00:00Tonight, from the world-famous Hollywood Bowl, this is the season finale of The Apprentice.
00:14And now, the man behind the toughest job interview on the planet, America's boss, Donald Trump.
00:27Wow.
00:34Unbelievable.
00:38Wow.
00:41Unbelievable.
01:07How great is this?
01:10The Hollywood Bowl, fireworks, Sinatra sang here, the Beatles, and now I'm on this stage.
01:19I love it.
01:24Say hello to my kids, Ivanka and Don.
01:32This season, our interview process was unlike any other.
01:37We took it all the way to Los Angeles.
01:39We left New York, and boy, do we love New York.
01:42But we're in Los Angeles.
01:44Take a look.
01:52Thirteen weeks ago, I invited 18 candidates to Los Angeles to compete for the dream job of a lifetime.
02:01They stayed on this beautiful property in Beverly Hills.
02:07While I stayed in the mansion right next door to keep an eye on my apprentice hopefuls.
02:12They were divided into two teams, Kinetic and Arrow.
02:16And Heidi and Frank were selected project managers.
02:25For their first task, the teams ran a car wash.
02:35The results were close, but Kinetic won and Arrow lost.
02:40And in a new twist, the winning team would live inside their beautiful home.
02:46While the losing team would live outside in tents.
02:54It was a classic battle of the haves versus the have nots.
02:59I need a flashlight. I can't see anything.
03:01Oh, that's so weird.
03:04In addition, winning project managers would join me in the boardroom to help me fire someone from the losing team.
03:11You see the fire I have in myself.
03:13At this point, I'm fighting for my life to stay here.
03:15I want to prove myself to you, sir.
03:17And although Frank was the losing project manager, I admired his tenacity as he fought for his life.
03:24If I got blew away by a landslide, sir, I would say the ball falls on my court.
03:29But to come this close and not get it, that kills me.
03:32I think this guy's a worker. I think he's got a tremendous fire that you don't have.
03:36I have fire. Here's the problem, Martin.
03:38I think to work for me, though, it's too much nitty gritty stuff.
03:41I don't see it.
03:42But that's what I do, sir.
03:43Martin, Martin.
03:44Yes, sir.
03:45You're fired.
03:49It was a different story for Kerry, who didn't impress me with his fashion ideas.
03:54Who's going to wear that suit?
03:56And he was the second person fired.
03:58I'm going to give you that suit, but I'm going to say, Kerry, you're fired.
04:05The following week, the task was to create a celebrity sightseeing tour.
04:09And James, an Internet executor from Seattle, scored big with his clever idea.
04:14How about the Lakers, huh? Let's give a hand to the Laker girls.
04:21Are you guys excited?
04:27But Michelle didn't have any big ideas.
04:30And when her team suffered a miserable defeat...
04:33I would have hoped that we could have won.
04:35She made a shocking choice.
04:37It's just, it's not worth it to me to go through this.
04:40It really isn't.
04:42So you're quitting?
04:43I would love to resign from the process.
04:45But doesn't that make you a quitter?
04:47It does not.
04:48Doesn't that make you a loser?
04:49I've never done it.
04:50You've done it now.
04:51I have done it now, and I may never do it again.
04:53Michelle, I accept your resignation.
04:55Thank you very much.
04:58With Michelle gone, Arrow won their next task.
05:02And they celebrated their victory with a feast on the beach.
05:06This is what happens when you win.
05:08Well, yeah, it's a nice change.
05:12And Tim caught Nicole's eye.
05:14I think Tim's a good-looking guy.
05:16And everybody's saying that there's a connection there.
05:20Yeah, but I don't know what's going on.
05:24But everyone else saw their connection,
05:26and it wasn't long before sparks flew between Tim and Nicole.
05:30Sparks flew between Tim and Nicole.
05:36But the fun couldn't go on forever.
05:38There was work to be done.
05:40And over the next four weeks, competition became tighter.
05:45Mistakes were made.
05:47When they pass this, it's going to shoot.
05:49No, it doesn't. It shoots over here, you idiot.
05:51And losses forced me to fire some excellent candidates.
05:55Marissa, you're fired.
05:58Marissa.
06:00Aaron.
06:02Amy.
06:03Oh, she's pissed.
06:06Derek.
06:07And Jen.
