00:00Hello, and welcome to the latest national weather. This settled spell of spring sunshine
00:06continues for the rest of the week and beyond. With clear skies expected tonight, temperatures
00:12will fall away and a few mist and fog patches could form in one or two spots. They'll be
00:18fairly isolated, most likely parts of eastern England, for example, just like the previous
00:23night, and temperatures dipping away as well. A touch of frost in places as we start off
00:27Thursday. Frost-free Western Isles, parts of Northern Ireland, where it will turn cloudier
00:33through the night, perhaps one or two light showers into the Western Isles, for example,
00:37and that's associated with this feature. Now, the high pressure that has been close by for
00:41so long, it's recently been bringing us dry southerly winds, but for the north and northwest
00:47of Scotland, we're going to start pulling in air from the Atlantic, so cloudier skies
00:51to come on Thursday morning in the north and west of Scotland, Northern Ireland as well,
00:56one or two spots of rain. But on the whole, after a chilly start, much of the UK still
01:02basking in that warm March sunshine and temperatures similar across England and Wales compared
01:08to recent days, 17 to 19 Celsius. Could squeeze a 20, somewhere like Cambridgeshire, for example.
01:15But for Scotland, for Northern Ireland, I think more cloud in the sky compared to recent
01:18days, particularly towards the northwest. And for somewhere like the Grampians, we could
01:23see the odd shower break out, perhaps over the Pennines as well, later in the afternoon.
01:28But that will be the exception. For the vast majority, it's simply dry and bright, with
01:33light winds feeling pleasant enough in that spring sunshine. Into the evening, clear skies
01:39once again. I think the cloud retreating back towards the north and west of Scotland, so
01:44clear skies here, and once more, a touch of frost in sheltered spots as we wake up on
01:49Friday. But plenty more, well, fine weather to come on Friday, really. Blue skies across
01:54the board virtually. Just one difference there for Shetland, for Orkney, thicker cloud, a
02:00few drizzly showers at times. But elsewhere, it's largely dry. It just about make out the
02:07hint of one or two showers breaking out during the afternoon. Again, mainly over, say, the
02:12Pennines into the southern uplands. But for the vast majority, it is staying dry once
02:16again and those temperatures are responding. Technically, they're down a degree or so
02:21compared to the last couple of days. But with light winds, with that sunshine, I doubt it
02:27will be that noticeable. And really, those temperatures are in places eight, perhaps
02:32even ten Celsius above average, so very warm for the time of year. And the fine weather
02:39continuing into the weekend and perhaps into the start of next week.
