00:00Hello. A mixed 24 hours to come across northern parts of the UK, mostly dry further south
00:06but not entirely dry. There is some rain on the way for all of us, that rain arriving
00:11into the north-west as we go through Monday evening. Spells of wet weather then affecting
00:16much of Scotland overnight, Northern Ireland and then this area of rain also heading into
00:22Northern England and North Wales during the early hours. Some moderate to heavy bursts
00:25but overnight the band of rain narrows and it becomes more fragmented particularly towards
00:31the east. This is a cold front and it separates clear skies in the south and perhaps a touch
00:38of frost first thing on Tuesday with much more blustery weather further north, Scotland,
00:44Northern Ireland, Northern England seeing strengthening winds and showers return by
00:49the end of the night. So as we start off Tuesday the fragmenting weather front pushes south,
00:55an area of cloud, some light outbreaks of rain but not a great deal and all of that
01:00clears by lunchtime with sunnier skies returning for England and Wales. Showers though will
01:04affect Northern England and more especially Northern Ireland and Scotland. Those showers
01:08accompanied by a strengthening wind and the wind making things feel cold, 6 or 7 in the
01:14north but it's a bit milder further south, 11 or 12 Celsius. With that cold wind it's
01:21cold enough for some snow to be falling about 400 metres over the hills of Scotland and
01:26the wind will pick up even further later Tuesday and into the start of Wednesday with the risk
01:32for northern parts of Scotland but especially around exposed coasts of Orkney, the north
01:36of the mainland, Lewis, 60, 70 mile per hour wind gusts, perhaps a touch more in some of
01:41the most exposed spots. So disruption continuing during Tuesday night and into the start of
01:48Wednesday from those strong winds. The winds will again be accompanied by heavy showers,
01:53perhaps some more longer spells of rain into central and southern Scotland for a time as
01:57well. Further south it's breezy but it's a mostly dry and clear night on Tuesday night
02:03with temperatures falling to 6 or 7 Celsius. 3 or 4 for northern parts of the UK and again
02:09feeling cold first thing Wednesday with that strong wind. The risk of gales starts to ease
02:14later in the morning as the low pulls away but further showers arrive into the north
02:18of Scotland, some longer spells of rain affecting northern Ireland, the far south-west of Scotland
02:23and northern England for a time and a lot of cloud I think further south although the
02:26best of any drier and brighter weather will be once again in the south. Temperatures up
02:32to 9 or 10 Celsius in the south, 7 to 9 Celsius further north, sunny spells though away from
02:39the showers and the showers will become fewer and further between across Scotland by the
02:43end of the afternoon. This feature here is another front and that's going to push some
02:49steady rain into Scotland and northern England later Wednesday and into the start of Thursday
02:54but Thursday and Friday do become a bit milder across the UK although the weather stays very
02:59changeable in the north, mostly dry in the south.
