00:00Basic Tipton Digital has added a first-of-its-kind two-year-old and training sale to its upcoming
00:06February digital auction.
00:08We visited a few of the horses that will be selling there and spoke with their consignors
00:12about how they envision the future of two-year-old digital sales.
00:17We have a beautiful yaupon colt out of Frosty Margarita.
00:20His dam was a New York bred champion and this is her second foal.
00:24We think a lot of this horse.
00:26He's definitely got all the parts we wanted to make sure we brought a horse that could
00:30grab people's attention to this sale for this format.
00:32I've talked to a few people about this horse and definitely he's been well received.
00:36The people have looked at him and liked him.
00:38There's definitely a market on the digital platform and the Fasig guys are doing a great
00:42job at promoting these horses and making sure the right people are paying attention.
00:47We have a dialed-in colt out of I'm So Fine and we have a Not This Time colt out of Miss
00:56Tissue.
00:57The colt out of Miss Tissue is a big strapping dark bay colt that we have come to really
01:04respect.
01:06He's done very well in his training.
01:08He was shipped to us in October.
01:11Both of the horses were designed to come to us and be retained by the breeder and go on
01:18to the races.
01:20But when Fasig came up with the plan of the digital sale, we thought that we could present
01:28these two horses with minimal effort and that they would be well received by the public.
01:35Not having to ask as much as you do the last couple braises of a horse when you put it
01:40through a two-year-old sale when the times are posted and you're running against the
01:45clock and showing them on our own surface at home is also beneficial for the horse.
01:52I think maybe a certain horse, certain owners might fit this format more than putting a
01:58pinhook package, a horse that we bought to go to a two-year-old sale in here.
02:03I think the horse that we picked being a homebred of a client that is open to racing also might
02:08be a little more appealing to those breeders and putting them through a two-year-old sale.
02:13Last year, when we got a little bit of a taste of the galloping for sale at a two-year-old
02:21sale, when Sandman was presented, I think is when all of this started to evolve.
02:30And with the success of Sandman, everybody says, hey, there's a different avenue we could
02:35go with presenting two-year-olds to the public for sale.
02:40So I think it's a great idea.
02:43It was something that appealed to us because we didn't have to be so demanding on the horse
02:50to get ready for a two-year-old sale in March.
02:54The digital sales, I do not believe will ever be a threat to the way we are currently conducting
03:02our normal two-year-old sales with the breezes and the showing.
03:07Some people have an appetite for the two-year-old sales and speed and so forth, and then some
03:15people may not have an appetite for the two-year-old speed that we ask in a two-year-old sale.
03:24So this hopefully will be just another avenue to present a two-year-old for sale.
