00:00Previously on The Apprentice, for their sixth task the teams were told to put on a fashion show for New York's premier clothing stores.
00:08I want you to produce a new clothing line that will become tomorrow's hottest fashion.
00:14Maria was a perfect fit to lead Apex.
00:17I've made tailored suits and have a mother that taught home economics for 14 years.
00:21And the women finished their designs quickly.
00:23Is this a dress or a skirt?
00:25If we feel that we're too dress heavy, we can make it a bustier and a skirt.
00:28Mosaic's project manager John delegated critical decisions to his team.
00:33Raj, Chris and I are leaving. You guys, it's your job to get the pricing. We'll see you there.
00:37I felt that John should have more control over the things that were most important like pricing.
00:41Even though Mosaic managed to pull it together at the fashion show.
00:45That's great. That's great.
00:48In the end, Apex was a cut above Mosaic.
00:52Apex more than tripled what the men did.
00:56In the boardroom, John pleaded his case.
00:59I'm just so disappointed. I wanted this win for my team so badly.
01:02And I just apologize I made these mistakes.
01:04But it wasn't enough to excuse his actions.
01:07John, you had absolutely no involvement in the pricing yourself.
01:11And as the project manager, that's just inexcusable.
01:15John, you're fired.
01:19Twelve candidates are left.
01:21Who will be fired this week?
01:23Who will be fired this week?
01:53Bad bank, bad bank
01:58Dollar bill, y'all
01:59Come on, bad deal
02:02Oh, deal
02:04Make great
02:06Almighty dollar
02:08I don't know that money
02:12Give me a nickel, brother
02:15Can you spell that?
02:17Money can drive some people
02:20I don't know
02:24No good, no good
02:26Money, money, money, money
02:45Hello!
02:47Hi guys!
02:49Oh, Kevin and Andy
02:51What happened?
02:52I said what I felt about Andy.
02:54He just comes back to me with too many questions.
02:56Did he get napped here?
02:57Why did he get pulled in there?
02:59John pulled him in because he thinks he's a weak player.
03:02He's not a huge leader, but he makes up for it in understanding what we need to do.
03:06A, and B, creativity.
03:13But in my opinion, Andy has more contribution to our team in winning than John has.
03:18What did I tell you?
03:20When Andy and Kevin walked back in,
03:23I felt that people realized that you can't just pick on the young kid.
03:29Now Andy has a good track record in the boardroom,
03:31so I think people will think twice before they bring him into the boardroom with them.
03:35All right, you guys, we have food.
03:37Who said that?
03:38Oh, those look great.
03:40It's amazing, I appreciate it.
03:42What do you want to drink?
03:45I don't know.
03:47Let me get that, I've never gotten that.
03:52Hello?
03:53Hi, this is Robin.
03:55Mr. Trump wants you all to come back to the boardroom right away.
03:58Okay, thanks.
04:00Who was that?
04:01It was Robin.
04:02We have to go.
04:03All of us.
04:06Phone rings, Wes picks it up,
04:07and he says that everybody immediately must go to the boardroom,
04:10which is kind of a shock because I've been spending a lot of time in the boardroom.
04:13I just got back, I wanted to eat my taco,
04:15and all of a sudden I'm back in the boardroom.
04:19See you right away.
04:34You all look so different.
04:35You weren't prepared.
04:37I can't believe that you're not prepared.
04:39All right, I want each team to choose a project manager.
04:43Right now.
04:49Who's the project manager?
04:51Wes.
04:53Who's your project manager?
04:56Jennifer?
04:57Yes.
04:58All right, I've called you all back to the boardroom
05:00because after I fired John,
05:02I realized that the teams are now even,
05:04with six men on Mosaic and six women on Apex.
05:07So after talking to George and Carolyn,
05:09I've decided it's time for a corporate restructure.
05:17Now we'll see how you work together with men and women on the same side.
05:22Jennifer and Wes,
05:23I want you each to choose three people who you don't want on your team.
05:30That person will go to the other team,
05:33and we're going to mix the teams.
05:35So now we're going to have a real competition.
05:39So Jennifer, who do you not want on your team?
05:42Sandy.
05:44Okay, so go over.
05:49Wes, who do you not want on your team?
05:51I'll let Raj go with the ladies.
05:53All right, well, I think Raj is very happy.
05:59Jennifer?
06:00Maria.
06:06Chris.
06:11Stacy.
06:16Wes?
06:21Kevin.
06:29All right, Jennifer, your team will be Apex.
06:32Wes, your team is Mosaic.
06:36Some of you may be happy with your new team,
06:38while some of you may be annoyed that you were traded away.
06:41But that's life, and that's business.
06:43So deal with it.
06:44Now is the time to really prove yourselves.
06:47I'll see you tomorrow.
06:56I'm looking forward to kicking Apex's ass.
06:58That's really what I'm looking forward to.