06:10In week nine, the teams were asked to shoot an Internet webisode.
06:14And Tim and Nicole found themselves in very familiar roles.
06:18Me and Tim are the boyfriend and girlfriend in our webisode.
06:21That's so cute.
06:23Let's go.
06:24Give her their hug, Tim.
06:25We gotta go. We gotta go.
06:26Hug can come later.
06:27Hug can come later.
06:29We're gonna win this task. Are you ready to win this task?
06:32We better do this perfect.
06:34Action.
06:35During the shooting, Nicole noticed a critical mistake.
06:39Okay, cut. That's good.
06:40You guys wanna do that one more time?
06:42It's gonna look so boring. Right now, it's just that one shot.
06:44It needs to change up.
06:45The only way it can change up is just do one,
06:48and it's entirely Tim's face of every line,
06:50and one entirely of my life.
06:51I like that, actually.
06:52I like that.
06:53Let's do what Nicole wants to do, go into close-up faces.
06:55For us, the winning team is AeroCorp.
06:57Whoa, whoa. Congratulations.
07:01As the final weeks progressed, the choices became more difficult.
07:06Green stands for discount.
07:07I think you're gonna be a very successful guy,
07:09but for now, Surya, you're fired.
07:13You did a bad job.
07:14Moona, you're fired.
07:16Angela, you were the project manager of a losing team.
07:19So I'll take the blame on this one.
07:21You have to. Angela, you're fired.
07:23You lost the task because of your bad ideas.
07:26Tim, you're fired.
07:29If you wanted to fire me solely based on this task,
07:32I would 100% agree with you.
07:35Heidi, you're fired.
07:38Christine, you're fired.
07:39You admitted it was your fault.
07:41Christine, you're fired.
07:45Final four. Final four.
07:47It was down to the final four.
07:49James and Stephanie versus Frank and Nicole.
07:53And for their final task,
07:55I asked the teams to produce a commercial
07:58that would appear in a movie theater.
08:00James and Stephanie chose Aaron and Angela to help them.
08:05Frank and Nicole brought back Tim and Surya.
08:09From the start, both teams felt the pressure.
08:12She's trying to fix his problem.
08:14I want Johnny to feel at home.
08:15Here's this, here's this, here's this.
08:17She's turning the hospital into a warm, welcoming home.
08:20Yes!
08:21How's it going to be funny?
08:23I'm nervous about this hospital, Tim.
08:26I am too.
08:28Take ten.
08:29James, you get 20 more minutes to film this exchange.
08:33It doesn't have to be perfect.
08:34Mr. Snook.
08:35Mr. Snook.
08:36Mr. Snook.
08:37Cut. Let's do that one more time.
08:39That's it, that's it.
08:40We really have to go. I have to shut up.
08:42So just do it. I know you can do it. Just do it.
08:44Feeling the pressure.
08:46In the end, the theater audience
08:48In the end, the theater audience
08:50applauded both commercials.
08:56Tonight, the final four will face me in the boardroom.
08:59But only one will win the dream job of a lifetime.
09:02Who will succeed?
09:04Who will fail?
09:05And who will be the apprentice?
09:18Money, money, money, money, money, money.
09:23We are fired.
09:24Some people got to have it.
09:27Yeah, yeah, yeah.
09:29Some people really need it.
09:32Tell me, y'all.
09:34Do thangs, do thangs, do thangs.
09:36Bad thangs, baby.
09:41Dollar bills, y'all.
09:42Come on.
09:43Money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money
10:13It's time to bring out the final four. Here they are. Stephanie. James.
10:40James. Nicole. And Frank. Get out of here.
11:10You guys should be very proud of yourselves. You've made it this far. You're all winners. Last week, I decided not to fire anyone. Tonight, we're firing two, and then we're firing a third, and somebody's going to emerge victorious. Let's see. We'll be right back.
11:30Coming up on the Apprentice finale, a surprise guest drops by, and Donald names his new apprentice live. Hollywood Bowl, here's Donald Trump.
12:00Jen. Surya. Hoona. Angela. Tim. Heidi. And Christine. Sit down, everybody. Angela, our Olympic champion, our Olympic gold medalist, you worked with all four. You know them well. Who do you think I should pick?
