here's the low
00:56pressure system that is responsible for all the showers, it's going to move its way across
01:00central parts of the UK and around that some longer spells of rain possible at times for
01:04southern Scotland, northern England and parts of north Wales. Either side of that, still
01:09quite a number of showers and then on the northern flank of the low, colder air arrives
01:14so low single figures and some snow starting to appear over the hills. Generally falling
01:19snow at 4 to 500 metres for northern Scotland and settling snow by dawn above 600 metres
01:26so a few centimetres possible over the hills and mountains. But in the south, frost free,
01:317 to 8 Celsius and some bright spells first thing but still a lot of showers about because
01:38this low pressure is still close by. It's moving away to the east, pulling colder air
01:43in from the north as it clears and around that low an occluded front bringing some longer
01:48spells of rain for a time. Those outbreaks of rain and the showers tending to affect
01:53central and eastern parts more than Friday and a better chance of some brighter and drier
02:00weather towards the southwest for a time. Also, there'll be further showers into the
02:05north of Scotland and again falling as snow over the hills. It's going to feel colder
02:09in the north of Scotland, 5 to 8 Celsius but another relatively mild day in the south although
02:16temperatures generally trending back towards average for the time of year, 12 to 13 Celsius.
02:21Here's the next system moving in for Saturday night. You can see some heavy rain approaching
02:26Cornwall by evening and that wet weather accompanied by a strengthening breeze as well bring a
02:31soggy night I think across southern counties of England into south Wales, perhaps reaching
02:36parts of the south midlands as well. Showers elsewhere tending to continue on and off and
02:41then this northerly feed of air arrives for Sunday itself to bring some snow showers over
02:47the hills of northern UK and also a widespread frost on Sunday night into Monday.
