00:00Good morning, welcome to our national morning weather update from the Met Office.
00:04There is a sign of settled weather to come, especially into the weekend.
00:08That's all to do with an area of high pressure out towards the west.
00:11We've got a few frontal system just coming into parts of the southeast, bringing a focus
00:16for some rain, but otherwise higher pressure.
00:18They're coming in charge on Saturday to bring largely settled conditions.
00:23But back to this morning, quite a messy picture out there with outbreaks of showers or rain.
00:27We've got a band across parts of northern Wales, into the Midlands and southeast England,
00:32gradually sinking its way southwards, breaking up to leave sunny spells, but also some heavy
00:37showers.
00:38And the focus of the showers today, the heaviest area, is going to be across parts of central
00:42England and the southeast, where some of these could be heavy with the chance of some thunder.
00:47Elsewhere, sunny spells, scattered showers across parts of Northern Ireland and across
00:52Scotland, but generally less intense than what we saw on Wednesday.
00:56Some brighter spells are further towards the south and drier here, but we have got
01:01a brisk northerly wind, so actually temperatures are going to be a bit suppressed, especially
01:05when exposed to that wind across Northern Ireland and down that north eastern coast.
01:11But in the sunshine, perhaps highs of 18 or 19 degrees.
01:16As we go through Thursday evening, showers are going to be continuing, but pushing their
01:20way southwards across southern parts, clouds still holding on across parts of the southeast
01:26of England and into Yorkshire, with some patchy rain here.
01:29Further towards the west, we'll start to see the influence of the higher pressure, so clear
01:33spells for many.
01:34We've got a slither of clear spells across parts of central the UK, and here we'll see
01:39temperatures falling into the single figures, but the towns and cities are generally holding
01:44up with a bit more of a breeze at around 10 or 11 degrees.
01:49So a bit of a contrast on Friday morning, plenty of dry weather.
01:52Further west you go with plenty of sunshine, a few showers may just come into the south
01:57and the southwest of Wales, but further towards the east, that's where we hold on to quite
02:02a lot of cloud and some patchy outbreaks of rain and drizzle as well, and also a bit of
02:07a breeze here.
02:08So it's going to be quite a cool feeling day there, with temperatures struggling at around
02:1216 or 17 degrees, but in the sunshine, further towards the west and possibly even for northwestern
02:18parts of Scotland, we could see highs of up to 18 or 19 degrees.
02:24And then as we go through the rest of the week, like I said, higher pressure is starting
02:28to take charge, but make sure to hit subscribe on YouTube so you don't miss any details on
02:33that, and I'll catch you soon.
02:34Bye bye!
