00:00Hello. If you're watching this on YouTube, don't forget to hit subscribe.
00:04Our weather patterns are changing.
00:06We've had high pressure controlling things for most of this week,
00:09bringing a lot of dry weather and many of us some sunshine.
00:13The high is still nearby, keeping things dry across the north for the next couple of days.
00:17But further south, low pressure is just pushing in.
00:21The ice bars are squeezing together as well.
00:24So the breeze, which has been pretty noticeable across the south today, will continue.
00:28And this low pressure will introduce some heavy, even thundery showers from Friday onwards.
00:33Let's rewind the clock, though, and go through Thursday night.
00:36First of all, we've still got that easterly breeze just dragging in a bit more cloud again.
00:41It's been sticking to parts of the east of England through the day,
00:44and it's going to push back inland overnight, getting into parts of Wales,
00:48across eastern Scotland and much of England by dawn.
00:52The west, though, generally stays dry.
00:54Some decent clear spells across Northern Ireland.
00:56In the west here, temperatures down to single figures.
00:58Western Scotland also seeing those temperatures well down into single digits.
01:02But with that cloud acting like a blanket, that'll keep the temperatures up across England and Wales.
01:07That cloud, though, is going to be thick enough for a little bit of rain and drizzle here and there.
01:11Maybe a bit of a damp start on some of these North Sea coasts and certainly over the Pennines, a bit of drizzle.
01:15Could even be one or two showers across the south first thing.
01:18For most, though, it's just a grey, dry start.
01:21What we'll see through the day is the cloud breaking up,
01:24like recent days, to reveal some sunshine.
01:26But then that sunshine likely to trigger some heavy showers.
01:30East Anglia in the southeast initially, but then over the Midlands, Wales and southwest England during the afternoon.
01:34They could be pretty lively showers as well.
01:37Some thunderstorms, hail and thunder possible, too.
01:41The cloud is going to be a bit more stubborn across northeast England into eastern Scotland compared to recent days.
01:46There's some here likely to stay pretty drab with some drizzle on the hills.
01:50But yet again, look at that.
01:51Northern Ireland, western Scotland doing pretty good for sunshine.
01:54And here, temperatures getting up into the mid to high teens, maybe even 20 Celsius.
01:59Over 20 in the south again.
02:01So feeling quite warm here.
02:02But there will be those thundery showers and quite cool, I suspect, on some of these North Sea coasts where it does stay drab.
02:09Let's focus in then on those showers.
02:11They're not going to be everywhere in this warning area.
02:14The very nature of thunderstorms is that they're hit and miss.
02:17One place gets a downpour five miles away.
02:19It may be dry, but where they do occur, likely to cause some issues.
02:23Potential for flooding, certainly a lot of spray and surface water on the roads.
02:27Parts of the M4 and the M5, especially for Friday evening's rush hour.
02:31So just bear that in mind as these showers will continue into the evening time.
02:36They should fade as we go through the night and will continue with that thicker cloud across northeast England,
02:41eastern Scotland, likely to push back in over the Midlands and parts of Wales as we head into the weekend.
02:47And notice we're not done with the thundery showers, more of them brewing up across parts of the south.
02:52Again, quite a mild night for many, but with the clearest skies over northern Scotland, again, some rural spots down into single digits.
02:59Saturday is going to be a similar kind of day with some of these North Sea coasts staying grey, a bit of drizzle further south.
03:05Yes, some bright or sunny spells, but further heavy showers likely over the Midlands, southern England and parts of Wales.
03:13Again, western Scotland probably favour for some sunshine, a fine day by and large in Northern Ireland also.
03:18And again, those temperature contrasts with the breeze from the North Sea.
03:21Quite cool here and some sunshine in western Scotland.
03:24High teens in the south, still quite warm air.
03:27So yes, when the sun's out, temperatures over 20 degrees.
03:30But again, the potential for some heavy downpours, for big thundery showers to develop.
03:37So we also have a yellow Met Office thunderstorm warning in place for Saturday.
03:41Again, not everywhere in this warning zone we'll see a downpour, but where they do occur, they are likely to cause some disruption.
03:49So again, if you're travelling on Saturday, bear that in mind.
03:52A lot of spray and surface water on the roads.