12:25Mr. Trump, it was really interesting being a part of this process. Obviously, working with Stephanie and James, I think they're both excellent candidates, so go with one of them.
12:34One of them?
12:35One of them.
12:36Okay, you don't want to be more specific. One of them. So, Stephanie, if you're me, who do I pick?
12:43I say you pick me, Mr. Trump.
12:45You sure?
12:46Absolutely.
12:48You know, you all made videos. They were good videos. One was better than the other, in my opinion. Let's see what your video was, Frank, you and Nicole. Let's take a look right now.
13:00The client just called. They're going to be here in ten minutes.
13:04Always be prepared.
13:06I worked on them this morning, just in case.
13:09One more problem. Your jacket, it smells like smoke.
13:12Well, that is not a problem either. Renusit Super Odor Neutralizer is a lifesaver.
13:18But wait, don't you use it just for the air?
13:20Yes, but it eliminates odors in air, fabric, and carpet.
13:23Oh, showtime. The client's here.
13:29I've got to get this. Sorry.
13:31Hello?
13:32Ms. Jenkins, it's Bobby. Johnny got hurt playing football.
13:34I'll be there soon. John, sweetie, I was so worried, but I'm going to make you feel right at home.
13:40It makes it better, but it's still not like home.
13:42This place stinks.
13:50I have just the thing for both.
13:58Wow, the odor's eliminated, and now it smells like home.
14:02All right, James and Stephanie, let's take a look at the movie you made.
14:07Mrs. Smith has accused her husband of stinking up their home during boys' poker night.
14:16Counsel, proceed.
14:18Dr. Snook, did you do an odor analysis at Mr. Smith's home?
14:22Yes.
14:26And you found nothing?
14:29And you found evidence of tobacco smoke, dirty socks, and head odor?
14:35No, but I found Renusit super odor neutralizer in pure breeze.
14:41Well, that just covers the odor.
14:43No, it captures cages and drops it to the ground, thereby eliminating the odors.
14:52The jury finds the defendant...
14:59...not guilty.
15:04Renusit super odor neutralizer in pure breeze.
15:07Nothing eliminates odors better.
15:18Stephanie, did James hold up his part of the partnership, in your opinion?
15:22I think he did, Mr. Trump. Absolutely.
15:25I think he did, Mr. Trump. Absolutely.
15:27He's a great partner to work with.
15:29Well, maybe I should just choose him.
15:31I don't think so, but he was a great partner to work with.
15:33Why are you better than him? Why are you better than him?
15:35You know, behind every great director, there's a great producer.
15:38And James was definitely a good director,
15:40but you need someone sort of behind the scenes, moving everything along,
15:44making sure the whole big picture comes together, and that's where I come in.
15:47And that was my role here.
15:49Okay.
15:50James, you're a creative guy, you've always been very creative,
15:54but something sometimes seems to be missing.
15:57Do you agree with me, James?
15:58You know, actually, I don't agree with you,
16:00because I am very creative at the same time.
16:02I know how to plan things, and I know how to be very strategic.
16:05I did that as a business for myself,
16:07and so when I'm a leader, I put someone in charge of different aspects,
16:10and I thought Stephanie did a great job being the organization timeline person.
16:14That's what a leader does.
16:15He utilizes the skills of his teammates.
16:17All right.
16:18Frank.
16:19Frank.
16:21Whose concept was this, in actuality?
16:24Whose concept was what you did, your movie?
16:27Well, it was a team effort.
16:29Together we worked.
16:30Nicole handled the editing, I handled the directing.
16:33Concept was done with Nicole, while I was out handling the other irons.
16:38We split up as two leaders.
16:40Nicole, what do you think?
16:42Tell me, what did you think of Frank?
16:44I think Frank did a great job directing.
16:47Frank knows how to get out there and really get things done.
16:49He's very inspirational, so it was great to have him as a partner.
16:53Let me hear from some of your teammates.
16:55I have a lot of respect for these teammates.
16:57They're smart, they're sharp, they're winners,
17:00and maybe they should almost be sitting up here.
17:02Do we agree?
17:03Tim, you went to Harvard, you're a smart guy,
17:05obviously fell in love, and that's okay, there's nothing wrong.
17:08Who would you pick, if you were me?
17:10Forget about the foursome.
17:12As a single, who would you pick?
17:15Stupid question, don't you think?
