00:00Welcome to your latest update from the Met Office.
00:03Another day of hazy, warm sunshine for most on Thursday,
00:07but for some it will be quite a lot cloudier than Wednesday
00:10and it will be as warm and there will still
00:12be a few showers around, just like there
00:14have been through Wednesday.
00:15This zone of cloudier weather with some heavy showers mixed
00:19in, just drifting northwards over the Midlands, Wales,
00:22into parts of northern England and Northern Ireland,
00:25eventually into southwest Scotland around dawn.
00:28Away from that, though, many places will stay dry and fine.
00:31Again, that ha just returning to parts of northeastern Scotland.
00:36Temperatures were holding up again,
00:38especially across the south and the west.
00:39Another pretty warm night and another fairly warm day
00:43on Thursday, although it will start off fairly cloudy.
00:46Certainly a lot more cloud over northern England,
00:48Northern Ireland, and southern Scotland
00:50compared to Wednesday.
00:51And a few showers in this zone as well.
00:53Very hit and miss, but we could still
00:55see one or two heavy ones.
00:57Most, though, won't see those showers staying dry and fine
01:01and probably warming up as well as skies start to brighten.
01:04We will again have those issues with mist and low cloud
01:08ha affecting the Aberdeenshire coast and probably
01:11the Northern Isles too.
01:12And that will have an impact on the temperatures.
01:14Generally, it won't be as warm as Wednesday
01:18across the central slice of the UK.
01:20Temperatures a few degrees lower.
01:21But for parts of eastern England,
01:23especially Lincolnshire down to East Anglia,
01:25it will be a bit warmer through Thursday,
01:27with the winds no longer coming in from the east
01:29and probably top temperature across East Anglia 28 Celsius.
01:33More typically elsewhere, though, high teens or low 20s.
01:35So still generally above average for the time of year.
01:39Still one or two scattered showers
01:40around on Thursday evening, but they'll be pretty isolated.
01:43Most places dry.
01:44But look at this, just the threat
01:46of some further heavy thundery showers coming up
01:49from France towards East Anglia and the southeast
01:52during the early hours.
01:54At the same time, not as heavy, but some showers
01:57may start to drift into the far northwest as well.
02:00Now, we need to keep an eye on this plume of warmer air.
02:03It'll keep the temperatures up across East Anglia
02:05and the southeast, whereas certainly further west,
02:07it will be a slightly cooler night.
02:10But that warmer, more humid air does bring the threat.
02:13And it's all it is at this stage,
02:14the threat of some heavy thundery showers
02:16across parts of southeast England and East Anglia.
02:20As I say, some uncertainty about just how far east
02:23those heavy showers get.
02:24And they'll still always be very much hit and miss.
02:27But we just need to keep an eye on that through Friday.
02:29Elsewhere on Friday, bar the odd shower
02:31across western Scotland, most places
02:33having a fine summer's day, really,
02:35with temperatures still above average,
02:38just not as warm as Wednesday, peaking mostly
02:40in the high teens or the low 20s.
02:43And generally, a brighter day on the east coast of Scotland
02:46as well.
02:46That mist and low cloud looks like finally shifting
02:49as our weather patterns just subtly
02:51change through Friday into the weekend,
02:53getting more of an Atlantic influence.
02:55We do have this high pressure building in.
02:57So that will bring a lot of fine weather,
02:59it looks like, through the weekend.
03:01Still some sunshine, just not quite as warm as it has been.