07:00You want me to go over to the other side?
07:01Well, I'm going to make you regret that decision.
07:03I really want to make Jen regret her decision.
07:12This is it.
07:13This is the new Mosaic.
07:15I will be able to delegate and lead.
07:17You two, I need to find out a little bit more about what you're good at.
07:20But I know you're good at arguing and asking questions.
07:23Question.
07:24Part of the reason we were ineffective as a team.
07:26Only one question every 10 minutes.
07:27No, I'm just kidding.
07:28One of the reasons we were ineffective.
07:29My questions help.
07:31The men think that I am extremely vocal and opinionated
07:35and ask a lot of questions.
07:37And they are absolutely 100% correct.
07:39Are you guys consensus operators?
07:41Are there any general screw-ups that you've seen as a common thread
07:44throughout your team that we should be aware of?
07:46Stacey can't shut up.
07:48This is incredible.
07:49I thought I talked a lot.
07:50I've never known anybody like her.
07:51She won't f***ing shut up.
07:53Can you just tell me what's wrong with the printer when we're done with this?
07:55Or take my presentation styles in terms of talking to Donald Trump?
07:58Asking too many questions could create problems in wasting time
08:01and second-guessing yourself.
08:03That's what I have to be aware of in dealing with Stacey.
08:06Do I say to the leader,
08:07these are the rules, this is what we have to work with,
08:09you decide how you want to play it,
08:10or do I make the decisions on my own as a lead goal?
08:12So what I'm interested in is hearing from you guys strengths and weaknesses.
08:17And I want to hear it from the other two when we're talking about one of you.
08:19So let's start off with Raj.
08:21What are his strengths and tell me his weaknesses.
08:23I think he brings some ideas to the table and a lot of charisma to the team.
08:27I think weaknesses, Raj,
08:28sometimes he has a tendency to kind of be long-winded when we don't need him to be
08:32or suggest things at inopportune times.
08:34So sometimes Raj just gets too creative almost.
08:37I'll be here to stifle you, so no worries about that.
08:39Oh, I enjoy that so much.
08:41I'll be here to ebb your flow.
08:43I'm going to be very curious to see how Jennifer performs as a leader.
08:48I think she's analytical, I think she's calculating,
08:50and she's beautiful, which makes her especially dangerous.
08:54You know, when you're beautiful, calculating, and you have some personality, which she does,
09:00it's a very deadly combination to woman.
09:20Hello.
09:21Good morning, it's Ron in Mr. Trump's office.
09:23Mr. Trump will meet you in Central Park at 8 a.m.
09:46Good morning.
09:47Good morning.
09:48The pet business is over a $30 billion a year industry.
09:53And as you can see here in Central Park, New Yorkers truly love their dogs.
09:58I'm sending you into the streets of New York to create a dog service business.
10:03You're going to work with dogs.
10:05Anything you want to do.
10:07At the end of the day, the team with the most profit wins.
10:11Replacing George this week is my chief financial officer, Allen Weisselberg.
10:17And you think George is tough?
10:19Wait till you see Allen.
10:22Maria, last week you led your team to victory.
10:25You were the project manager.
10:27So if your team comes back to the boardroom, you will be exempt.
10:31The losing team will see me in the boardroom, where someone will be fired.
10:38So long.
10:39I'm not really a huge dog person.
10:41I didn't grow up with a dog.
10:42This is not my ideal task.
10:44If it comes down to it, I will wash the dogs.
10:46I'll do whatever it takes to win.
10:47I'm just not a huge dog fan.
10:55Okay, look at the building.
10:56Look at the facade.
10:57Get it painted.
10:58Get it finished.
10:59I want to get rid of those air conditioning louvers.
11:01Especially the ones in the terracotta.
11:03If you think an idea is really good, then just don't stop.
11:07Go after it.
11:08Keep selling it.
11:09Because some of the greatest ideas were ideas that nobody wanted.
11:13So it's going to be painted like the top?
11:15Just straight down.
11:16Perfect.
11:17I love it.
11:18Do it.
11:28Okay, here's what we're thinking sounds compelling.
11:30Tell me if you have any issues with it.
11:31Dog washing service.
11:32Yeah.
11:33Apex is now Raj, myself, Kevin, Jennifer, Ivana, and Elizabeth.
11:37At the end of the day, this is how I look at it.
11:39They're more educated.
11:40I've been an entrepreneur since I'm 11 years old.
11:42I have the largest salary.
11:44We're going to do one event so that we can all be there.
11:47We're going to go to a place that is bringing in a lot of foot traffic.
11:50We have $1,000 seed money, and we have to go start some type of dog company.
11:54Dog grooming, dog bathing, dog walking, anything that has to do with canines.
11:58Guys, scout out the area for a pet supplier, store.
12:01Okay.
12:02Let's go.
12:03Okay, guys, keep your cell phone on.