17:17I think he's going with Nicole.
17:19But, who would you pick, Tim?
17:21I'd pick Nicole, and I know I have no credibility whatsoever on this topic.
17:28Zero. You have zero credibility, but that's okay.
17:31But, if you can look at a couple objective things that take no bias whatsoever.
17:36In real life, she transacts tens of millions of dollars without blinking an eye,
17:41and she was the only one of these four to step up voluntarily as a PM early.
17:45That takes guts.
17:47That's true, that's true.
17:48She's very capable, and so are you.
17:50And good job.
17:51Surya, has your opinion of Frank changed?
17:55No, in what way?
17:59Well, I don't think you had a great opinion of him for a while,
18:01and then you changed it a little bit,
18:03but it doesn't seem to have come back all the way.
18:05Has it changed?
18:07I think Frank's a good guy, and he's worked very hard in this process.
18:11Aaron, what are your thoughts?
18:14I think Stephanie and Gene work very well as a team,
18:17but what I think is that if you're looking for someone to take your organization globally,
18:22with James' technology background, I think he should be your next apprentice.
18:26That's very interesting.
18:28Very interesting. Okay, thank you.
18:30Look, this is going to be a tough evening.
18:32It's going to be a nasty evening.
18:34That would mean, unfortunately, two people are going to be fired very shortly.
18:38A third will come later.
18:40Somebody is going to emerge victorious, so we'll see what happens.
18:48Coming up, advice from a surprise guest,
18:51and Donald names his next apprentice.
18:53We're live from the Hollywood Bowl.
18:57Donald Trump.
19:02Live from the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles,
19:05it's the season finale of The Apprentice.
19:08Here again is Donald Trump.
19:13Before I make any decisions, I want to show you the various jobs, the two jobs.
19:18They each, by the way, come with a salary of $250,000.
19:23The first is overseeing the construction of a luxury resort complex in the Caribbean.
19:31Check this out. It's really beautiful.
19:36Located in the beautiful Dominican Republic,
19:39Capcana is the Caribbean's largest residential development project.
19:43At 47 square miles, Capcana is twice the size of Manhattan
19:48and will soon boast the largest inland marina anywhere in the world.
19:53And now I'm bringing the Trump brand to Capcana
19:56to create the ultimate luxury experience.
19:59It's going to be amazing.
20:01Trump at Capcana will include a beach club,
20:04a condominium hotel, private villas,
20:07a world-class golf course,
20:09and 68 private estates with breathtaking views of the entire development,
20:15as well as the Caribbean Sea.
20:18Although it's set against the backdrop of an ocean paradise,
20:21this project is a huge responsibility.
20:30The other project will be a towering addition to the Atlanta skyline,
20:35a great city. Here it is.
20:40In the heart of Atlanta's Midtown Arts District,
20:43Trump Towers Atlanta will offer a level of luxury
20:46unparalleled anywhere in the city.
20:49Construction of these metal and glass masterpieces will commence this summer,
20:53and over 1,000 workers will move 100,000 tons of dirt and rock
20:58to transform this parking lot into a 47-story luxury condominium complex.
21:07In fact, the 563 cutting-edge condominium units
21:11are so desirable that they're scheduled to be sold out very, very quickly.
21:17When completed in 2010,
21:19Trump Towers Atlanta will redefine Atlanta's skyline.
21:29I want to ask each of you, which would you choose,
21:32and what do you think, what contribution would you make?
21:34Stephanie?
21:35I would choose your project in the Caribbean, Mr. Trump,
21:38because I believe that I bring not only a legal and business background to it,
21:42but also coming at it from the point of view of being in construction.
21:46Having been counsel for developers in construction,
21:49I understand it from the ground up,
21:51whether it's geotechnical issues or roofing issues, I get it.
21:54And I can handle both the golf course aspects and the building aspects.
21:57But it's the Caribbean?
21:58Yes.
21:59Okay, James?
22:00Mr. Trump, I would take the one in Atlanta.
22:02That excites me very much. It's closer to where you are,
22:05and that's really what I want,
22:07and I want to be close to you so I can learn from you.
22:09I believe that I can add a technology element to taking your brand to another level,
22:13through the project, and really make it come together with your team.
22:16Okay, Nicole?
