00:00Hello, welcome to your National Afternoon weather update from the Met Office. It's been
00:04cloudier in the south today, brighter in the north, but turning hot and humid Sunday and
00:09into Monday. So we'll start to see high pressure building as we go through Sunday, but this
00:15will also draw up some very hot and humid air as we go Sunday and more so into Monday,
00:22especially across the southeast. But we do have low pressure out towards the west by
00:27Monday, and that's going to bring a focus for some heavy rain, but also some torrential
00:31downpours with thunderstorms in the mix. So a lot going on in the next couple of days,
00:37but bringing it back to the rest of the afternoon. Across Wales, across the southwest of England
00:42and across southeastern England, a lot of clouds still remaining. That should start
00:46breaking up as we go later on in the afternoon. Across Northern Ireland, parts of Northern
00:52England, plenty of sunny spells here. But across Scotland, we still do have a focus
00:57for some showers moving through quite brisk though on that wind. As for temperatures,
01:04highs of up to 19, 20 degrees in the north, but in the best of the sunshine further south,
01:09highs up to 23, possibly 25 degrees. As we go through the rest of the afternoon and evening
01:17time, still staying quite murky along the south, especially across Devon and Cornwall
01:21with still some patchy drizzle here. Elsewhere, turning much drier, we'll see the influence
01:27of high pressure, so showers generally starting to fade away across parts of Scotland. Many
01:33places seeing clear skies, but across the south, that's where we're going to see a lot
01:38of clouds still and a humid night to come, feeling muggy with temperatures struggling
01:44here at around 17 or 18 degrees. But further towards the north, a fresher feel, temperatures
01:50could drop into the single figures. So a muggy start to the day across southern areas, generally
01:58just staying largely dry but cloudy. That cloud should start lifting and breaking and
02:03retreating back towards English coastlines. A bit of a breeze as well coming into the
02:08English Channel, but many places seeing plenty of sunshine as we go through the afternoon
02:14and staying dry, but also turning very warm for most of us, especially across southern
02:20parts of England, where we'll see temperatures climbing 27, possibly up to 29 degrees. As
02:28we go through Sunday afternoon, then not too much changing into the evening time, that
02:33cloud generally melting away, but our focus will be across the west where we'll start
02:38to see this influence of low pressure, bringing some thundery downpours overnight Sunday and
02:44into Monday. So there is a lot going on in the weather in the next couple of days, so
02:49make sure to hit subscribe on YouTube so you don't miss an update, and I'll catch you soon. Bye bye.
