00:00Good morning, happy Saturday. It is a bit of a grey, cloudy and damp start for some of us today,
00:06but things are brightening up and they are going to hot up as we go through this weekend. But for
00:11the time being, we do have this frontal feature across parts of England and Wales, and it's this
00:16that's led to the relatively grey start for some of us. There will be some rain spilling its way
00:21in, particularly across parts of Wales, southwest England. Some of this could be a little bit heavy
00:25over the higher ground, and all of that cloud, that murkiness, is going to drift its way eastwards.
00:30So even if you're starting on a bright note across eastern parts, it is going to turn cloudier and
00:35possibly a bit damp later on. Slightly different story further north, though, across northern
00:39England, northern Ireland, lots of bright sunny spells even into southern Scotland too. But
00:43further north, quite a few more showers, one or two showers possible elsewhere, but they're going
00:47to be mostly across the northern half of Scotland, and some of them could be on the heavy side.
00:53There will still be some brisk winds here, perhaps not as strong as yesterday, but nonetheless a bit
00:58blustery, so pushing those showers through relatively quickly. In the north, temperatures
01:03are going to be a little bit higher than yesterday and feeling it with the slightly lighter winds, so
01:08quite warm in any bright or sunny spells in between those showers. Further south, we do have some
01:12warmer, hotter air coming in, and so you'd think temperatures will be quite a bit higher already,
01:17but because there's a fair bit of cloud around, it's not going to feel that much warmer, perhaps
01:22a little bit more humid than it has been of late. A bit of cloud still and some outbreaks of rain to
01:28come as we go through the evening, and to start the night as well, a lot of the cloud breaking up, but
01:34some murkiness, some low cloud and some drizzly rain feeding into parts of the south-southwest
01:39as we go through the early hours of Sunday. Further north, lots of clear skies, though across the far
01:44north of Scotland still some more showers continuing here, though these are starting to ease
01:49as we go into Sunday itself. Where we have that cloud towards the south, temperatures won't drop
01:54a huge amount, but the clear skies mean we could see temperatures falling a little bit, so some
01:58places, particularly away from the towns and cities, just about getting into single figures, so a bit
02:02fresh for some of us. Through Sunday then, yes, we have some murkiness, some low clouds, some drizzly
02:08rain across parts of the south first thing, and some of that cloud is going to shift a bit further
02:12northward, so central parts of England and Wales turning a bit cloudier for a time, but a lot of
02:17this cloud should actually break up and I'm expecting a decent amount of fine sunny weather
02:22for many of us. Further north, a lot of sunshine, though some high-level clouds turning the sunshine
02:27a bit hazy, and for the far north of Scotland, any showers through the morning will clear away, so
02:32turning dry here. So by the time that we get to the afternoon, it is looking mostly dry, mostly bright
02:37and a good deal of sunshine around for most of us, and with that, with the sunshine and some
02:42hotter air coming in, I'm expecting temperatures to be quite a bit higher than they have been of
02:47late. Good chance that we'll get to the very high 20s towards the south, 28, 29, possibly 30 Celsius
02:53perhaps, and even further north, we're looking at low to mid-20s, so feeling pretty warm indeed.
02:59As we go later on on Sunday, there is going to be some heavy thundery rain pushing in, particularly
03:05towards north-western parts, but some uncertainty as to how far east this is going to reach,
03:10because there could be some heavy downpours in association with this. We do need to be aware
03:15that there could be some impacts with hail, lightning, the intense thunder, some heavy downpours,
03:21all possibly causing some problems as we go into next week. As well as that though, we do have some
03:26hot air. Yes, there is a front coming in from the west, so that's going to start to bring something
03:31a bit fresher to west and north-western parts, but particularly towards the east-southeast of England,
03:37Monday is likely to be the hottest day of this hot spell, and that's when we could get temperatures
03:42quite widely in the low 30s, 32, 33, possibly even a little bit higher than this, and it's with this
03:48hot air, the high humidity, all of these perfect ingredients for some thunderstorms to kick off.
03:54With the hot and perhaps thundery weather to come through this weekend and into the
03:59beginning of next week, it's definitely worth making sure you're up to date with the forecast. Bye-bye.
