00:00Hello, and welcome to the latest forecast from the Met Office. A three-way split in
00:04the U.K.'s weather through the rest of Tuesday. A weather front neatly divides the country
00:09into cold air to the north, mild air to the south and in between a zone of cloud and outbreaks
00:15of rain associated with that front. The rain not particularly heavy for much of Tuesday.
00:20It's fairly persistent across north-west England and north Wales, drier with some brightness
00:26to the east of higher ground. And certainly brighter for Scotland and Northern Ireland,
00:31some sunshine but further blustery showers for northern and western Scotland in particular
00:36with a keen wind and those showers falling as snow over the higher ground. To the south,
00:41a real contrast in temperatures, 13 or 14 Celsius, particularly if we see some sunshine
00:46there for parts of the Midlands and southern England. And into the evening that contrast
00:51continues and the rain packs up for a time for north-west England and north Wales. And
00:56it will be persistent as it pushes south into west Wales as well. To the north, we
01:02keep the blustery showers going and temperatures dipping to the low single figures. To the
01:07south, it stays mild even if we get some clear spells, 8 or 9 Celsius. So, we start off Wednesday
01:13with the zone of cloud and rain eventually sinking south. It peters out for some time
01:18as it arrives into the Midlands, southern counties of England as well and comes to
01:23a rest across southern parts with the zone of cloud and occasional spots of rain. Brighter
01:30skies follow for Wales, for northern England but further blustery showers for Scotland
01:34and Northern Ireland. A keen wind and slightly colder air so those showers falling as a mixture
01:40of rain sleet, hail at lower levels and even some snow over the hills and lower levels
01:47for northern Scotland. The snow really building up actually over the West Highlands above
01:51200 metres, about 15 centimetres or so by Thursday. And into Wednesday evening, we're
01:58going to see that weather front start to pep up for a time. Some more persistent rain comes
02:03through from the south-west. Further blustery showers push into Scotland, Northern Ireland,
02:08north-west England and north Wales. Again, snow over the higher ground and at lower levels
02:13in the far north-west. And then we start off Thursday with some very windy weather in the
02:17north of Scotland. Exposed coasts in gales or even severe gales for a time as a fairly
02:24deep area of low pressure moves through. Showers pushing in behind that low and further showers
02:30for Northern Ireland, north-west England and parts of Wales. But cloud and any rain clears
02:35from the south-east to lead to brighter skies for many. However, temperatures will be dropping
02:40away in the south as that front clears and it's going to be another cold day, particularly
02:45in that wind further north. Friday, a ridge of high pressure builds in that will bring
02:49plenty of sunny spells but all of us are in the cold air by then. Bye bye.