12:04I will, I will.
12:08Puppy shampoo.
12:09Perfect coat.
12:10Let's get some puppy shampoo.
12:11Raj and I went to Petco.
12:12We picked up tons of shampoo, some biscuits, some goodies for the dogs.
12:16We got some brushes.
12:17We've spent over $100 in the store, and we headed down to the location,
12:21and we started washing dogs.
12:23It's okay, darling.
12:24You're a good boy.
12:25That's a good boy.
12:27Yeah.
12:28Feels good, doesn't it?
12:29That's a good boy.
12:32Just want to let you know we're doing doggy makeovers down the street,
12:35right here at the Doggy Run.
12:37Oh, yeah, that's great.
12:38How do we get that done?
12:39It's right over here, down the block.
12:40Right down there.
12:41$3.
12:42Oh, you just lost me.
12:44Hey, Molly.
12:45Hey, Molly.
12:46Come on, Molly.
12:47It's okay.
12:48Hey, Molly.
12:49It's okay.
12:50We're giving doggy showers.
12:52It's right here in the park.
12:56This is working like a home, man.
12:58We haven't even broken even yet.
13:00No, we haven't.
13:01It's not an easy task.
13:02Half the dogs don't like to be washed.
13:04Hey, Molly.
13:05It's okay, Molly.
13:06The other half of the people haven't brought their money to the park.
13:08Are you guys interested in that?
13:10We would be, but I actually don't have any money.
13:12Oh, okay.
13:13So, it's just, you know, it's a big cluster screw-up situation.
13:17It's okay.
13:18Molly, it's okay.
13:19Come on, Molly.
13:20There you go.
13:21Come on, Molly.
13:22That's a good girl.
13:23There you go.
13:24Kevin, how many have we done, roughly?
13:25Probably like 10.
13:26In total?
13:27Jennifer, early on, decided that we should keep it simple.
13:30We should focus on a dog-washing company,
13:33and I was deeply concerned that we were not doing enough business.
13:37Jen, here's the logic.
13:40We could go to the east side at another park.
13:42If it has a water supply, I'll take a bucket and try to start up a similar business over there.
13:46My concern is having three of you gone and there's no water supply.
13:49But three of us can't do anything here.
13:52I think you guys just need to go out there and sell it.
13:54Because I'm convincing people, just talking to them.
13:56Jen, I am.
13:57I'm sending everybody that I can.
13:58I'm funneling people into here.
14:01Okay, I can't send you guys off on wild goose chases at this point.
14:04I need you guys just to promote.
14:05I am a little frustrated that we don't have two locations going.
14:08And I think we're marching down a path to defeat and doom.
14:19I'm definitely saying we're going to do charity.
14:21I agree.
14:22A fire station might not be a bad idea.
14:24The new Mosaic team consists of Wes, Andy, me, Sandy, Maria, and Stacy.
14:30My anxiety is probably highest around Stacy.
14:32She can get a little annoying, not only in the pitch of her voice,
14:35but in her constant questions.
14:37Why would they trust us with their dogs?
14:43I realize that this is not a task to overcomplicate.
14:46The strategy that we thought of almost immediately,
14:49dog washing, dog service, we tied to charity.
14:53We have an event today,
14:55and all we wanted to do is be able to donate some of our proceeds
14:59at the end of the day to engine company number 74.
15:05Yeah, the problem is the press office is closed,
15:07and I just wanted to give you guys cash.
15:14I'm a little frustrated with the fact that we've just wasted
15:17about two hours on the New York Fire Department,
15:20which turned out to be a complete dead end.
15:22But that was not my responsibility.
15:23Our failure is solely attributed to Wes.
15:29We've got the tape, we've got the Polaroids,
15:31we've got the buckets, we're on our way.
15:32Okay, corner 72nd and Riverside.
15:34Fight, fight.
15:37Kelly, Maria, and I headed off to a convenience store
15:39to pick up the supplies,
15:40while Wes and the rest of the team tried to call the Fire Department.
15:42That didn't work out.
15:43Nixed on the Fire Department?
15:44Yeah.
15:45No explanation?
15:46Wes put me in charge of getting the charity.
15:48Finding a charity is a big deal because people are good-hearted,
15:51and if they know that a portion of the proceeds is going to help animals,
15:54you know, a lot of people have dogs or animal lovers,
15:56and that's the angle that we're trying to take.
15:58I went to a major pet store, had him recommend animal shelters.
16:01There was only one that was open today.
16:03What's your name?
16:04Marlene.
16:05Marlene.
16:06And what animal shelter are you with?
16:07Kitty Kind.
16:08Kitty Kind.
16:09Basically, what I want to do is I want to wash dogs,
16:12and then we want to give you the cash,
16:14when that portion of the proceeds, when all this is done.
16:16But we're a cat shelter.
16:17Right, right.
