00:00Hi there, big beefy clouds and lively showers for many during the rest of the day. Some
00:06more persistent cloud and rain I think affecting central Scotland. That's where our weather
00:11front has effectively come to a rest, so through the Grampians and Highlands, parts of Aberdeenshire
00:17disappointingly cool, damp and cloudy. The far north avoids the rain and stays dry and
00:22bright, but for the rest of the UK a lot of showers around and some heavy downpours. Now
00:28for parts of southern Scotland and north-east England, these will be slow moving and where
00:33they converge together could give a lot of rainfall, 20-30mm in a few hours, in some
00:38spots 60mm in more than 6 hours, and so a yellow thunderstorm warning in force. Could
00:45also see some thunder and lightning further south with some of the livelier showers, but
00:49these will be moving through more quickly across much of the rest of England and Wales
00:53because of a keen breeze. And away from the showers some bright or even some sunny spells
00:58and feeling pleasant in that sunshine 19-22 or 23C the high in the south, but a cool day
01:06to come there for eastern and south-eastern parts of Scotland. Now through the evening
01:11some cloud and rain will drift into Northern Ireland, south-west Scotland and north-west
01:15England, but for most the showers die away and clear spells develop, especially in the
01:21south of the UK and with still a bit of a breeze it's going to be a relatively mild
01:27start to Thursday with that sunshine in place. Cloudier skies, a dull start for much of Scotland
01:34into northern England as well, especially around the North Sea coast. Some dribs and
01:38drabs of rain and some showers get going once again later in the morning and early afternoon.
01:44But further west after that bright start cloud arrives and for Northern Ireland, for Wales,
01:49for the south-west it's a damp end to the day and it will feel cool with a brisk breeze
01:54developing as well at this stage. But you can see in the east plenty of sunny spells
01:59and highs here of 19-21C. Now the front in the west is relatively slow moving so it stays
02:06damp especially around western hills into the evening. Brighter skies eventually for
02:11Northern Ireland, but as the front clears east it's going to turn increasingly windy
02:17and that breeze is the main theme I think for Thursday night into Friday and indeed
02:22Saturday. This relatively deep area of low pressure for the time of year will bring quite
02:29a strong wind for many, but especially towards the far north-west, exposed parts of north-west
02:34Scotland risk of gales.
