00:00Hello, welcome to your National Afternoon weather update from the Met Office. It's a
00:04bit of a three-way split in the weather through this afternoon with a lot of
00:08cloud associated with an area of low pressure across the southern parts of
00:11England. This is that area of low pressure that's showing on the satellite
00:15and latest radar imagery being drizzly conditions compared to what we saw
00:19yesterday. And through the rest of the afternoon this cloud and rain is going
00:22to be continuing to push its way northwards affecting parts of South
00:26Wales and across the southern parts of England as well. But cloudy conditions
00:30remain across Northern Ireland, parts of Scotland as well with showery outbreaks
00:34of rain. Some of these showers could turn quite heavy at times possibly
00:38thundery across the northeastern parts of Scotland. But we have got a slither of
00:42something a little bit drier and brighter with some sunny breaks here.
00:47And where we see the sunniest breaks that's where we're going to see the
00:49warmest temperatures with highs of up to 18 possibly even 19 degrees with
00:55temperatures around average elsewhere in the cloud and rain. So as we go
01:00through the latter half of the afternoon and evening time that cloud and rain is
01:04going to continue to push its way north with generally fizzing laying out to
01:08leave a lot of cloud for much of England and Wales. Remaining cloudy across
01:13Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland still with some heavy outbreaks of rain
01:16especially across northeastern parts. Perhaps some clearer spells in between
01:21but where we see the clearest spells that's where we'll see some mist and fog
01:25patches developing. But there is a lot of cloud around so temperatures aren't
01:29going to be falling too much tonight so generally frost free but like I say some
01:33mist and fog patches to develop first as we go into Bank
01:38Holiday Monday. But we have got a few areas to watch especially across the
01:42southeastern England we've got this area of rain pushing up from the south so
01:46bringing a damper start here with outbreaks of heavy rain at times
01:50elsewhere staying largely cloudy across Northern Ireland parts of Scotland as
01:55well. But in between we will see some sunny breaks but we'll also see some
01:58showers breaking out especially across parts of the Midlands and also across
02:02Wales and down into southwestern England. Some of these showers that could still
02:07be on the heavy side. But where we do see some sunshine temperatures are still
02:11above average for the time of year so we'll be feeling warm with highs of 18
02:15possibly even 19 degrees across the parts of central England. Later on on
02:22Monday evening then cloud and rain gradually clearing its way southwards
02:26across parts of southern England. Showers generally dying out overnight for most
02:31places but a lot of cloud is still remaining but hopefully turning a little
02:36bit drier and more settled as we go into next week. But for more details on that