22:18Mr. Trump, like you, I like to think big,
22:20and I really like everything that you have going on in Cap Cana,
22:22with not just the actual building, but the also golf course.
22:26I would really love to help market it and sell it.
22:29Being the daughter of a developer and a real estate agent,
22:31I really think that I can contribute to that.
22:33I also like to play golf. I've worked on golf courses.
22:36So I think that I can really contribute in every aspect at Cap Cana.
22:39And you're a good real estate agent. I know that for a fact.
22:42Frank?
22:43I love the job in Atlanta.
22:44With over 10 years experience, I feel I would be a great asset in helping you put up that building.
22:49I mean, I'd be looking forward to join the Trump Organization and be part of the team.
22:53This is what I do, and I enjoy it.
22:55My dream is to put up skyscrapers, so that's one.
22:58Those are two skyscrapers I would love to help you erect.
23:01Ivanka, do you have any questions?
23:04Well, I just have to say that in looking at the tapes, I was a little bit disappointed.
23:09Nicole, Frank, I have tremendous respect for both of you.
23:12I think you've done a great job up until now, but I was not impressed with your work this go-around.
23:18What would you say? Are you still proud of it in retrospect?
23:21I think our biggest goal with the tapes was to really show that RenewsIt not only works on clothing or carpet,
23:28but that you can use it on all three, air freshener, clothing, and carpet.
23:32And I think that we did a pretty good job coming across to it.
23:35Watching it after sleeping, I do think that there were choppy areas.
23:39I think the 60-second deadline was a little difficult to meet.
23:42I think if we had an extra 30 seconds, you would have seen something absolutely amazing.
23:46I think it was a great idea, and if we would have followed through with the original concept,
23:51I think you would have been much more impressed.
23:53Don, what do you think?
23:54Well, I think you offended half the demographic by spraying down a bum with the RenewsIt.
23:58But more importantly, tactically, I think picking Tim shows a lot of weakness from Nicole's part.
24:03And really, Frankie, picking Surya to represent you after what you did to him in the boardroom,
24:07I don't know how he could ever deliver for you when you destroyed him in the boardroom.
24:10I think it was a weak decision on both of your parts to bring them in to help you out.
24:14If I were them, I wouldn't have done much for you.
24:16Basically, a leader is someone who's supposed to lead his people.
24:20Surya, working for Procter & Gamble, being in marketing, we used him as someone to help in the last final test.
24:27Also taking, in the last test, we had Surya, and we also took...
24:33Tim.
24:34Tim.
24:35Tim, we knew would never backstab us, would do no wrong by us.
24:38You need loyal people on your side at all times.
24:40I know Surya cares a great deal about himself and his integrity, and he would never do anything to weaken that.
24:47So I never felt at any point that he would do anything to hurt us in the final test.
24:53All right, okay.
24:54I want each of you to tell me which two people I should get rid of right now.
24:59Two people, not one.
25:01Frank and Nicole.
25:06Why am I shocked?
25:07Why?
25:08Because I've worked with James from day one, and I have some degree of loyalty to James here.
25:14I've also seen not quite as stellar of a performance from Frank and Nicole.
25:18Yeah, but if I listen to you, I should just hire James right now.
25:21Actually, if you listen to me, you should hire me and let me hire James to work for me.
25:28Okay.
25:30James.
25:33That's not bad, James.
25:34I like your first one better.
25:35Hire me, and then we can also bring Stephanie on board, too.
25:38Who should I fire?
25:39I agree with Stephanie that I would choose Frank and Nicole as well.
25:43Stephanie, I've got a loyalty towards her as well.
25:45We said from day one, we're going to go all the way to the end, and then we'll battle it out.
25:49We'll be friends, but we're going to go on the court, and we're going to battle it out together.
25:52Nicole.
25:53Not very surprising, James and Stephanie.
25:56I think that they did a good job on their tape.
25:58I'll give them that.
25:59They've done well.
26:00I've never seen either of them do something singly well.
26:02Do you have a lot of respect for Frankie?
26:04Oh, absolutely.
26:05Do you think he can be with me with the Trump Organization?
26:08I see him working...
26:09Does he have the sophistication?
26:11I see him working within the Trump Organization.
26:13I don't necessarily know if he'll be as the apprentice.
26:16I can definitely see him on a construction site, as you said at one point.