16:18But, you know, cats, dogs,
16:19I mean, we're all in the same business here, helping animals.
16:21Cats, dogs, you know, we're helping.
16:23It's all in.
16:25Maria, good news.
16:26Kitty Kind.
16:27Kitty Kind is going to come over to pick up the cash herself.
16:30Very good.
16:31You have the phone?
16:44Check your pockets. Hold on.
16:45I only have one pocket.
16:47Well, I'm trying to think.
16:48How do we leave the cat?
16:50You just finished saying,
16:51thank you so much for calling, please call us back.
16:54Right.
16:55And you know what?
16:56I might have put the phone down to grab this.
16:58And he left our cell phone in the cab.
17:01Critical mistake.
17:03Impacts us in a lot of different ways.
17:05We can't separate into two groups anymore effectively.
17:07We can't call or communicate.
17:09Monumental error,
17:10and I'm not sure what the impact's going to be to revenue,
17:13but it's definitely impacted what we're capable of doing with the team.
17:16Yeah, Kelly, it's not in here.
17:26Come on, there we go.
17:27There you go.
17:28There we go.
17:29Not so bad, eh?
17:30Not so bad.
17:31Hey, Kevin.
17:32Has everybody here been hit?
17:35Jen, might I suggest a place on the east side?
17:37No, I agree.
17:38If we're not getting the traffic,
17:39then I think that's absolutely what we should do.
17:41On the recommendation of Raj,
17:42he felt like there was another strong location out there
17:44and convinced me that we could potentially
17:46send a few people out to another location
17:48and have two teams going.
17:50I made the decision to send Chris and Ivana out to another location,
17:53go out and massage dogs.
17:56Massage your dog!
17:57Hi.
17:59Would you be interested in a doggie massage today?
18:01It's a dollar per minute.
18:02I'm really not too keen on going up to a stranger
18:04and asking them if I can massage their dog.
18:06Frigging nuts.
18:07Someone came up to me and says,
18:08can I massage your dog?
18:09You know, the first thing I would think about
18:11is kicking this person in the head.
18:13We are offering doggie massages.
18:15It's a dollar per minute or $10 for $15.
18:18Okay, sure, why not?
18:19Okay.
18:20As long as your dog doesn't bite me.
18:22I'm sitting there, I got a Rolex presidential on,
18:25and I'm over here massaging this lady's dog
18:28for a dollar a minute.
18:30I mean, it was just,
18:31it smelled like crap and piss and just sitting there
18:34and just so degrading, so embarrassing.
18:37This is embarrassing.
18:39This is so embarrassing.
18:47Andy, I need you to go sell.
18:48Okay.
18:49Kelly and Sandy, set up the washing trap
18:53and actually start washing.
18:54Okay.
18:55Right now, we're at a dog run on 72nd and Riverside.
18:58We're setting up a extreme doggie makeover station
19:02where dogs can get washed and have free treats.
19:04Take as many treats as you like.
19:05You can adjust the volume with this piece too,
19:07so you can do it yourself.
19:08Time is critical in this task.
19:10It became clear that there was kind of a lunchtime,
19:12walking time when people would be out with their dogs.
19:15We didn't get here until probably 12, 30, 1 o'clock
19:17and get set up,
19:18so we weren't able to capitalize on that.
19:20What we'll do is we'll do 15 bucks
19:22for an extreme doggie makeover.
19:25They'd like to get a Polaroid.
19:27We're going to have people do that.
19:28I came up with the idea to take Polaroid pictures
19:30because you can sell them for $5, $10,
19:32so whatever you do, you're making money.
19:34So to me, that seemed like a good idea.
19:36Hi, Amber.
19:37I'm Sandy.
19:38Hello.
19:39Why can't we stick with the Polaroid idea
19:41and get a cute little costume
19:42and be like, we're taking doggie photos
19:44because I've just gotten several comments,
19:45you're not washing my dog in this weather.
19:47I was like, you know what?
19:48There's so many people who don't want to get their dogs washed.
19:50Why don't we use the freaking camera?
19:52We need to go out,
19:53we need to get some stupid little doggie outfits
19:55and take pictures.
19:56I mean, it was a really simple concept.
19:58Cute photos, like badass dog,
20:00you know, girly dog, like western dog.
20:03We get some themes going, like it's for a good cause.
20:05We can't buy complicated outfits for this.
20:08But maybe they're cheap.
20:09All of the money.
20:10I guarantee you they're not cheap.
20:13Okay.
20:15Oh, how cute is that?
20:16How much are these?
20:17Those are $29.99.
20:19There are costumes up there,
20:20but they're like $30 each.
20:21I know, we can't do that either.
20:22It just doesn't make any sense.
20:24Stacey likes to argue.
20:26It's not conducive to being part of a good team.
20:28Instead of having good ideas and speaking them,
20:31she argues about them right off the bat,
20:33and that's a waste of the team's time.
