00:00Hello there. Welcome to your latest broadcast from the Met Office. Well, it's quite an eventful
00:05weekend, some heavy showers, thunderstorms particularly across the south of the UK. Looking
00:10back at the satellite and radar, we can see those really bright echoes, plenty of lightning,
00:14up to 40,000 lightning strikes throughout the weekend. Quite unusual for mid to late
00:19October, but this is starting to clear away now and we're starting to see brighter skies
00:24move in.
00:25So, looking at the bigger picture, low pressure still remains in charge, further weather systems
00:30trying to move in as we go through the next few days. Wettest and windiest weather always
00:35towards the west. The further east you are, you're likely to see some drier and brighter
00:39interludes.
00:40So, for the rest of Monday, a day of sunshine and showers across the UK. Showers shouldn't
00:46be as frequent and as intense compared to the weekend. We could still see a few sharp
00:51showers, the odd rumble of thunder is still possible, but in between we'll see plenty
00:55of sunny spells.
00:57In the sunshine, winds coming up from the south, it'll feel quite pleasant for the
01:00time of year. Highs of 18, possibly 19 Celsius in the south, towards 15 or 16 across the
01:06north of the UK. Still breezy around the coast across England and Wales. This should ease
01:11as we head through the evening and overnight. And we'll see further showers as we head into
01:15the early hours of Tuesday morning, but there will be some clear spells in between. Perhaps
01:20winds falling light across central areas will allow for mist and fog to form in one
01:24or two spots. But it won't be a cold night, though it will be a little bit fresher than
01:28it has been of late. Temperatures in the countryside just about dipping into single figures, so
01:33still above average for the time of year.
01:36Bright start to Tuesday morning, we'll see showers from the word go across western and
01:40southern parts. These slowly push their way eastwards through the day, but many areas
01:44seeing some bright or sunny spells until later on in the afternoon, a spell of wetter and
01:49windier weather will move into parts of Cornwall, later Devon, and then into southwest Wales
01:55as well. Winds picking up here too, so just taking the edge off the temperatures here,
02:00but in the sunshine elsewhere, another warm feeling day. Highs approaching 18, 19 Celsius.
02:07As we head through the evening on Tuesday, this band of rain continues to push its way
02:10northwards affecting parts of Wales, then later on Northern Ireland and also western
02:15coasts of northern England. Elsewhere, generally dry to end the day, just one or two showers,
02:20but plenty of clear spells around and the winds beginning to increase further across
02:25western areas. Those winds pick up further over the next few days and further rain is
02:30expected, but some sunshine and the temperatures stay higher. So if you'd like more information
02:34on this, you can visit us on our social media channels. I'll see you again soon.