26:19I mean, he has the heart.
26:20He's a go-getter.
26:21He goes out there.
26:22He does have heart.
26:23Frankie, what do you say?
26:24I would have to say Stephanie and James.
26:25They've been by each other's side throughout this whole competition.
26:28This is an interview process.
26:29There comes a time you have to set yourself apart and show yourself as a leader.
26:32It's easy for them to fall on each other's back, but can you...
26:35Are you better than Nicole?
26:38Yes.
26:41That was a very weak answer, wasn't it?
26:43Yes, Mr. Trump.
26:44Honestly, I started this interview process 13 weeks ago,
26:48and 17 of your candidates chose me to lead them into this interview process.
26:52I have inside vision, and, you know...
26:54I don't know.
26:55You didn't sound too convincing to me.
26:57James speaks of all the creativity, sir.
26:59He's, you know...
27:00This is the final four.
27:01Frankie, we're taking a break.
27:03Okay.
27:04We'll be back.
27:05Coming back.
27:06It's going to be very interesting.
27:07Everybody back.
27:12Coming up, they've had their say.
27:14Now, it's Donald's turn.
27:16When we return with the Apprentice finale.
27:31All right, I've heard you, and now you're going to hear me.
27:35Frank, you hired Syria.
27:38He didn't like you.
27:40He wanted nothing to do with you.
27:42I disagreed with that choice very, very strongly.
27:45Not because of him, he's fine, but because you didn't get along.
27:48Your mini-movie wasn't good.
27:50You almost got fired in the first week, but I do love your drive.
27:54I love lots of things about you, but there are certain liabilities.
27:58Frank, you're fired.
28:01Nicole.
28:03I'm a believer in romance,
28:06but I'm not a believer in inter-office romance.
28:10You loved him, you liked him.
28:12I think that's wonderful.
28:14But you know what?
28:15I want you to love me more.
28:17It's important, because I've got to be the boss.
28:20I didn't like your mini-movie.
28:23It didn't have it.
28:24Nicole, you're fired.
28:26Nicole, you're fired.
28:29Go over and sit with the other candidates, please.
28:31Thank you, thank you very much.
28:33Thank you, thank you.
28:37Thank you for the opportunity.
28:40Good luck, James.
28:43Good luck, Stephanie.
28:57Millions of people applied to be on The Apprentice and to be my apprentice.
29:03You two are the finalists, so there is no loser tonight.
29:06Stephanie, we're going to show a little tape of you and your beautiful family.
29:22You can get another $5,000 out of your client.
29:24If the applicant's attorney wants more, you can get it.
29:26It's not coming from my client.
29:28Especially in light of her upper extremity claim.
29:30I live in Los Angeles, and I'm a defense attorney for one of the largest defense firms in Southern California.
29:36I defend California employers and developers against workers' compensation claims and in construction defect litigation.
29:45Have you ever been deposed before?
29:47You have to be tough in my line of work.
29:49Otherwise, you get pushed around and taken advantage of, and you can't do an effective job for your clients.
29:54I will caution you that myself or other counsel may make comments at trial,
29:58which could prove damaging to your credibility and ultimately to your claim.
30:02I get pushed every day, and I push back.
30:05I'm heading out to mid-Wellshire. There's a construction site, a roofing inspection going on.
30:09I'm a pro at dealing with difficult personality types like you find in construction,
30:14like you find in the foremen that run these big jobs.
30:17When's the inspector supposed to be back out here again?
30:19Probably next week.
30:21Does that put you behind schedule?
30:22Nope. Right on schedule. Everything's going along just fine.
30:31There you go. One more.
30:32If Mr. Trump hires me, he's getting the entire package. He's getting a fighter.
30:38He can pretty much put anything in my hands, and it'll be taken care of the right way and with class.
30:44Stephanie, that's very impressive, but now let's take a look at James.
31:02A few years ago, I was a sales and marketing executive making a six-figure income for a big company,
31:09and I left that to become an entrepreneur.
31:11I wanted to start my own company and take the risk and the initiative to solve a problem.
31:15Good morning.
31:16Hi, James. They're ready for you.
31:17Oh, they are? Okay, great. Thank you very much.
31:19Good to see you.
31:20There's definitely a risk factor of starting your own company
31:23and going out on the limb and leaving a comfortable salary.