20:35Let's go up to Central Park.
20:37That's a spike collar.
20:38These are like rhinestones.
20:40How much do they cost?
20:41$19.99 to $34.99.
20:44Stacey is very persistent,
20:45even though, in my opinion,
20:46she had an unreasonable idea.
20:48It just didn't make any sense
20:50from a cost recovery standpoint.
20:52Let's think about this.
20:53Stacey, we're not going to be able to buy $30 outfits.
21:08Jim, we've got a clipping customer.
21:10What's your dog's name?
21:11Cooper.
21:12Hi, Cooper.
21:13Hi, Cooper.
21:14I'm going to hold Cooper's paws.
21:15Jen's going to clip.
21:16We are out here trying desperately to earn money
21:18offering services to dogs.
21:20We've managed to wash a few dogs,
21:22and now we're trying to brainstorm other ideas we may have.
21:24You know, dog massages, clipping toenails,
21:26anything to get people over on spending money.
21:28Hi, Cooper.
21:29Hi, Cooper.
21:30Cooper, it's okay.
21:31It's okay, it's okay, it's okay.
21:32Cooper, it's okay.
21:34Got one down.
21:36Jen suggested that we do nail clippings as well,
21:38which I was a little bit, you know,
21:40I don't know,
21:41because dogs have very sensitive nails.
21:43They've got a lot of nerve endings in their nails,
21:45and if you clip them, they can bleed.
21:47It's okay, it's okay.
21:50My dogs, they're sensitive.
21:53Cooper, it's okay.
21:55I'm pretty good with dogs and with animals,
21:57so I was able to calm a lot of the dogs.
21:59I actually had to hold a lot of the smaller dogs
22:01while they got their toenail clippings.
22:05I had, like, a sleeper hold on one dog
22:07so we could get, you know, the paws out,
22:09and the dogs would be yapping, and Jen's like,
22:11oh, my God, this dog's going to kill me.
22:13A little scary, a little scary.
22:15Everybody really contributed to this task,
22:17and it really was a team effort,
22:19but I know whatever happens, it's going to be close.
22:33There we go, there we go.
22:35Whoo-hoo!
22:37Good watch for the bath.
22:39So much for the bath, Lucky.
22:41What are you doing?
22:43Oh, yeah.
22:45Good girl. You're very nice.
22:47Yes.
22:49Jake seems to be doing okay.
22:51Kelly and Sandy are actually washing the dogs.
22:53They seem to be having fun.
22:55They seem to be doing a very good job.
22:57Maria's looking provocative, I suppose,
22:59in order to attract some attention.
23:01I don't know about marketing the dog wash.
23:03Looks like she's marketing herself.
23:05Andy is chasing people down
23:07like a lawyer in an ambulance,
23:09and Stacy is, um...
23:11I haven't figured out what Stacy's doing yet.
23:13Oh, yeah.
23:15Get the butt moving with it.
23:17There you go, Teddy.
23:19Whoo!
23:21Sandy, we have a new customer.
23:23It annoyed me that Stacy didn't at least come up to me
23:25and bring me a cup of water
23:27or say, Sandy, can I just take over for a minute?
23:29She could care less,
23:31and at the end of the task, she was like,
23:33I'm so filthy!
23:35And I was like,
23:37are you kidding me? You're filthy?
23:39I've been in dog wrap all day.
23:41That's not filthy.
23:43Thank you very much, you two.
23:45Have a great day, and thanks for coming in.
23:47On this task, every dime counts.
23:49We've had some really, really good periods.
23:51We've had an hour of almost full traffic.
23:53Thank you guys very much. Really appreciate it.
23:5530, 35.
23:57This is gonna be pretty tight.
23:59Anything's possible in this game, no question about it.
24:01If we win, I'll be a hero.
24:03If we lose, I'll be a jackass.
24:11Doggie wash, one day only.
24:15Thank you very much.
24:17Thank you, sir.
24:19Thank you. Have a good weekend.
24:21Right now, it's 5 minutes to 8,
24:23so we're basically done.
24:25As you can tell, the sun's going down.
24:27I think it's kind of late to be washing dogs.
24:29Good job, guys. Nice job.
24:31I didn't have a chance to thank you today, so thank you now.
24:33After the test was over,
24:35you know I'm covered with dog hair and wet and nasty.
24:37We showered up, everybody got all dressed up,
24:39and we went out to dinner.
24:41We kind of blew off some steam,
24:43and everybody got a chance to relax.
24:45I got a couple dog bites today, by the way.
24:47I just had a massage of pit bull.
24:49A poor Kevin was holding this beagle,
24:51and the dog's like,
24:53and I was like,
24:55I'm getting that freaking $10.
24:57I had him in a sleeper hole.
24:59I'm a dog person. I enjoy working with animals.
