00:00Hello again, the heat is building across the UK, expected to peak on Friday but next couple
00:06of days also will be very warm in places particularly across much of England and Wales where Wednesday
00:12looks largely sunny. There will be some high cloud affecting parts of North Wales into
00:17Northern England so the sunshine a bit more hazy here but the thicker cloud will affect
00:21Scotland and Northern Ireland with some showery rain in places especially west of Belfast,
00:27Western Isles, Northern Isles as well. Cool here, 13 or 14 Celsius with a breeze from
00:33the south west but warmer elsewhere, 20s or even mid to high 20s in places. Top temperature
00:3928 Celsius somewhere around London which would make it the warmest day of the year so far.
00:45That will be a short lived record because those temperatures are going to rise even
00:49further on Thursday and Friday and a clear night expected for England and Wales overnight
00:53but some outbreaks of rain will spill into southern Scotland, perhaps the far north
00:57of England as well as increasing the effect at western Scotland and the far north. With
01:04cloudier skies here, temperatures will hold up but actually fairly widely it's a warmer
01:09night across the board with temperatures in the double figures or even teens by dawn on
01:15Thursday. A bright start then once again for England and Wales. Also southern and eastern
01:21Scotland seeing some sunny spells first thing, cloudier for western Scotland and Northern
01:25Ireland once again with some outbreaks of rain, mainly light and on and off for western
01:29Scotland and Northern Ireland. But elsewhere it's dry, it's fine and that strong sunshine
01:36will get to work with heat building and temperatures reaching 29. Perhaps, perhaps somewhere could
01:42squeeze a 30, most likely somewhere to the north of London into Cambridgeshire, east
01:47Midlands for example but fairly widely across England and Wales, 23 to 27 Celsius. And for
01:54Scotland and Northern Ireland, despite the cloudier skies, still 20 to 22 Celsius, the
01:59warmest spot here, eastern Scotland but again much cooler for the far north and north west.
02:06Then into Thursday evening you can see some more persistent rain heading into Northern
02:10Ireland, parts of western Scotland as well, that rain heavy at times. It's tied in to
02:16a cold front which is going to increasingly impact the UK later this week and into the
02:22weekend. Now that cold front is going to sweep into Scotland and Northern Ireland to bring
02:27some cloud and rain on Friday and much cooler conditions. But for much of England and Wales
02:32the continental plume will bring 34 degrees Celsius heat on Friday and still another hot
02:39day expected in the far south and south east on Saturday. But by this stage the front is
02:44making its way south, it's bringing much cooler conditions and it also brings a threat
02:49of heavy rain and thunderstorms through the weekend for central and increasingly southern
02:54parts of the UK. So lots to talk about over the next few days and we'll keep you updated
02:59right here at the Met Office.