31:26But you know what? In life, you only live once.
31:29And if you don't take risks, what's the fun in it?
31:32I came to this country as an immigrant with nothing,
31:35and I want to achieve the highest level of the American dream, and Mr. Trump represents that.
31:41Working and getting this apprenticeship with Mr. Trump, I think that really brings the whole story to a close.
31:49Oh, hey, sweetie. How you doing, huh?
31:53I've been married for four and a half years.
31:55Oh, hey, sweetie. How you doing, huh?
31:59I've been married for four and a half years,
32:01and every day that I come home from work and I see my wife and two little daughters greet me,
32:06it really brings a level of human satisfaction and emotion, and really, I feel complete.
32:13And who's that?
32:15Rabbit.
32:16It's a rabbit.
32:17What's he doing? Make his face. Can you make the same face?
32:21It is a story that I want people to be inspired by because it's not just about James' son and what I've done,
32:27but it's about how it can impact other people to dream big.
32:30I'll compete for you, win for you, never let the Donald say those two bad words.
32:37Fight!
32:50That's very, very cute.
32:52You know, you've both got a nice life going, a great life,
32:55but it's going to get even better for one of you, I think.
32:58So, we will soon find out who is going to be my apprentice.
33:08It all comes down to this, the final boardroom, and a surprise guest next.
33:21Before we go any further, I want to bring out a really special friend and a guest, George.
33:29Come on, George.
33:42Do you have any advice, George? Any advice?
33:45Do you have any advice, George? Any advice?
33:47Advice? I've been watching you, watching both of you, and you're extremely talented.
33:52No question about it, you'd be certainly wonderful for the Trump Organization.
33:57As far as I'm concerned, James, let me tell you, the one thing I find, you seem to lose your focus along the way.
34:03You get into the details and you forget the big deal.
34:06I think you've got to concentrate on the big deal.
34:08Stephanie, the one thing I didn't see was the leadership quality,
34:11that you stood up and really took over and became the leader that I think you can become.
34:16So, I wish you both a lot of luck. It's a tough choice, Donald.
34:19Boy, does that voice sound familiar to me, huh?
34:22I've heard that before. Thanks, George.
34:28All right, let's go for it. Come on, let's go. You ready?
34:31I'm ready.
34:32Ivanka, question.
34:34Well, I guess I would ask how you'd respond to some of the criticism that says that you guys are codependent.
34:39While I like your answer, Stephanie, about hiring James and the camaraderie you both have developed,
34:44can you work and function independently?
34:47Oh, absolutely. I function on a daily basis, both from a business perspective and a legal perspective.
34:53My line of business requires me to be a leader on a daily basis.
34:56I lead hundreds of people through complex litigation where millions of dollars are at risk.
35:01Defending people just like your father, you.
35:04But you never really stepped up as a leader.
35:06I did, actually, Mr. Trump. I was the driving force of our team from day one.
35:11I was not only a creative force, I was the glue that held our team together.
35:15James, did you see Stephanie stepping up as a leader?
35:18Well, I think what it comes down to is Stephanie and I are two different types of people.
35:21I'm a leader that actually gets out there, that leads the team, and really gets the resources and tries to make things happen.
35:27And Stephanie's more of a behind-the-scenes person that actually, she does a great job, but we just took on different roles.
35:32Don?
35:33Well, I guess my question is to James. Can you really see the big picture?
35:36In that last task, you got lucky. Things worked out well for you.
35:39But in the real world, things don't always happen that way.
35:41You got so focused on one aspect of the video that you almost forgot about everything else.
35:45In our company, when we're working on thousands of projects all over the world on such a grand scale in a family organization,
35:51if you can't key in on the big picture, we're going to lose a lot of money.
35:54What can you do about that?
35:55Well, I'm the current CEO of Zudango.com, and that is a company I started from concept all the way to what it is today.
36:01So I'm the visionary. I'm the strategist. I actually align all the people to do the details.
36:05So yes, I can do both details, and I can see the bigger picture.
36:09Stephanie, you seem to go under the radar for the entire long period of time.
36:13You were always under the radar. In one way, I respect it. You never got in trouble.
36:18But in another way, it seemed a little bit strange. I've never seen anything quite like it.
36:22How do you respond to that?