25:01Part of being a good leader is being able to
25:03fill a role with the right person,
25:05and I felt like I was the right person
25:07to be handling the dog wash.
25:09I felt like I needed to be in the trenches,
25:11overseeing that process,
25:13and I'm the only person on the team that would clip toenails,
25:15so there was really no one else to fill that role except me.
25:17You know what the secret is?
25:19Cutting really small. Yeah.
25:21I got two bleeds all day.
25:23One on Raj's pants.
25:25If we lose this task today,
25:27it'll be Jen's fault.
25:29Jen doesn't know how to draw the line
25:31between being a team leader and a team member.
25:33To her, the dog task was all about her
25:35washing and clipping the dog.
25:37Guys, by the end, I thought I was gonna get people
25:39offering to let me spay and neuter their dog.
25:41I was performing surgery.
25:55Hello.
26:11Morning.
26:13Hi.
26:15Jennifer, how was it leading your new team?
26:17I think my team did pretty well.
26:19It was challenging leading people
26:21that I'm not familiar with, but I think we did a good job.
26:23Wes, how'd your team do?
26:25My team is a hard-working team.
26:27They did as well as I think they could have done.
26:29All right.
26:31Carolyn?
26:33Well, I think Mosaic got started a little late,
26:35but ultimately kept with a simple plan of washing dogs.
26:37They had a price point of $15.
26:39They made a profit of $122.12.
26:41They did okay.
26:47Okay. Alan?
26:49Well, I think Apex had a very good plan.
26:51They were diversified, not just in location,
26:53but also in services.
26:55And plus the diversification,
26:57they earned a net profit of $307.41.
27:01Well, that means you won.
27:05Wes, that means you lost.
27:09Congratulations, Apex.
27:11That's really a great job.
27:13Almost three times as much profit.
27:15And that's good by any standard.
27:17Jennifer, as project manager
27:19of the winning team,
27:21next week, should you lose,
27:23you'll be exempt from being fired.
27:27Now, you're going to like what I have to say
27:29because previously you met
27:31a great leader, Rudy Giuliani.
27:33Now you'll be meeting
27:35with another great leader,
27:37the current mayor of the city of New York,
27:39Michael Bloomberg,
27:41at Gracie Mansion.
27:43So good luck.
27:47And you folks, you know what's going to happen.
27:49I'll see you back tonight at the boardroom.
27:51Somebody will be fired.
28:07Michael Bloomberg, the mayor of New York City.
28:09He's done some really great things.
28:11He has a business background
28:13and has just recently come into politics.
28:15Coming in with a business background,
28:17what have you found challenging
28:19or frustrating about being involved in city politics?
28:21Well, I was once asked the difference between
28:23government and business, and I said that
28:25business is a dog-eat-dog world
28:27and government is just the opposite.
28:29The unique perspective that Mayor Bloomberg
28:31brings is that he's a billionaire.
28:33So his insights, having both
28:35led and succeeded
28:37in the business realm and in the political realm,
28:39should be given particular heed.
28:41The only advice I can really give you,
28:43don't ever compromise on your standards
28:45or your objectives
28:47because the worst thing is to compromise
28:49and lose.
28:51All the best. Good luck to all of you.
28:53Anytime there's a reward
28:55which involves the ability to acquire
28:57knowledge from people who have
28:59succeeded in business and in politics
29:01is a far greater
29:03reward than just an expensive dinner
29:05because knowledge is power
29:07and power is a gift that can never be
29:09taken away from you.
29:13Dog, dog, dog, dog, dog, dog, dog.
29:15Dog, dog, dog, dog, dog, dog, dog.
29:17Dog, dog, dog, dog, dog, dog, dog.
29:19Dog, dog, dog, dog, dog, dog, dog.
29:21Dog, dog, dog, dog, dog, dog, dog.
29:23We could have struggled.
29:25We want to take a picture of the dogs
29:27and we have these cute little costumes.
29:29What dog owner is going to say no?
29:31I don't regret not coming up with a dog massage.
29:33To be honest, I think it's tedious, disgusting
29:35and at the same time, it's like,
29:37who the hell needs that?
29:39There's no way that Stacey can be the apprentice here.
29:41People don't have confidence in Stacey.
29:43People think Stacey is way too much talk,
29:45way too much argument.
29:47Here's what I will promise you, okay?
29:49I am not going to bad mouth you in there
29:51but at the same time, you've got to do the same
29:53because it's easy to point the finger
29:55at the project manager.
29:57Wes failed as a project manager.
29:59He made some very wrong decisions
30:01with regard to this particular task
30:03that cost us our victory
30:05and he's going to be fired tonight.
30:11I am not going to bad mouth you in there
30:13but at the same time, you've got to do the same
30:15because it's easy to point the finger
30:17at the project manager.
30:19Here's what I will promise you, okay?
