00:00Hello, and welcome to the latest weather from the Met Office. Much colder weather is on
00:06the way and in places there will be snow by the middle of the week. But rain is going
00:12to make an appearance during Monday night. One area of rain pushing up from the Channel
00:16to affect southern counties of England. Some heavy bursts with this later on. Another area
00:21of rain pushing south across the Northern Isles. That's a cold front and that's going
00:26to be an important feature during the next few days as it sweeps south across the country.
00:31Shetland already in the Arctic air, but for the rest of the country, well the air is coming
00:36in from the east. And as a result it's bringing some low cloud mist and fog with it. Temperatures
00:41by dawn 5 to 9 Celsius, but a grey start, a gloomy start for many, particularly central
00:47eastern England and for eastern parts of Scotland. Here are the two areas of rain though, either
00:53side of the country, so the far north and the far south. This area in the south of
00:58England tends to peter out by the afternoon and drift into the Channel. And this area
01:03across Scotland, mixing with cold air, could bring some seat and snow over the higher ground.
01:07But that's again a fairly weak feature. To the north of it though, much colder air arrives,
01:135 to 7 degrees in the far north of Scotland, whilst temperatures stay above average further
01:18south. Although not as high as they have been, with a lot more cloud cover than we've been
01:23used to recently. And a few showers breaking out for southwest Scotland, parts of central
01:27England into Wales. Now, by Tuesday night, here's the cold front. It becomes an increasingly
01:34important feature as it potentially reactivates and mixes with the cold air to bring some
01:41snowfall to places by Wednesday and Thursday. But for the start of Tuesday night, we're
01:49going to see a lot of cloud cover, some low cloud, mist and fog again in places. And here's
01:54the cold front. You can see some snow on it over the Pennines, rain mainly at lower levels.
01:59It's slowly sinking south, but it's dividing the country in two. A frosty start for Scotland,
02:04for parts of the far north of England behind the front, but milder further south, albeit
02:09with a lot of cloud cover and a few bits of showery rain in places. So, a grey start for
02:14England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and here are the outbreaks of rain associated with
02:18the cold front. Some sleet and snow as it crosses, say, the Peak District, Snowdonia
02:23as well. Showers breaking out to the south, across south Wales, southwest England, some
02:28pokey downpours here. A lot of cloud around the cold front. Brighter skies further north,
02:33but much colder air. A strong wind blowing wintry showers into the far north of Scotland,
02:37a mixture of sleet, snow and hail around coasts and some snow making their way inland as well.
02:43But some brightness there for central Scotland. However, it will feel much colder compared
02:47to recent days, 5 to 7 degrees in the north, 11 or 12 further south, and it will be increasingly
02:55cold in the south as well as that front comes southwards. More on that in the Met Office
03:02week ahead forecast, which can be found on YouTube. But for now, that's all for me. Bye-bye.