36:23Mr. Trump, I think what you've seen from me is someone who had the respect of every single one of their team members
36:29from day one until today. I never took credit for other people's ideas.
36:34I contributed my own ideas and made sure that my team looked good all the time.
36:39And if someone was falling below the appropriate standard, I made them look good.
36:43I filled in the spaces. I made us work as a team. That's what a leader does.
36:51Mr. Trump? Mr. Trump?
36:53I'd like to ask Heidi. If you were me, who would you choose?
36:58Although I have a great deal of respect for both of them, I would have to say I love a strong woman,
37:04and Stephanie is the epitome of strong.
37:11Well, I was going to ask Christine, but Christine, I see you clapping, so obviously you agree with Heidi.
37:17I think it's the year of the woman, and I think that you don't have to scream the loudest to be the strongest.
37:24And I think watching Stephanie from afar, she really led in a silent way, if we want to say that,
37:30but I think she kept the frat boys under control.
37:33I see.
37:37Hey, Frankie, give me a little help. Who would you choose?
37:40Mr. Trump, you have two individuals up here. I would have to say James did step up throughout the interview process.
37:48Stephanie was behind the scenes. It's a very difficult choice you have to make here, sir.
37:53I guess this time you're on your own.
37:57Surya, who would you choose, Surya?
38:00Well, sir, I thought a lot about this, and I think there's a young man by the name of Sanjaya who's looking for a job,
38:06and I think you should hire him. I really do. I thought long and hard about it.
38:10Okay, that's really brilliant. Really brilliant.
38:13Well, we're coming down to the end, I think I know, but we're going to announce that in a very, very short period of time.
38:19Ivanka, do you have anything further to say?
38:21Well, I think I'm just really, quite frankly, proud of both of you.
38:24I do think you work very well together as a team, and I have to say this.
38:27I was a little concerned that you never stepped up as a project manager,
38:31and I wonder if, like my father said, that was just genius strategy or it was fear.
38:36So I'd like you to explain that a little further.
38:38Ivanka, I think if you watch...
38:40You know what, you're going to explain it later, my decision when we come back.
38:43Fourteen weeks, and it's all come down to this.
38:50But Donald makes his decision live when we return.
39:02Stephanie, do you want to finish your answer?
39:04I'd like to start it, Mr. Trump.
39:06Ivanka, you asked me whether what you saw was fear.
39:09I am fearless. I was fearless from day one.
39:11I did step up and volunteer to be a project manager when Syria was fired,
39:15but I was never under fire in the boardroom.
39:17Not once did you ever see me brought back by any team member,
39:20nor did you ever hear a negative word spoken about me from day one of this process.
39:25That's largely true. Don, what do you have to say?
39:28Well, I think most importantly, you guys have done a great job.
39:30You've gone this far.
39:31To do that in this company with him as a potential boss is not an easy thing to do.
39:35Trust me, we know.
39:36I know this is a reality show, but we do this every day.
39:39We are developers first and foremost, and so when you come to work for this company,
39:43and one of you will very shortly, you have to give it your all.
39:46You have to know what your weaknesses are now.
39:48I think we've pointed them out to you.
39:49You'll have to overcome those to do well, to succeed in this organization.
39:52Once you figure that out and do it, you're going to do great,
39:54and I'm going to be really proud of one of you.
39:56I'm prepared to do that.
39:58I think you're both prepared to do that, and I think you're both outstanding,
40:02and I want to congratulate both of you.
40:04There are over a million people wanting to do this and wanting to be in your position.
40:07Stephanie, you've gone under the radar, but you've gotten along with everybody.
40:11You're obviously brilliant based on your academic background, your marks,
40:15everything you've done, and I want to really commend you.
40:18You've done a fantastic job.
40:20But by going under the radar, I'm a little bit concerned.
40:23We'll find out, okay?
40:25We'll find out.
40:26James, you're terrific in every respect.
40:29You're totally creative.
40:31I love creative people.
40:33But there were certain things and certain dialogue that you gave during the course,
40:39and you know what I'm talking about, that bothered me very much.
40:42You're an outstanding guy.
40:44I really think you're going to be a big success.
40:47But for now, James, you're fired.
40:50Stephanie, you're hired.
40:52Good luck.
40:53Good luck.
40:55Good luck.
40:56Good luck.
40:57Good luck.