30:21I am not going to bad mouth you in there
30:23but at the same time, you've got to do the same
30:25because it's easy to point the finger
30:27at the project manager.
30:29Here's what I will promise you, okay?
30:31I am not going to bad mouth you in there
30:33but at the same time, you've got to do the same
30:35because it's easy to point the finger
30:37at the project manager.
30:39Maria,
30:41since you were the project manager
30:43on the winning team last week,
30:45you're exempt so you have no real problem.
30:47What was the problem with this team?
30:49The problem with this particular task
30:51really boiled down to leadership.
30:53This task was very unusual though
30:55because it was such a short period of time.
30:57Yeah, but it wasn't that tough a task.
30:59It wasn't that tough a task.
31:01Kelly,
31:03you're fired.
31:05You're fired.
31:07You're fired.
31:09You're fired.
31:11You're fired.
31:13You're fired.
31:15You're fired.
31:17You're fired.
31:19You're fired.
31:21You're fired.
31:23You're fired.
31:25You're fired.
31:27You're fired.
31:29You're fired.
31:31You're fired.
31:33You're fired.
31:35Okay.
31:37Four in two hours.
31:39Sandy, this whole process,
31:41what was your role yesterday?
31:43I washed dogs.
31:45I had the elegant job of scrubbing dogs all day.
31:47How many dogs did you wash?
31:49I washed just as many as Kelly did.
31:51What does that mean, four or eight?
31:53Because he said eight and there were only four.
31:55So he exaggerates.
31:57I hate people that exaggerate.
31:59We just didn't get the traffic that we wanted
32:01and we definitely did not charge enough.
32:03I think we're in the wrong location.
32:05The reality is that the location was good
32:07but it was very slow.
32:09I did at one point want to try another location.
32:11The problem with that
32:13is that earlier in the day
32:15Andy lost our phone.
32:17You lost it? That's not good, Andy.
32:19You know, you have not done great, Andy.
32:21I keep sticking up for you.
32:23Maybe because you went to Harvard.
32:25Maybe because you're this big debating champion or something.
32:27But you've sort of been a disaster.
32:29You understand that.
32:31I contributed over 40% by myself
32:33and was closing more deals
32:35than anyone else, getting people to wash their dogs.
32:37Wes, is he too young again?
32:39Here we go again.
32:41At the end of the day, my problem
32:43with Andy's performance, and it's not just this week,
32:45is that Andy needs to be checked in on
32:47and Andy needs to be managed.
32:49When you say Andy has to be checked in on,
32:51like by a maid?
32:53Who has to check in, his mother?
32:55No, the project manager and other members of the team.
32:57Mr. Trump, if that's true, then he decided
32:59that charity was the goal.
33:01I closed that deal within one hour in a cab,
33:03not calling him once.
33:05What was the charity? The charity was Kittykind.
33:07I know, but that's a cat charity.
33:09It's a pretty bad charity with respect to dogs.
33:11Well, it's an animal rescue.
33:13The last thing the dogs want to know
33:15is that they're helping cats.
33:17Shouldn't you have thought more along the lines of services?
33:19Washing or grooming or trimming or massaging?
33:21Out of all the money you raised,
33:235% of it went to charity,
33:25which was $19.
33:27Do you have any massage dogs?
33:29From what I'm told, they do, Donald.
33:31Only God knows.
33:33I don't want that job.
33:35I'd rather build buildings.
33:37Okay.
33:39Stacy, do you think you should take any blame?
33:41Do you think you should be responsible for the loss?
33:43No.
33:45Stacy, who would you fire?
33:47I would fire Andy under these circumstances.
33:49Andy has strong points.
33:51Wes has more strong points for our team.
33:53Okay, Andy, who would you fire?
33:55I would fire Wes.
33:57All right, Wes, you have a choice
33:59of bringing two people or three people
34:01back into the boardroom.
34:03What do you want to do?
34:05I'd like to do two
34:07because I think that
34:09Sandy and Kelly
34:11are completely accountable
34:13for what they did,
34:15and Maria's exempt,
34:17so there's no reason for me
34:19to bring an extra person in.
34:21Who are the two people?
34:23All right, Sandy, Maria, Kelly,
34:25up to the suite.
34:27You're safe.
34:29You three, I'll see you right back in the boardroom.
34:31All right.
34:51Carolyn, what do you think?
34:53I don't think Stacy produced.
34:55I think Andy's kind of all over the place.
34:57Wes was somewhat of a poor leader.
34:59I felt that Andy losing his
35:01lines of communication was a very serious matter.
35:03If this was a military maneuver
35:05and he lost his line of communication,
35:07he could lose an entire battalion.
35:09However, I did feel that Stacy was under the radar,
35:11did not put herself out
35:13to try to promote more business,
35:15and frankly, Donald, I don't know what she did
35:17besides debate everyone.
35:19All right.
35:21Robin. Let him in.
