00:00Hi there. A couple of dry and warm, or in some places hot, days to come before the weather
00:07turns a bit more average into the weekend. But I don't think the outlook is quite as
00:12unsettled as it has been, and certainly for much of Wednesday, sunny spells for many,
00:18especially towards the east and across central areas. There'll be some cumulus and stratocumulus
00:23building in the skies above us, and always the potential for the odd spot of rain towards
00:29western parts, western Scotland for example. A brisk wind for Shetland, 12C here, but elsewhere
00:35across the UK we're looking at high teens, low 20s, perhaps 24C, the afternoon high.
00:42Some coastal mist around southern areas, and that will tend to spread inland somewhat as
00:47the sun goes down, there's some low cloud and some patchy fog developing across southern
00:52and western fringes of the UK overnight. But away from those areas, clear spells will dominate
00:58and with more humid air in place it's going to be a warmer night compared with recent
01:03nights with temperatures in many places staying in the mid-teens. Then we start the day on
01:08Thursday with that coastal mist and some patchy low cloud and fog in places. One or two showers
01:14also possible from medium level cloud towards the far south-west. But for many it's a bright
01:19start, the sun shining strong, and we'll see barely a cloud in the sky across some central
01:26and southeastern parts. Northern Scotland also faring well for sunny spells, less windy
01:30and so a warmer feel for Shetland. Across much of the UK temperatures are higher compared
01:36with Wednesday. There'll be an increase in cloud towards western areas and an increase
01:40in the breeze as well as one or two showers coming along. But where we've got the strong
01:43sunshine, temperatures reaching 27C to possibly 29C. 26C for Scotland, 22C, 23C for Northern
01:52Ireland. Then a change on the way once again into Thursday evening. This band of showery
01:58rain pushes into western parts, some heavy downpours for Northern Ireland. That spreads
02:03eastwards on Thursday night and into Friday, some especially heavy and persistent rain
02:07for the north of Scotland as it pulls through. That then gets replaced by a mixture of sunny
02:12spells and showers as low pressure becomes anchored to the north-west for the weekend.
02:17As I said, this weekend and into next week it doesn't look as unsettled as it has been
02:23through the last few weeks and it will be feeling a bit warmer than it has as well.
