Transcript
00:00Thanks for joining me for this evening weather updates.
00:03There'll be some pretty hefty showers around on Friday.
00:06Another pretty mild one across the south.
00:09Never a dry picture when low pressure is dominating,
00:12sitting right across the UK.
00:14These weather fronts have been making for some persistent rain
00:17as well.
00:17It stays pretty soggy through the night
00:19across central and southern Scotland.
00:21Meanwhile, for England and Wales,
00:22the showers tend to move through.
00:23Fairly wet through the evening across Northern Ireland,
00:26but it should turn a little drier, at least for a time.
00:29And then look at this, more heavy showers coming in
00:31across South Wales and southwest England.
00:33Some intense rain with those as well.
00:35Some big showers, even maybe the odd rumble of thunder,
00:39turning quite gusty as well as those heavy showers move in.
00:42The wind's coming down from the north
00:43across northern Scotland.
00:44So here, turning really quite chilly.
00:47Temperatures may even dip down to freezing in rural parts.
00:49Whereas further south, it will be another pretty mild night.
00:52We start Friday in double digits.
00:55We do start with some heavy downpours, though.
00:57Parts of the M4, the M3, the M25 seeing a lot of spray
01:00and surface water for the Friday morning rush hour.
01:04That rain will slowly ease through the morning
01:06and clear away.
01:07The rain, though, likely to persist
01:09over southeast Scotland, northeast
01:10England for much of the day.
01:11So dull and damp and pretty chilly here as well.
01:14Brighter spells elsewhere, particularly
01:16parts of Northern Ireland.
01:17West coast of Scotland seeing some good spells of blue sky
01:21through the afternoon.
01:22Elsewhere, a bit of blue sky, but showers never too far away.
01:26It will be another pretty mild day
01:28across the south and east of England, 15, maybe 16 Celsius.
01:31Whereas further north, we've got the colder air in play,
01:34thanks to those northerly winds.
01:36So particularly stuck under that rain in southeast Scotland,
01:39really feeling fairly chilly.
01:41That rain will slowly edge away during Friday evening.
01:44Still some heavy showers for a time over eastern parts
01:46of England, but generally, it does
01:48get drier through Friday night and into the start
01:51of the weekend.
01:52It also gets colder.
01:53That blue on the chart, that's a frost.
01:56Much of northern England's, northern Ireland's,
01:58Scotland's getting down pretty close to freezing
02:00and a couple of degrees below in rural parts.
02:02Further south, we may not dip quite that low,
02:05particularly in the southwest, where there will be more cloud
02:07edging in and a little bit of rain,
02:09likely here on Saturday morning.
02:10For a good chunk of the country, though, Saturday morning
02:13will start dry and bright with some sunshine.
02:15Could be a little bit of mist and fog around for a time,
02:18but that should clear.
02:19And then for most of the day, eastern England,
02:21northern England, much of Scotland
02:23staying dry and fine, cloud thickening further west.
02:25Not too much in the way of rain during the day,
02:28but notice some heavier rain just lurking here.
02:31That could move in on Saturday night.
02:34Temperatures, again, quite a contrast
02:36between north and south, and the south
02:38getting into the teens further north,
02:40staying in single figures.
