00:00Hello, there. Welcome to your latest Met Office broadcast. It's a mixed bank holiday Monday.
00:07Heavy downpours, outbreaks of rain in places thanks to low pressure. But there is some
00:12better news, some good news on the way for the week ahead as high pressure builds in
00:17for many of us. Though weather fronts will bring some patchy rain across northern parts
00:22of the U.K. at times, but for many it will be warm with some sunny spells, but overnight
00:26mist and fog patches to contend with as well. So looking at the picture for Monday as we
00:33move through the afternoon, a mixture of sunny spells and heavy showers across England and
00:38Wales, perhaps some longer spells of rain in the south-east too. Further north to northern
00:42England, Northern Ireland, it's cloudy but largely dry. Some heavy showers perhaps possible
00:47here. Temperatures 13, 14, 15 Celsius under the cloud, close to 20 degrees Celsius again
00:54in the sunshine. But as I mentioned, there is some heavy showers across the U.K. So if
01:00we look at the details for this afternoon, across south-east England, some heavy downpours,
01:05some localised disruption. Met Office warnings in force for this rain here and also the heavy
01:10showers across Wales, the Midlands into northern England, some local rumbles of thunder. Further
01:15north again into Scotland, some heavy showers possible, 20 to 40 millimetres is possible
01:21in a short space of time for a few of us, so perhaps expect some travel disruption. But in
01:27between, in the sunshine, it will feel warm. As we move into the evening time, the thundery
01:32showers start to ease. Rain still across the south-east, but as we move into the early hours,
01:37it gradually starts to pull away. And then overnight, it's largely dry, but there will be a
01:42lot of cloud, low cloud as well, making it misty and murky over the hills and around the coasts.
01:47Under any clear spells, temperatures will dip into single figures, but for most, 10 or 11 Celsius to
01:53take us into Tuesday morning. A grey damp start in place is foggy too, but the fog should lift and
02:01break and it will be dry for many of us. Some brighter sunny spells developing through the day,
02:06but large amounts of cloud, particularly through the spine of the country up into Scotland, the
02:10cloud thick enough perhaps for a few splashes of rain. Into the afternoon, a few showers possible,
02:17could be on the heavy side, the odd rumble of thunder, but most places remaining dry. And in
02:22that sunshine, temperatures will lift again up to around 20 Celsius. Under the cloud, 13, 14 Celsius.
02:29Overnight, low cloud could still linger for some eastern coasts right through the day,
02:34making it feel quite chilly here, a little bit of a northerly breeze too. Into the evening time,
02:40any showers that are around will fade away and you can see the cloud starts to melt away,
02:45allowing mist and fog to reform quite widely as we move overnight and into Wednesday.
02:51So it's a showery day today, some local heavy downpours possible, but then high pressure
02:56begins to build in, plenty of dry and bright weather on the way. For more details on this,
03:01you can follow us on our social media channels. See you again later.
