00:00Hello there, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. As we go through
00:05this new week, the weather is set to change for the better if you're looking for some
00:09drier weather. That is, we start to say goodbye to areas of low pressure as this area of high
00:14pressure begins to move in and really dominate proceedings as we head towards the middle
00:18of the week. Exceptions, the very far northwest of the country, weather fronts here just try
00:24to move in from time to time, just giving some cloudier and some wetter weather here.
00:28But for most of us, middle of the week onward looks fairly dry indeed. Back to the here
00:34and now, it's not quite there just yet. We've still got some heavy rain to contend with
00:38down towards the southeastern corner, especially for parts of Kent and Sussex, and it's really
00:43going to linger here for much of the day. It's quite a cloudy picture for parts of Scotland
00:48and Northern Ireland with some outbreaks of rain, especially across eastern and central
00:52Scotland. Elsewhere, there will be some bright spells, but that in turn will trigger some
00:57fairly heavy showers in places. So if you do have travel plans throughout the day today,
01:02just do take a little bit of extra time for your journeys because there could just be
01:05some heavy rain almost anywhere really across the country. But where we do see the sunshine,
01:10it will feel fairly warm, highs reaching around 18 or 19 degrees. But if you're stuck under
01:15the cloud, especially across eastern parts of Scotland, northeastern England, feeling
01:19fairly cool here, highs only really struggling to reach around 11 to 13 degrees. So certainly
01:24a little bit below par for where we should expect this time in May. So into this evening,
01:30a lot of the showers gradually beginning to fade away and also the area of rain across
01:34southeast England just gradually moving towards the continent. So by the end of the night,
01:39much of the UK turning dry with some clearer skies, especially across parts of Northern
01:43Ireland and eastern England. The central slice probably remaining fairly cloudy with some
01:49outbreaks of rain just continuing for Scotland and northern England. But where we do see
01:54the clearest skies, we'll see a little bit of mist and fog form and also turning quite
01:57chilly compared to recent nights. Could see lows falling down to about two to three degrees
02:02in the countryside. But for Northern Ireland and eastern England, once any early mist and
02:07fog clears, a lovely start to Tuesday morning. Elsewhere, a lot of cloud around, but I'm
02:12optimistic especially across most southern parts of the UK. We will see some brightness
02:17break through, but that may in turn trigger a few showers. They won't be anywhere near
02:21as heavy or as frequent as Monday, but nonetheless, there will still be a few around. Scotland
02:27unfortunately really remaining fairly grey here. Apart from the far north of Scotland
02:31here actually, we will see some sunshine as the afternoon goes on. Temperature wise, really
02:36dictated once again, whether or not you have cloud or sunshine. Where you do see the sunshine,
02:42highs reaching 20, possibly maybe even 21 degrees in the odd spot. But stuck under the
02:47cloud, especially again across parts of eastern Scotland, temperatures really struggling.
02:51Highs of 12 to possibly 13 degrees. Then having a look at Wednesday, Wednesday starts
02:58to see the high pressure really dominate across the UK. So as you can see, not a raindrop
03:03on the screen, so a largely dry day on Wednesday. Not water or sunshine by any means. There
03:08will be a fair bit of cloud around, but there will also be some sunshine in places and highs
03:14ranging between the mid-teens, possibly the low 20s across the more southern parts of
03:18the country. But do watch out for higher pollen levels as we go through the week ahead
03:24as the settled weather begins to build across the UK. You can find out more about that on
03:28our social media channels and if you want a local forecast, check out our app or our
03:33website. But for me, take care and I'll see you again soon.
