00:00Thanks for joining me for this latest update from the Met Office.
00:03Bit of sunshine today, but there are more April showers around as well.
00:07The bigger picture is quite revealing.
00:09We do have a lump of cloud drifting in across Northern Ireland
00:13and some cloudier skies in the North Sea as well.
00:15Out West, that's where we've got the clearest skies,
00:18thanks to a large area of high pressure.
00:20Now, this is on its way towards the UK, but it's making very, very slow progress.
00:27So for today, we have these areas of cloud to deal with,
00:29pushing South across Northern Ireland, making for a damp day here,
00:32bringing some showers into Wales as well.
00:35And further East, we've got plenty of showers across eastern parts of England
00:38and a gusty and cold wind blowing here too.
00:41For many elsewhere, there will be plenty of sunny spells,
00:44but still the possibility of one or two showers getting going.
00:47The heaviest showers, though, definitely across the East,
00:49staying fairly damp across parts of Northern Ireland.
00:52A few more showers coming in across Scotland.
00:54But as you can see, many areas will see some decent spells of sunshine.
00:57The wind's easing in Northern Scotland as well,
00:59but that breeze on those North Sea coasts really making it feel pretty fresh.
01:03Nine, ten degrees, but feeling colder with the wind.
01:06Even further South, though, where the winds are a bit lighter
01:08with some sunny spells, we're struggling to get into the teens
01:11and certainly only eight or nine under that more persistent rain
01:14across the West of Northern Ireland.
01:16That zone of thicker cloud and rain and drizzle will spread across Pembrokeshire,
01:20Devon and Cornwall during this evening.
01:22So some rain for a time here.
01:23More showers coming into Lincolnshire, East Anglia
01:26and across parts of Kent through the night as well.
01:29But for quite a few of us, it's going to be a dry night and a clear night.
01:33And with light winds, it's going to turn quite chilly.
01:35That blue hue on the chart, that's a frost through parts of Wales,
01:40northwest England into southern Scotland.
01:42Most towns and cities just about staying above freezing.
01:45But for many, it's going to be a fresh old start to Thursday.
01:48But for many of us, it'll be a fine and a sunny start as well.
01:51Still possibly one or two showers across Kent early doors
01:54and rain returns to Scotland pretty rapidly.
01:58A damp start for the Highlands and the Western Isles
02:00and that rain spreads to eastern and southern Scotland by lunchtime.
02:03Some of that rain affecting the north and east of Northern Ireland
02:06and through the afternoon, we'll see outbreaks of rain
02:09spreading into northern England, then parts of north Wales.
02:12But notice further south, it stays dry and fine throughout.
02:15It may cloud over in south Wales, but some decent spells of sunshine
02:18throughout the day across southern England and East Anglia.
02:21And that wind here will be an awful lot lighter.
02:24Compared to today, but further north, the winds will be strengthening
02:27once more as the rain comes in.
02:29So as you can imagine,
02:30you're going to feel pretty cool here with the rain and the gusty winds.
02:3410, 11 degrees.
02:35But in the south, temperatures will be higher through tomorrow.
02:3714, 15 degrees possible.
02:39Feeling pleasant enough in the sunny spells.
02:42We will see the cloud continuing to thicken, though, and drift south
02:45a bit more of that rain spreading into parts of the Midlands for time
02:48down towards East Anglia during Thursday evening.
02:51That is part of a set of weather fronts which will continue to track away
02:56during Thursday night and Friday morning.
02:58And then look at this.
02:59Here comes the high pressure taking its time, but edging in for the weekends.
03:04There will be some weather fronts close to near northern Scotland,
03:07bringing some patchy rain.
03:08But this high will bring many of us a fine weekend.
03:11One thing to note, however, particularly on Sunday,
03:14the breeze will again start to pick up in from the North Sea.
03:17So bringing cooler and cloudier conditions across the east.
