00:00Hello there, welcome to your weather update from the Met Office. Well, looking ahead to
00:04Sunday, certainly going to be the better day of the weekend for dry and bright weather,
00:09but certainly going to be feeling a good deal colder. So, here's the area of low pressure,
00:13what brought a lot of wind and rain on Saturday. But as that moves away, we start to drag in
00:18quite a bit of colder air from the Arctic as we go through Sunday and then into next
00:22week. With low pressure always close by though, some of that rain will turn to sleet and snow
00:27as it bumps into that colder air, especially across the northern half of the UK. But back
00:33to Saturday evening, we've still got some strong winds around, especially across parts
00:38of Scotland and Northern Ireland, some very windy weather to end Saturday. That'll be
00:42combined with some heavy rain and also some hill snow which will sink its way southwards
00:46as we go into Sunday morning. Further south across the rest of England and Wales, actually
00:52it's really going to be a night of clear swells and scattered showers. But then later on in
00:57the night, some very cold air starting to dig into parts of Scotland. So here, frequent
01:01snow showers to end the night with the risk of some icy stretches too. So, Sunday overall
01:07is going to be a colder day than Saturday, especially in the north. This area of rain
01:11and hill snow continuing to sink its way southwards, weakening as it does so. So, behind it, actually
01:17lots of sunshine to be had for northern England and southern Scotland. But further north across
01:22the northern half of Scotland, frequent snow showers being brought in on a fairly brisk
01:26wind. So, feeling very cold here, probably actually feeling sub-zero despite what the
01:30temperatures say. Further south, also a colder day compared to Saturday, but temperatures
01:35actually around where they should be for the time of year.
01:39Then going into Sunday evening, we then start to see further areas of rain and showers moving
01:44in from the west. As that bumps into the colder air, we could see some sleet and snow, especially
01:48across the high ground of Wales into the Midlands, maybe even Northern Ireland. Then later on
01:53in the night, just keeping a very close eye on this area of rain down towards the southeastern
01:57corner. This just moves a little bit further northwards. We could even see some sleet and
02:01snow across the high ground here, for example, the Downs most prone. Temperature-wise, a
02:08patchy frost in the south, so certainly a colder night than what we've been used to.
02:11And further north, a white red frost actually could be down to minus 8 to minus 10 in a
02:16few glens of Scotland. So, a cold start for all of us as we go into Monday, but lots of
02:21sunshine around actually for a good chunk of Northern Ireland, Scotland and Northern
02:25England. And actually, as the day goes on, the clouds begin to melt away across the rest
02:30of England and Wales. So, for a lot of us, an afternoon of winter sunshine. But further
02:36north across Scotland here, showers continuing. So, again, the risk of some snow and ice as
02:41we go through Monday. But certainly, a day to wrap up warmly. Temperatures below par
02:46for all of us, especially in the north. At best, maybe 6 or 7 in the very far southwest
02:51and corner of the UK.
02:54And really, as we go into the middle part of the week, very little changes. The cold
02:58air remains in charge for the UK, bringing the risk of some further sleet and snow, especially
03:04across the northern half of the UK. We do have warnings already in force up until Wednesday
03:09across parts of Scotland. So, you can always keep up to date with the latest warnings on
03:13our website. Or you can always follow us on our social media channels or check out the
03:17latest video forecast on YouTube. But that's all from me for now.
03:21Thanks for watching.