35:23Please go back into the boardroom now.
35:41Wes,
35:43why did you bring Stacy into the room?
35:45I brought Stacy into the boardroom because
35:47she wasted time
35:49with me with her banter a little bit.
35:51She wanted to buy
35:53outfits for these dogs.
35:55Why didn't you listen to Stacy's ideas?
35:57They were expensive.
35:59For the task we had and the short period of time we had,
36:01I was very, very conscious
36:03of the money that we were spending.
36:05So she continued to bring
36:07that up with me several times.
36:09I think in this task and down the line,
36:11she could pose a problem
36:13in wasting time asking too many questions
36:15that she should know the answer to already.
36:17I completely disagree with that.
36:19I said we have a Polaroid camera
36:21sitting on our table that wasn't being used.
36:23Let's have some kind of spin
36:25and take pictures.
36:27Are you just a bad salesperson where you couldn't get your point across?
36:29No. Wes vacillated.
36:31We're in about seven weeks now.
36:33I'm still trying to figure out
36:35something that you're bringing to the table here.
36:37I think I bring a lot to the table.
36:39Why did you bring to the table?
36:41I promoted. I brought sales in.
36:43When you keep saying promoted, I see you next to the table
36:45where Maria's already standing.
36:47She's got her little doggy biscuits.
36:49And I see you out there handing flyers.
36:51Meanwhile, she's four yards away.
36:53You have all these great ideas and none of them are taking place.
36:55Why? That was Wes's decision.
36:57What do you think, Andy?
36:59Do you think Stacey can be a good leader?
37:01She does have a lot of good ideas,
37:03but actually getting them implemented and carrying that through
37:05I would say would be something
37:07that she would need to work on.
37:09Isn't that Wes's fault?
37:11No, Stacey, sometimes you have to sell your ideas.
37:13You can't just say this is an idea I have and take it or leave it.
37:15You have to sell the idea.
37:17But if you're going to be a CEO, you've got to get your point across.
37:19It was this particular task.
37:21Perhaps you've had ideas and they've been dismissed
37:23and we've never heard from Stacey again.
37:25You have to find a way to communicate
37:27with your CEO or leader
37:29and convince him or her
37:31that a change is necessary.
37:33I agree with you.
37:35And to stay in the path of destruction
37:37doesn't work.
37:39I agree with you. I completely agree with you.
37:41I agree with you completely
37:43and that's part of the reason why I do feel like
37:45I'm a very strong leader.
37:47People listen to my ideas.
37:49Just with you, you know, I think you were a lousy leader.
37:53And, you know, the fact that you lost
37:55the communication system
37:57and as Alan said, if this were
37:59a military operation, you would have been wiped out.
38:01That was really terrible.
38:03But what I hate
38:05is the fact that Stacey keeps
38:07going on about responsibility,
38:09how it's never your fault.
38:11You know, you never take responsibility.
38:13I would love to be project manager.
38:15I would love to be project manager.
38:17You never give me the opportunity to lead a team.
38:19We're not going to give you the opportunity to be PM.
38:21You have to do that yourself.
38:23You have to convince other people to follow, even if you're not the project manager.
38:25I agree with you.
38:27The thing I really dislike, Stacey, and this is week after week,
38:29this is just now, is that you're always
38:31complaining.
38:33And when you fail to sell your ideas, you blamed Wes.
38:35You can't just blame the project
38:37manager when you're unsuccessful
38:39getting your point across. Do you understand that?
38:41And I think he did a lousy job
38:43and I think he made a terrible mistake.
38:45But Stacey, you're fired.
38:53Sorry to hear that.
38:55Go ahead.
38:57Out.
38:59Good luck.
39:13Thank you, Stacey.
39:15Good luck, Wes.
39:17Good luck.
39:19Let's go, Andy.
39:21Good luck.
39:29I think if you made her project manager,
39:31you'd find out what she can do at that point.
39:33Yeah, but for her to turn around and say,
39:35give me the responsibility, go get it yourself.
39:37We're not here to give you the project manager's position.
39:39I just didn't like the fact that she never took responsibility.
39:41And I got a little bit tired of it.
39:59Stay tuned for scenes from our next episode.
40:30Today in the boardroom,
40:32essentially, Wes tried to pin
40:34our loss on me.
40:36And I find it pretty amusing
40:38because I was just trying to help him throughout the entire time.
40:40I think that
40:42Mr. Trump didn't get a chance
40:44to get to know me.
40:46And he can make his
40:48opinions based on what he sees
40:50and I would not have done anything
40:52differently. This experience
40:54is an amazing
40:56opportunity to learn more
40:58about yourself and an amazing
41:00opportunity to learn more about others.
41:02I feel I've learned a lot and I'm really
41:04proud of the job that I've
41:06done and I'm sorry
41:08that he chose to fire me at such an early stage in the game.
