00:00Hi there. Blustery showers across northern parts of the UK will ease through the rest
00:04of the day and then for many it's a dry afternoon. The best of the sunshine will be in the east.
00:09Cloudier skies further west but even here some bright spells at times. One exception,
00:14Western Scotland, there will be some light outbreaks of rain, mostly on and off, and
00:19this associated with thickening cloud as we head into the afternoon, weather front starting
00:23to approach once again. But for the vast majority it is a fine afternoon and temperatures not
00:29far from average but a little lower in places compared with Sunday. Certainly for eastern
00:34Scotland a considerable drop in temperatures, 7-8 in the north, 9-10 further south. Then
00:41a quiet start to the evening across eastern and southern parts of the UK, some clear spells
00:46and light winds leading to a fall in temperatures, perhaps a touch of frost towards the south-east.
00:51Elsewhere a lot of cloud and outbreaks of rain moving through Scotland, Northern Ireland
00:55and then those outbreaks of rain pushing into Northern England. Heavy for a time but only
00:58for an hour or two before the weather front associated with this rain pushes south into
01:03central areas. Now to the south of that, staying dry through the night with some clear spells
01:08towards the south-east, 4-5 Celsius by dawn. To the north it turns increasingly windy as
01:13the front clears and showers push back in across Scotland and parts of Northern Ireland.
01:19Now it's a blustery day to the north of that front, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Northern
01:23England get off to a windy start. England and Wales meanwhile, a cloudy start with outbreaks
01:28of rain clearing south, the rain tending to peter out so not much left as the front pushes
01:34into the channel. And then brighter skies for many, sunny spells for England and Wales,
01:38I think for Northern England some showers but for Scotland and Northern Ireland it's
01:41certainly a windy day with the gales around exposed north-western shores and some heavy
01:46showers moving through in that westerly breeze with the showers falling as snow over the
01:51hills of Scotland. 5 or 6 in Scotland so certainly a colder day to come than 11 or 12 further
01:58south, a touch milder compared with Monday. Tuesday evening starts off clear across southern
02:05parts of the UK but further showers arrive into the north and the wind picks up further
02:09with gales fairly widely across northern Scotland and wind gusts as an area of low pressure
02:15approaches 60, perhaps 70 mph and in some of the most exposed spots of Orkney, Lewes
02:22and north mainland Scotland the risk of 80 mph wind gusts. So a yellow warning in force
02:27that could cause disruption for northern Scotland on Tuesday nights but the strongest
02:32the winds do go through during the hours of darkness. Wednesday then is a windy day with
02:37further showers in the north.
