00:00Hi there, rain for some of us today as a cold front crosses the country but that
00:04front is weakening, it's running into the high pressure that has dominated our
00:08weather for so long, that high pressure slipping away into the continent
00:12allowing the front to sneak in but as I mentioned it is weakening. Ahead of that
00:16still some bright skies and behind it actually skies brightening, it's been a
00:20wet start to the day for Western Scotland and Northern Ireland. Blustery
00:23showers move in for the afternoon but also some sunny spells for the rest of
00:27Scotland into Northern and eventually Western England, parts of Wales. Ahead of
00:31the front as well we've got some sunshine, we've still got the very mild
00:35air 14 or even 15 Celsius. You can see how the front weakens as it crosses
00:41central parts of the country though, so a few dribbles of rain but nothing
00:45particularly substantial and behind that we've got the clearing skies. The showers
00:51turn to more extensive cloud and rain as the evening progresses across Northern
00:55Ireland then into Western Scotland, Western parts of England and Wales. As the
01:00first front moves away we've got this next front moving in, a warm front this
01:03time bringing extensive low cloud, hill fog, coastal fog, rain and drizzle across
01:09England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Southern Scotland. Northern Scotland the
01:12exception here, it's a bright start to Thursday, such a frost in places, so a
01:16chilly start for some. Still some showers moving into the Northern Isles
01:20through Thursday but I think Northern Scotland the place to be for the
01:24brightest skies. Elsewhere a dull, dreary, damp morning, drizzle and low cloud
01:30covering the hills across southern and western parts of the country and we keep
01:34some of that into the afternoon but actually the skies do brighten, the cloud
01:37tends to lift especially for central areas where we get some breaks
01:41developing 13 or 14 Celsius is possible. Temperature's not quite as high there
01:46across Northern Scotland but actually that's where the brightest skies will be
01:49at least until the end of the afternoon and then thicker cloud and outbreaks of
01:53rain move into Western Scotland and Northern Ireland. Another weather front
01:57on its way, this one pushing into northwestern parts of the country along
02:01with a strengthening wind and that wind the key thing on Thursday night and into
02:07Friday, a deepening area of low pressure, deepening as it approaches Northern
02:11Scotland and really it's through the night on Friday into Northern and
02:15Western Scotland and then by the daytime on Friday into Northern England and the
02:20rest of Scotland where we're going to see the strongest winds, widely gale
02:23force winds and in places 60 to 70 mile per hour wind gusts could cause issues
02:29on Friday particularly for trans-Pennine routes and for the likes of
02:34the A1M for example with crosswinds for some of those important routes. So we'll
02:40keep you updated on all of that and you can follow those updates on social media.
02:43Bye bye.
